24 It's a lovely chilly morning here on the farm. Got up way before the sun like everyday heading out to feed the animals like everyday, after I make my coffee, but unlike everyday, today there are the remains of an apple pie beside my coffee maker. My wife brought it back from thanksgiving at her sisters house. I'm all, "yes, apple pie, it's going to be a good day tater." Then I see it. "Earth fare" Not the words you want to see on your apple pie, "extra sugar?" yes please, "super buttery," I'll have some of that, but earth anything and you know it's going to taste like cardboard.

I did taste it to make sure I'm not just racist against the earth, tastes like cardboard. Maybe she only brought it back for the pigs who I am sure will not share my opinion because no one in this house will eat that, including her. That's the reason that 3/4 of an apple pie survived thanksgiving. If my mom were still alive I guarantee two things, her apple pie would have had extra sugar and be super buttery, AND there is no way in Hell even a bite would have survived thanksgiving.
Hippies fuck up everything.

The Original Hippies liked good food. Ah, Atlantis!

I'm often reminded of my "health food restaurant" experience in Albuquerque in the mid-70s. Place was run by that turban-wearing order. From several posts here, there appears to be some really good competition to the Michelin brand these days. I tried to research the ratings but came away not trusting the rating impartiality (even though they were on the internet and thus all true).

111 Politically they were a disaster with that nitwit Kennedy and uber cretin Johnson. Between the total mismanagement of foreign policy, especially Vietnam, and "Great Society" programs this country got really messed up.

You can trace the start of black America's decline directly back to the 60's and Hte "Great" Society. One of the hard and fast rules of economics, and this applies to public and private $$: If you want more of something, subsidize it. Want more wheat production? Subsidize it. So what happens when you subsidize having kids out of wedlock via AFDC? Well, friends, you get a 2-fer: more babies, and absent fathers. And the one thing that almost everyone can agree on when looking at issues in the black community: the disintegration of the family structure is destroying black America.
There is racism in America, and it comes from white liberals.

117 I have a friend who went to UW Madison for grad school. She refers to Bucky as "that fucking rodent." I guess not everyone who went there thinks he is the schnitz.

But my son likes to watch Bucky skate before the hockey games. He thinks that's hilarious. Of course, he is eight years old....

Another friend was in a frat at UW, and his frat mate played Bucky. He was at a media release of some sort with the chancellor and was so drunk he barfed down the front of the Bucky suit all over the chancellor's suit. So, I'm guessing that presser didn't come off quite like they planned....

121 Speaking of Buzz Aldrin, what do you folks think of that underwear ad in which he's featured? I always get a kick out of it. Especially given that they switch to the beefcake shot right after showing Buzz... which kind of gives the impression that the taut, young stud you're looking at is Mr. Aldrin. LOL. 131 "I see hippies as the brainless foot soldiers of the leftists/progressives who brain washed them. The left has been attempting to destroy this country for a long time. They finally got a hold of a generation so self absorbed and gullible that they could use them to start the process of destruction"

A lot of truth in that.

I remember early hippies who were actually fairly patriotic; they understood and appreciated that only in America could they do what they were doing.

So actually is should be "Commies fuck up everything".

I know a lot of people snicker at Ohio State's mascot, Brutus the Buckeye, but the persons who don the Brutus costume try out for the role (yes there are more than one mascot bearer) and it is pretty vigorous. They have to demonstrate not only dancing and some modest cheer ability, but also have to come up with their own skits and then if they make it through that, they are tested on their ability to graciously make it through things such as challenges from a drunk fan, media interviews, etc.

That reminds me of the drunk fan this year who ran out on the field and got the strength coach treatment. Always good for another view.

140 Good morning,

I saw the Star Wars post yesterday and wanted to comment but you all were already 300 plus comments in. I had an 8th grader say to me "I don't really get the Hans shot first argument" I replied to the effect that Hans shot because they were bad guys and it needed to be done, not you have to be shot at before responding. Was I somewhat correct?

I post this here because of the comments regarding potential UN action in the US.
