Even with enough caskets and urns, disposal is still a big problem.

Well, that's how "medical mistakes" happen. Not every nurse, technician or doctor for that matter , graduates first in their class.
I know health care professionals that are as much like sheep as anyone else. Do exactly as their told without ever thinking on their own, or ever considering that possibly the procedure or process is wrong, needs improved, etc.
Even in the medical profession, there are those who simply consider it a job and do the least they can to put in their 8 hour shift. It's not the norm, but those people are there.

That hospital has to be toast. How many admissions do you think they've had during the past week or so? Would you want anything done there? I'd be like "Hell, no, doctor, perform my colonscopy or my stet in your living room if you have to but I really don't want to go near that hospital."
That's another way even a handful of cases will have a massive impact - neither staff nor patients will want to go near those hospitals.

I have a lot of pity for Patient #2 and all nurses and docs on the front lines who had inadequate equipment. I don't get it. I really don't. In 2001 our hospital was ready for the worst possible scenario like this. Complacency? This post-Bush era is fabulous with "stay calm" at the golf cart in his effing windbreaker.
I do know that this wonderful administration did away with a law in 2010 about, uh, stopping flights from countries that endanger us with disease. It was one of those pesky W. Bush laws. We don't want to hurt feelings!

The assistant health office for the region my city is in told me point blank on the phone "Don't worry about calling me with anything you need. There are no stupid questions. This is scary stuff!" So even though they were caught flat footed, they are catching up now.

Sure it occurred to her but even nurses are not experts on emerging diseases never before seen in the us. Her instincts were not to fly and she called the experts or what she thought were the experts. She probably won't infect anyone if she was in the early stage, maybe the disease load was low enough. But I don't blame her for believing the cdc. They are supposed to know.
I blame then entirely for being lazy, incompetent idiots. For mishandling this entire thing. For being responsible for her getting a deadly disease by recommending bad protocols.

What if the way they're acting and what they do, is that how they've seen what white Presidents and the First lady do? So they're doing it too?
Almost as parody. First Ladies are noted for having these little social causes and maybe a program or two inspired by her or backed by her.
Presidents go golfing and run around to different countries sucking up to other white leaders to no apparent good. And as far as policy, how many Presidents would appear to have done the world any good to those who have a bias against Republicans and have few Democrats to emulate.

I suspect that there are still 'serious' people at the CDC; however, their projects/departments aren't the 'fair-haired children' of the CDC.
The 'favor' of managers matter; they set staffing priorities, they OK additional funding (and set the baseline budgets for projects), and they decide who gets a fast-track, and who gets the 'spotlight' for their efforts.
I think we're getting a decent sense of the management of the CDC right now... and their past priorities: any pop-science that furthers societal 'engineering' and/or control .

I hear you on that one, ma'am. My own mother was a RN for decades, and in her day on the units cleanliness WAS next to godliness. The doctors also spent less time on electronic widgets and talked to the nurses directly, because that was where the info came from. (That is what she said anyway.) For myself, I will guess that the Dallas hospital admin staff wussed out and deferred to the CDC for guidance. The reward for their request was a lot of BS spin and directionless talk that needlessly exposed too many people, and made them all look retarded in front of the world. I know SONA won't let the hospital and Obummer's bootlickers pin the blame on the nurses. I know that they won't bother to ask the nurses for input either.

Not so much a home test as a quick test for health care folks so they know (or have an idea) of what they're dealing with right away.
They've gotten some money and clearance by the FDA for testing and what they have so far works on monkeys.
The trick is for human testing you have to have ebola infected subjects so you can test normally and compare with the quick test. Because it is so deadly so quick, that an ethical dilemma for the testers.

That is the really insidious thing about Ebola. The first symptoms are very mild. A person could go about their normal business just feeling "a little bit under the weather".
Most of us are used to "toughing it out" and going to work when we feel just a little bit ill. Only a hypochondriac calls in sick or goes to the emergency room under those circumstances.

That's my point: everyone's metabolic rate is different. Were I to become infected, it'd probably be 24-25 days before I was "symptomatic". Others may be symptomatic in 17-18 days,
21 days is just the average incubation period.
Three weeks is what we have to work with.

This possibility is supported by histologic examination of archived tissues from one human reference case of Marburg on file in this institute; examination by immunocytochemistry and electron microscopy revealed no positive Marburg viral antigen staining or any ultrastructural evidence of virus in the lung tissue of that case (personal communication,
N. Jaax).
We also demonstrated aerosol transmission of
Ebola virus at lower temperature and humidity than that normally present in sub-Saharan Africa. Ebola virus sensitivity to the high temperatures and humidity in the thatched, mud, and wattel huts shared by infected family members in southern Sudan and northern Zaire may have been a factor limiting aerosol transmission of Ebola virus in the African epidemics.
Both elevated temperature and relative humidity (RH) have been shown to reduce the aerosol stability of viruses (Songer 1967). Our experiments were conducted at 24C and
haemorrhagic fever viruses, Rift Valley fever and Lassa (Stephenson et a/. 1984; Anderson et a/. 1991).
If the same holds true for filoviruses, aerosol transmission is a greater threat in modern hospital or laboratory settings than it is in the natural climatic ranges of viruses.

Texas has quarantine laws on the books. Perry has the authority (and the duty) to enforce them. Right now the local cops and perhaps the Texas Rangers could handle it, but if need be it could be escalated to the level of calling out the Texas Guard. Every doctor and nurse who treated the first patient should have been isolated. Everyone who had contact with him should have been isolated.
Not only did that not happen, you had reporters, judges, and God knows who else traipsing through the victim's apartment for days. Jesse Friggin' Jackson down there handing out hugs, for Christ's sake.
Perry "being overseas" isn't an excuse. We have these things called "cell phones" nowadays. I assume Perry has heard of them.
