The report cites many reasons as to why the Secret Service failed in its response, including inadequate training, poor staffing decisions and outdated or inefficient communication technology.
I was a trained Root Cause Evaluator and also qualified to lead teams on significant event evaluations. There are two major problems in that paragraph above that lead me to believe this investigation was done by people not qualified to do them, or that it was a sham. First it says there were "many reasons". That is a tale-tale sign that they were shotgunning and really did not dig down, or they were trying to keep blame away from senior personnel. The second problem is "training". Any time they blame training it is a significant indicator that the investigation was looking for a scapegoat. I also found it notable that nobody was fired for this. Or if they were it has not been given to the press. Also note that the old government bleg for more money is found in there.

As respecters of rule of law, we do what's open to us starting tomorrow leading up to 2016: finding or formung grassroots venues where we increase pressure through assemblies, max uae of social media to let pols know we'rw serious,to inform LIVs there's a better way. With regards to LIVs, a constant, systematic flow of short info bits tied to real life is key.
All this means more work for those with regular jobs but extraordinary times call for extraordinary effort. Lots of people seem quick to say they'll fight tyranny with arms,kinetic action. What about doing something more mundane, hold a village or townhall, man a booth, organize a group of friends to help another grassroots org, etc. Just some 2cents of thoughts.

As an aside, yours would be the third case of a failed thermocouple in the last fourteen hours for me.
And the professional heating guy that I was talking to yesterday said that in the last five years, thermocouple failure rates are through thereof, with an abnormally short operational life.

way, way up north we've used inline circulation heaters for years instead of, or in addition to, block heaters. They work by heating the coolant, and the natural movement of the fluid keeps all the coolant warm/hot. Makes sure engine is warm, and almost instant hot air when you start the behicle

The deduction for healthcare costs has been disappearing since Clinton was in office. IIANM this latest crap raised the floor to 10%. I have only qualified for it one year and my wife has had cancer twice and I have had a heart attack and cancer.
As for the so-called Cadillac plan it was not indexed to inflation either (which they hide anyway). So at the rate everyone's premiums are going up everybody except the FSA will have a Cadillac plan in a few years. ,

Went on a river cruise, and visited a place called Eat Street - great place using shipping containers as foodie outlets and bars, on an old unused wharf - with live bands etc

Basically Tricare Prime Remote is the gold standard for active duty...the Reservist plan is probably 2d best...
When we were at our Indiana house w/no base geographically closer than 150 miles we got near total choice as well....
Wife and I are having a serious talk about whether she should go 23 to grab back the redux...

Wife got her mild case from being rocketed without reciprocity in Iraq and 'ghani once we started firing back in both her nerves settled.
I figure every service member has a cup and that cup gets filled.
The cups are different sizes, and can be bled dry over time....
but there's a reason the WW1, WW2, and Korea-Nam era VFWs were well lubricated affairs.
In some ways this generation is lucky b/c the force has access to some other stress reducers the veterans of yesteryear were not culturally inclined to avail themselves of.

After a quick phone call to the DC VA, and one of their PTSD post-docs....Dr. Bannion....the stats are about 30% of ALL combat veterans have some form of PTSD from very mild to very severe. The "very severe" is estimated at less than 1% of that population.
OIF-OEF vets PTSD rate is about 10-18%, and that is attributed to better front line care in these conflicts.

Those are wonderful suggestions. If what we had was a headache that sort of aspirin would indeed be a proper response. In fact if this were something like appendicitis the surgery of the last election would have been an appropriate and adequate response. Sadly we have a combination of cancer and gangrene.
The "impeachment is off the table" crowd is telling us there will be no surgery - because that would be risky and icky and the people who hate us - no matter what - might hate us and call us names. The Radiation treatment of nuking DC isn't going to happen and I equally doubt the chemo of gassing the city will occur - unless the Jihadis do either...
However perhaps getting us some placebo stat is what we need; how bout them Kardashians?

I think acceptance that it is reality and we have limits but mission goes on more along the German model is part of the reason the rates are lower.
I give a lot of heat at times about declining standards, pc bullshit, and general idiocy at the 8+ ranks on the E and O sides....
but the kids are good troops God love them, they know they are joining in a disrupted time and still for the most part go.
I wish the civilian leadership was worthy of their sacrifices.

I was reading the VFW magazine this morning.
PTSD disabilities are surging in numbers.
Of course, buried in the story was the part where (To Paraphrase) All a Vet needs to do is verbalize a fear of attack, when there is no danger of attack, and BOOM, up to $3,000.00 per month in disability income. And they pointed out that under recent VA guidelines, no formal documentation, nor formal diagnosis is required to qualify.
On the downside, I could see the government building a case that any Vet drawing disability for PTSD will be automatically ineligible to own firearms, due to a pre-existing mental condition causing them to perceive danger, when in fact, none exists.
When I retired, the big thing was to declare Sleep Apnea on your medical paperwork. Guaranteed 60% disability. I didn't claim it. Didn't have it.
Not trying to downplay true PTSD sufferers.

This is the problem with any "Disability Insurance." Or, for that matter, any form of insurance. In any group of people, you'll have N% who are willing to make fraudulent claims.
And they never concern themselves with what those fraudulent claims will do to future claims, or what it does to those who really suffer from whatever they're pretending.
Unfortunately, short of "change Human Nature," I don't know how you address that problem in a way that doesn't royally screw over people who really do need that insurance.

Yep, pretty much. To be fair, that's what ALL political consultants do, and it's one of the reasons I really can't stand them or (for the most part) the politicians for whom they consult. If you have to lie to get into office, then you should not run in the first place. If you just need to know how to market your ideas or craft your language to be a little clearer, then you're good to go.

And that was the real pisser of the whole thing.
I went through TAP class, and during the breaks, stood around with some very senior Enlisted, and Officers, listening to them openly discussing 'Gaming" the VA disability system.
Got some really funny looks when I brought up the concept of ethics and honesty.

Rather, he set a target for China's emissions to peak by 2030, or earlier if possible. He also pledged to increase the share of energy that China will derive from sources other than fossil fuels.
... this all sounds like "apples and oranges."
At this point, China doesn't even meet the standards of the US Clean Air Act of 1963.
To say that their immediate actions on the environment as having anything to do with "Climate Change" would be roughly equivalent to saying that a child molester is admitting guilt by continuing to pay for internet porn sites.
China is in it's infancy, in terms of dealing with "clean air." They have a along way to go before they even get beyond the obviously offensive particulates and aerosols. Dealing with invisible and olfactory-challenged gases, such as CO2, is a long way off.
Most Chinese view the "Climate Change" meme as a Western plot to keep them backward.
