Admittedly, I did not read the ethical dilemma in question. However, anytime one finds one's self looking to right some wrong, speak out against injustice, or otherwise object to the actions of others, give some thought to your own moral/ethical position. Then think about it some more.
Frankly, I'm not sure this world needs MORE people speaking out. What the world needs now is silence, sweet silence. I suspect the whole damned planet would be better off if we did more of that.

I think it you type something on your own computer

My pastor is black. His No. 1 is Hispanic. Our congregation is probably 40% black in a town with a black population of maybe 6%. And all we manage to do is love and support each other and our community. No "social justice" conferences. No "Black History Month" sermons (I think we were doing Jeremiah in February). Our pastor has used the term "African-American" exactly once, and that was on Father's Day, in reference to the out-of-wedlock birth rate. The white guy in the suit and the black guy in the sports jersey hug each other and call each other "brother" every Sunday, and look out for each other during the week.
Not gloating, just noting that it can be done. And, I suppose, bemoaning the rebirth of large-scale racial strife under this president.

Last night attending a showing of a locally made indie film called Sequence, I was a pilgrim in the land of heathens.
During Dreamscape I was wondering if he was poking fun at new age type therapists when the dude is being praised for his clear eyes and she tells him lets go through this sequence. So we are treated to guy and therapist jointly raising their hands and grunt. After third iteration it fades to black and you hear the fourth so it sounds like ... wait a minute are they having sex?
The Temperature of Father Martin was an attempt to have The Big Chill about friends gathering to throw in the rive the ashes of a deceased friend. Martin we find out is an Episcopal priest who is divorced, has asthma, popped his wife two weeks before the wedding, steals a kiss from a female friend at gathering, and then runs to don a CPAP mask before he starts laughing. Fade to black. We never get to the ash scattering. And the ambient noise track is so loud from the music to CPAP machine, you have to strain to discover Martin is laughing as he sits on the toilet with the mask on.
And then in the Q+A after film, the writer and director talks about about how progressive Mississippi is. And the black female character who he portrays as a bit of a sex freak in Dreamscape, oh he used the name of an old school classmate without her permission.

Well, Delta IV has launched. I barely managed to get out of bed in time. NASA TV completely shit the bed for me, at least. The video cut off at liftoff, and I'm only getting little fragments here and there.

I made sure I was in my office this morning in plenty of time to see the countdown (and use my 300 Mb/s pipe). It got to 10 secs to go and decided to go belly up. About a minute in, I was able to connect to the media stream and get a picture back. I suspect the media stream ate up all their bandwidth since it seemed to be the only one working.

That's exactly what I'm doing -- finding out what the Dragonborn gets up to now that she's defeated both Alduin and Miraak. Yep Sven, its 'art' because the Mississippi Film Commission helped with this indie film. Hoi-poloi blood ticks on my tax dollar crafted this.
The only one of the four stories that had a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end was the first and shortest - Yazoo Women. Three good old boys bring to a house a riding mower. The lady of the house in a faux leopard print blouse and very tight black skirt invites them inside to get them some water. Inside is a divorce party going on. So the Cougars at the party decide to start dancing with the boys. Next scene the boys are driving back and then you notice one of the Cougars is snuggled up against the driver.
Its Never Cold in Vegas is the last. Wharf-rat looking Bob Dylan clone is auditioning for a part is how it opens. And from there is kinda day in the life dysfunctional. There is a fund raiser in it for this beat-poet who's poem is all about killing and burying a body in the sands outside Vegas. And it ends with the Dylan clone, in only his tightie whities, being serenaded in the bedroom by his girlfriend who is playing on her synth and keyboard.

He suddenly, last night came up with the "Split the country 50/50, give the blacks their half..." meme out of the blue.
Took several minutes of discussing the concept of "Broad Brushes" with him to get him off of what seemed to be a slogan, and back into the "use your head, not your emotions for thinking" mode that we are trying to teach him.
If we split the country, there are plenty of non-blacks that I would prefer to see on the other side of the border. And many good Blacks which I would prefer to see on our side of it.

Friend was not at showing. After viewing party was going to be at Hal and Mal's which is located in Jackson proper. After 10pm on a Thursday in Jackson. Really did not feel like trying to network with this type of crowd at risk to life and limb.
Was polite though, after movie congratulated him on getting movie made. Kept it safe. Though I did mention to another friend who was at showing, I am more traditional in that I prefer definite beginnings and ends to stories. After I told them I wrote 57,000 in November on a story.

I've been feeling the same way as the author in his conclusion.

This is why the left is attacking all of the above so hard. The left is losing the narrative, slowly, starting with Andrew Breitbart (mostly in my mind), and then the avalanche of followers.

My HS senior said her sociology class yesterday upset her. When I asked why, she said because it's all about Blacks & Whites and since she doesn't fit neatly into eithet she feels like chopped liver.
(Well, she didn't say "chopped liver", but that was the sense of it)
I suggested that the next time that happens she should stand up in class and start ranting about being made invisible and laying the guilt on the teacher. I bet her classmates would applaud.
The idea cheered her up but she's too much a model student to do it.

I really think you should just drop it though. Find a better opportunity after the fire has died down. It's still so volatile. There are other avenues to speak out, but via your boss/work is dangerous. Especially if you have a family to support.

I agree. I am all for standing up for one's beliefs, but, in this day and age, a belligerent Liberal boss can fire you and then poison the well for getting another job. In this employment market, everyone needs references and even if your company expressly forbids a supervisor from giving references, it is very easy to get around that--all they have to do is plant a teeny tiny seed of doubt by sighing and saying, I just WISH for your sake that I was ALLOWED to tell you about Fenelonspoke.
Sorry to be such a downer about it, but, corporate America has become a vast wasteland of diversity think and political correctness.

In this employment market, everyone needs references and even if your company expressly forbids a supervisor from giving references, it is very easy to get around that--all they have to do is plant a teeny tiny seed of doubt by sighing and saying, I just WISH for your sake that I was ALLOWED to tell you about Fenelonspoke.
Sorry to be such a downer about it, but, corporate America has become a vast wasteland of diversity think and political correctness.

Well Cpt Charles I took a chance. At least when I ordered my ticket online, gave me an option where I wanted the ticket price to go. I chose microloans. Not sure where the money they took at the door went.
My friend, artist type and LIV mellow type. Asked if I had seen the movie Fury but they couldn't remember the name of that movie, said it was the one with the only Tiger tank. He thought war movies were pretty nit-picky on accuracy and I told him did not go see it because of 'issues' like an 88 only doing glancing damage on a Sherman. Did not climb on soapbox on Red Tails with them, stopped myself. They also trying to do the movie thing, asked if they got a spot but alas seems they have a crew. But will see.

I'm late to the thread but two things come to mind:

Second, when Jesus was tempted, Satan tried a multi-pronged attack. The individual focus of each is a teaching in itself, but the response was consistent: "It is written"
In other areas, the disciples and others were frequently trying to get Jesus to get involved politically: Payment of taxes, whether to stone someone, and always pressure to claim his kingdom on earth now now now. He did not take the bait. If necessary he would just draw in the sand until the Father gave him the revelation on what to do.
I have no respect for clergy that exploit their position to use the Bible as a springboard for social issues. That is not their job. In any situation you are God's man, but are under no responsibility to "do" anything. Be at peace and walk tall in wisdom.

Fenelon, I worked for a LCDR who was a washout pilot. He asked me 'What do the men think about me, Chief?' I told him it was best to ask the men. He said 'The men work for you, Chief. You know what they think.' I told him 'The men think you're an ahole.' He asked me 'Well, what do you think?'' I said 'You're an ahole. Sir.' Perhaps that's one reason why I never made Senior Chief. Don't share any 'feelings', Fenelon. Trust me on this one.

If these people were living the life of Christ, they would be alive today and the police would be bored. Allowing the world into the Church is the problem. #239 Facts about Garner: Did you know that the Police Sergeant supervising the arrest was a Black Woman? She stated that she heard him saying the stuff about breathing, but, noted that he seemed to be breathing just fine. IMHO, he died of asthma--you can be dying of asthma and be appearing to breathe just fine--your lungs are not successfully transferring oxygen. It is truly sad that he did not ask for his inhaler/rescue meds. I am not a doctor, just have friends and family with asthma and they can appear to be breathing, but, actually be in respiratory distress.
Train the police to ask someone complaining about breathing if they have asthma and need their meds.

Here in flyover country, we are watching with amusement at the hissy fit the coasts are having. You will notice that Ferguson quieted down when it got really cold and they saw the public opinion was turning against them. New York is filled with people who love to stir the pot and since that is where all the media is located, it gets stirred. We, the common folk out here in the hinterlands, just keep doing what we always do. We will watch as your cities are torn apart by people looking for a reason for doing harm. If they try to come here, they won't stay long, because we are savages, and most of us are armed.

Sefton: Did you see that 12 Monkeys will be a TV series on Syfy in January? Obviously, diverges from the movie plot line much like Sarah Conner Chronicles took liberties with Terminator canon. From the trailer, my fleeting impression was that it's set in Baltimore, not Philly.
