Bill Cosby has been accused by several women of having raped them. He settled one such claim in 2006, and recently another woman came forward to say he'd drugged her and then raped her in 1969.
Now former supermodel Janice Dickenson claims the same basic story, saying that Cosby raped her in 1982.Anyone... remembering that 1999 extortion plot by a woman claiming to be Cosby's out-of-wedlock daughter, seeking $40 million from him? $40 million is an awful lot to ask in a paternity scandal. I'm wondering if the actual blackmail involved the rape (actual or alleged) of the blackmailer's mother.
Dickinson claimed that in 1982, Cosby invited her Lake Tahoe, where he was performing, to discuss a job he had offered her, as well as advice on her singing career. She said that after she arrived in Tahoe, the two had dinner, and then when the two returned to her room, Cosby gave her "wine and a pill." "The next morning I woke up and I wasn't wearing my pajamas," she said. "And I remember before I passed out that I had been sexually assaulted by this man." "Before I woke up in the morning, the last thing I remember was Bill Cosby, in a patchwork robe, dropping his robe and getting on top of me." ... Dickinson is the third accuser to come forward since comedian Hannibal Burrell called Cosby a rapist during a stand-up routine in Philadelphia last month.

He had a TV series from '96 - '00. I didn't see any episodes myself, but I've read that it wasn't as upbeat as his famous '80s sitcom, and that likely threw people off. It ran for four seasons.

And interestingly enough, the person who's really given this story legs is... my old liberal nemesis I've told you all about before, Jeffrey Wells of Hollywood Elsewhere. One of the women accusing Cosby is a personal friend of his, and he told the story on his blog.
I don't know what to believe, except that (as I said a few nights ago), I find the allegations especially disturbing as Cosby is someone who's always seemed to have a strong moral center.

They caught him several times entering or trying to enter apartments with young women in them.
Luckily, he wasn't smart enough to plan out things. But if he stumbled upon one alone -- I think things would have gone poorly.

The asian guy would, according to the maintenance guy, just occasionally try to follow pretty girls into their apartments. He'd see them go in while walking and then try to go in himself. He had no more detailed plan than -- see pretty lady, want pretty lady. He definitely wasn't some evil violent psycho wanting to see fear and terrorize women -- he was a horny, lonely dude who's brain didn't work right.
Maintenance guy had to warn all the women to be careful about locking doors.

The accusations pretty much come down to "He said, She said," with no real way to provide proof in either direction. So I'm skeptical that remembering clearly would have any real effect.
Further, all of the claims emerged at different times, and a couple of them have been around for decades. That means faulty memory would be less likely to play a role in a potential defense against the claims.

Now that other women in number have put themselves on the line, maybe the threat of lawsuit is kind of zero now. Plus she would know their stories gain strength when she's willing to speak up. Conscience nags most people.
Also I think dark secrets carried within are damaging. Maybe they are part of the reason she's unhappy with herself.

The research I've read on roofies is also that their usage is wildly over-exaggerated.
There was an australian study I read that examined a 100 women who claimed to be roofied. None had any traces of the drugs typically used for that and the study concluded it was likely just a blackout from heavy drinking.
The women were all convinced they'd been roofied, though, since they didn't normally blackout.
But not remembering events is a common symptom of alcohol intake.
The research I've read indicated the vast majority of "roofie" episodes are not real. They aren't lying. They just are mistaken. They've watched too much TV and drank too much and became convinced something very rare happened to them, when in reality something very common did -- drinking enough alcohol to interfere with their memory.

With cell phone cams there have been many cases now where a woman claimed rape -- only to have video proof of her consenting.
It's not clear these women are lying since they often were drinking enough to interfere with memory formation. So they honestly don't remember consenting. And, of course, the next day when they aren't horny they wouldn't consent. But people often agree to do thing when they are horny that they wouldn't agree to do when they aren't.

I'm inclined to believe this as well. Like when teh Oprah tried to convince her paranoid mom audience that kids were all having "rainbow parties." Television is a powerful medium. Most of us only "hear" about women being drugged with roofies because of TV and movies. There were alot of guys I went to college with that had no problem taking advantage of a drunk girl. Resorting to drugging girls for sex just seems way out there on a fringe.

And let us give the benefit of the doubt to women who were interacting with Bill Cosby with the idea in mind of enhancing their career in some way.
Let's disregard the possibility that this wasn't reported because it could have been (or was) consensual. The story(s) are being rehashed because one of them wrote a book, a comic voiced the claim in his act and a few other women have said so also but were in his presence under similar circumstances.
Surely there's more women who were with Mr. Cosby that aren't claiming rape because perhaps the encounter turned out to benefit them in some way. Those claiming assault could have decided after they consented that they got ripped off.
Wouldn't be the first time a woman said yes and then took it back. It's just possible that because of his money and him being an outspoken critic of liberal ideology re; blacks, that they've decided it would be worth their while to make these claims.
I won't pretend to be able to decide but I'm going to leave an open mind cause there's too much of an Hmmmm factor here.

But if you've had the misfortune of seeing Janice D. on anything on reality tv, she's just plain nuts, and the most narcissistic attention hound you ever saw in your life.
I watched one season of "Celebrity Something Or Other with Dr. Drew."
It was about addicts at some swank drug addiction place. The reason that season was so great was that many of the other celebrities hated poor old Janice who had whining down to a fine art. Honestly, I kept watching because I hoped to see Dr. Drew punch her. I would have knocked her on the ass if I'd had to listen to her.
One of the most memorable scenes was one where Eric Roberts, Julia's less successful brother, said, "She repulses me."

I have no facts in either direction.
My previous "rape jokes" were crass and only mildly amusing to anyone who wasn't a victim.
If this guy is guilty, he should have his nuts crushed via ball peen hammer. Pun firmly ensconced. Seriousness; critical.
Rape is terrorism and I don't think I'll get much argument on that.
I'm not sure of the psychology of it all. I believe it is a "power" -thing, but I'm not versed in case-studies.
When a woman is overpowered into sex, that is terrorism.

When my Aunt was raped by a mentally unstable individual years ago, it was a power-play. He knew that she didn't "want" him, but was only trying to help him.

As I have demeaned the charge and disparaged the potential victims; seeing as a loveable, popular comedian may have committed it?

Another thing all the allegations against Cosby have in common is they were all first made 20 years after the alleged conduct. No way to prove anything. Oh, and none of them involved any contemporary confirmation, either, no police reports, no civil suits at the time.
Does anyone know more about this than I? Sure, Cosby and his accusers all should know, but how would anyone else?
I would tend to give allegations somewhat more credence if they weren't all also attached to demands for large payments.
