I read Liberal Fascism when it first came out, and it was clear that it was written in part to forestall a Hillary Clinton presidency.
There is a whole chapter devoted to her, but Obama is only mentioned two or three times in the entire book. At the time it was written, she was the presumptive favorite for the Democrat nomination, while Obama was barely a blip on the radar.

Charles McCarry wrote a novel in the '90s called Lucky Bastard about a thinly disguised Bill Clinton who was recruited by the KGB at Oxford with a thinly disguised Hillary as his agent handler. Good novel. Totally ignored.
The Birchers were pretty embarrassing in some ways but they were right about infiltration. The Soviets deeply infiltrated the universities and government and then arranged for them to cross-pollinate. I'm pretty much convinced that State and CIA are being operated by Russian agents, at least at the upper levels.

Is anybody watching Gotham on FOX? I watched the first three episodes today. I'm not into the comic-book hero movies, but Gotham was interesting. I liked how all the villains are being introduced and getting their backstory. The show is pretty dark and grim, though, which I generally don't like, so I'm not sure if I'll stick with Gotham. I feel like I'm living in a dystopia - I don't need to watch one for entertainment.

Originally a Cardinals fan. Happened in 1964 at the age of nine. World series updates over the intercom at school.
Stayed that way till 69. Always still loved the Cards too though. Gibson, Brock, Flood... what a team.

A lot of JBS guys and gals were great. In grassroots political organizations the most extreme members tend to gravitate to the leadership positions. They control the image with what they put out, and they send an improper impression of what the organization is really all about.
That gives the ammo to the other side. The 'nut' attack is the easiest, there's no policy to argue. That's why libs use the nut-racist-waronwomen-greed-etc. stuff.

Which is weird given the years he spent working with UNIT. They let us know this season his father wanted him to be a soldier and didn't have a terribly high opinion of him, and it's pretty clear that the Doctor and Clara's anti military bigotry is foolish. Though I guess many of the show's viewers wouldn't catch that.
But there was also the episode when the Sontarans were trying to terraform Earth where everything was falling apart right up to the point that UNIT ignored the Doctor and started engaging them with force. And the whole thing with the Time Lords. It's pretty clearly the civilian leadership following Rassilon that turned the universe against them. In The Time of the Doctor, the military were the reasonable ones he could coordinate with.

I appreciate Pertwee a lot more now, than I did at the time. More so his run, than him as doctor, though. The poor bastard had the misfortune of being stuck between the 2 best doctors and arguably the 2 best runs. But, there's some of the best stuff they ever did in those years and classic stuff with The Master etc. Plus, Pertwee himself seemed kinda lame back then, but he did A-ok as the doctor.
