My pinko cow-orkers were denouncing the $500 reward for not using tobacco--wah, Heather doesn't have to pay extra for drinking beer but I do because I smoke?--and not a single damn one of them understood that the bill Obama signed into law specifically called out tobacco users for higher premiums and The Company was just responding to that.

I am on a HSA already and mine has more than doubled since Obamacide passed. Not only that but we got a notice yesterday that spouses would no longer be eligible as dependents for retirement health plans of current workers.
And they openly stated that these changes were brought about by Obamacare.

But the street scenes were not what I expected. Lots of young people, beardless, in Western dress having a good time with cars and motorcycles and looking normal.

Not just that, but the federal government's OWN studies have concluded repeatedly that Head Start -- which costs taxpayers billions of dollars every year --provides negligible benefits to the kids who participate, and even those few benefits disappear completely by the time the kid reaches 3rd grade.
So basically, taxpayers are dumping billions of dollars into this program every year, just so low-income kids can do a tiny bit better in the first and second grade than they otherwise would have.

Not just that, but the federal government's OWN studies have concluded repeatedly that Head Start -- which costs taxpayers billions of dollars every year --provides negligible benefits to the kids who participate, and even those few benefits disappear completely by the time the kid reaches 3rd grade.
So basically, taxpayers are dumping billions of dollars into this program every year, just so low-income kids can do a tiny bit better in the first and second grade than they otherwise would have.
It's an idiotic waste of money.

Actually a lot of people who work for Head Start are not certified teachers and are not members of the teachers unions. They may be members of other unions. I knew someone who worked for Head Start. It is a typical government bureaucracy. They hire people to be bureaucrats and no one cares if the actual goals of the program are met, as long as people keep their jobs.
They hire people "from the community", which means unskilled, unqualified people from poor neighborhoods. There may be a director of the local program that has a college degree in teaching or early childhood education, which is often a 2 year degree, but many of the other employees have no particular training and no particular qualifications. I is a way to hire government employees and that's all it is.

This is my take with questions at the end: he came on semi-energized, saw a brief flicker of anger but controlled monotone. Word cloud: creating jobs, economy better, more people than ever on heath insurance, "cutting deficit in half," infrastructure, energy, "stuff" (you'd think the most eloquent speaker of all time would find a Thesaurus), clean energy, amnesty, acting alone with or without Congress." Same ole same ole.
If I am not mistaken, he had both houses of Congress and his big ole mandate in 2008. He did not act on amnesty because he was worried about re-election in 2012 (which sort of negates his statement today in not acting on any issue with regard to politics...except, then, he admits he is not running again, so what the hell, torpedoes).
He basically dares, double and triple dares, Congress to come up with immigration reform prior to his acting alone. Whines that the Dem Senate had one but the good Speaker could not do anything.
Here is what I dare the current House to do: Put before Harry the Cross-Eyed Opossum the current immigration LAW on the books which includes border security. Possibly (as I do not know) screening for disease (one would think?), plus deportation of felons (which they have, under WH, quit doing). Do that, Secretary Boehner. Do it and let the MSM know you did it, with a few amendments attached that are good ones for the GOP. Do it. Let Reid not let it come to a vote in this Congress. Then see how quickly the preznit reacts. He is daring them for "reform." Which, one would assume, in their language is blanket amnesty across the board.
One issue I will ask is will these illegals, here for a long time, with children who are now legal...will they automatically get back Social Security benefits while here illegally? Cause that is a no for me. No.
Ok, back to drone speech. He starts out about half of his usual hyper narcissism, winds down to almost putting himself to sleep by the time Major asks his question. Then, in closing comments, it was almost like he had an ear-bud and was prompted or something, but "mopey" was a good description. Tired. Poopie-pants.
And, so, after six years in office, and maybe meeting with McConnell and, hell, Democrats (so they say) more than once or twice over those years, he is now waking up, daily, wanting to make a difference. Then he goes back to the same ole same ole: jobs, minimum wage, students paying off loans, housing, etc. campaign stump speech. But there is a marked difference in his eyes from the beginning of the speech to the end and his winding down.
I will now go read y'all's posts, but that was my take and man, am I sleepy from those sssssssssssssszzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, "folks."

Agreed. Similar exemptions apply to other froo-froo drinks. If you're at a girl's party, and she and her girlfriends are drinking shit drinks with pink umbrellas in them, it's acceptable to drink one so as to be a gentleman, but no more than that. Carry a half pint of real liquor with you and sneak shots in the bathroom after that.
Normally, tequila should only be consumed in shots with slices of lemon or lime and salt licked off the back of your hand.
And +50 on no fucking vodka in martinis. I hate it when I have to specify "Yes, with gin. Really." to some 25 year old hipster "bartender".

I am so glad I waited until to day, like a virgin, to hear a speech. I could easily compare it to the pre-immaculation of 2008. Same words delivered in a sleepier more sedated (literally) monotone. I am telling you he was dozing off at the end with droopy eyes, with arm propped on podium. He probably does this same speech in his sleep, complete with halitosis and stinky feet (per Mooch).
He seems to have lost his pizazz and replaced it with zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
