Surprise! Name Floated as Possible Holder Replacement Has Prior History of Slow-Walking Information

@johnekdahl remembered the name "Kathryn Ruemmler" and sent this along.

This is Buzzfeed, by the way.

Ruemmler is the ex-White House counsel here.

Advisers Urged Obama Early On To Release Comprehensive Benghazi Timeline

How Obama got tripped up by his lawyers.

WASHINGTON -- The White House Counsel's office advised senior Obama officials to keep quiet about the attack in Benghazi during the weeks preceding last year's November presidential election, according to two administration sources.

BuzzFeed has learned that key members of President Obama’s national security team... pushed to release a comprehensive timeline of events documenting the attack...

Those plans were quashed, however, when the White House Counsel's office, which is led by Kathryn Ruemmler, advised the officials to not release any information to the public out of fear it could be used against them in any subsequent investigations and other legal complications.

...

Ruemmler has also come under fire this week for not making the president and others aware of the IRS investigation.

Buzzfeed links one account of that story, but I'll link the WaPo.

White House senior aides knew details of IRS probe but didn't tell Obama, spokesman says

By Juliet Eilperin and Zachary A. Goldfarb May 20, 2013

Senior White House officials, including Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, learned last month about a review by the Treasury Department’s inspector general into whether the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, but they did not inform President Obama, the White House said Monday.

The acknowledgement is the White House's latest disclosure in a piecemeal, sometimes confusing release of details concerning the extent to which White House officials knew of the IG’s findings that IRS officials engaged in the "inappropriate" targeting of conservative non-profits for heightened scrutiny. Previously, the White House said counsel Kathryn Ruemmler did not learn about the final results of the investigation until the week of April 22nd, and had not disclosed that McDonough and other aides had also been told about the investigation. On Monday, White House Spokesman Jay Carney said a member of Ruemmler's staff learned of the probe the week of April 16; Ruemmler learned of the investigation on April 24th; and after that point she informed the chief of staff and other aides about the probe's findings.

The White House has said President Obama did not learn of the IRS's actions until he saw news reports on the matter earlier this month.

Even Lanny Davis was moved to demand her resignation if this were true.

I've been told today by several reporters that President Obama’s White House counsel, Kathryn Ruemmler, knew for several days -- perhaps weeks --that some Internal Revenue Service officials were engaging in political targeting of conservative groups, and that she did not tell the president as soon as she knew even partial reports about the story.

With all due respect to someone who has impeccable legal credentials, if she did have such foreknowledge and didn’t inform the president immediately, I respectfully suggest Ms. Ruemmler is in the wrong job and that she should resign.

He also said this:

It is also hard to understand why some people in the media who apparently knew about this foreknowledge by the White House counsel and her failure to tell the president missed this story and its significance.

With respect, Mr. Davis, I don't believe any of this is "hard to understand."

Noah Rothman examines some other possibilities, including the Beta version of Obama, Deval Patrick.

But do not fret -- the White House is calling upon all the wisest jurists for advice as to Holder's replacement.

By which I mean Al Sharpton says he's helping to pick the next attorney general, per Business Insider.

59 I don't know, guys. If the GOP were to oppose a clean and articulate female women of color for the AG position, in light of how popular the president remains to this day, the moderates would probably take that as a sign of typical GOP war on women tactics. We need to let go of our extremist tea party christian roots socially conservative anchor and resist the urge to inquire about things of which there's not a smidgeon of corruption. After all, NOT EVEN REAGAN could get nominated in today's strident, closed minded GOP. er... I mean, ahem, that blocking any nomination would drive moderates from the GOP, so we should act in good faith and let the president have his chosen person, as is tradition.

But Mr Moo Moo will be very indignant that he's nothing like those barbaric terrorist-supporters. After all, he's a Real American Patriot (TM).

Nietzsche had an observation about Abysses and Monsters. Maybe google it, Moo Moo.

...

Let me add something else here.

There are some people who see what they would call "evil" -- and have a sense that the world should be a better place -- but rather than arguing for a better world or, more importantly, *being that better person who thus marginally makes the world better,* decide that they will be evil too, because why not?

A lot of vicious moral actors justify their behavior by mentioning the behavior of others, which they claim to be corrupt. Killers frequently shrug off moral objections to their murders by claiming the cops are corrupt, and "good people" (non-criminal citizens) are bad, too, they just hide it.

If one wishes to join sociopaths in the shit and human blood of justifying savagery and evil, then I suppose there is no point in arguing with that person. Someone who has decided that there is no evil he can't justify will not be amenable to moral suasion.

What the rest of us should do is note such a person as either a callow clown (at best, if he doesn't mean it, but just wishes to vent his ugly venom) or as one of the brotherhood of sociopaths he has decided to join.

But meanwhile we should endeavor to be good ourselves, and better than we are, because that's what a "better world' is, just a few billion people trying to be better than their inherent natures.

- My Lt. Governor wrecks his state issued car driving in the wee hours of the morning at 108 miles an hour, and I've had his phone records completely blocked for years now. He got a slap on the wrist. No one has unearthed what he was doing out at such a time (claimed he was surveying storm damage in the pitch black, or that he was just out to get a coffee and paper miles away from his home, etc).

- My DCF (Department of Children and Families) has "lost" many kids under their protection (hundreds), and botched things so bad allowing several to be killed. I did nothing to help Justina Pelletier when the DCF kidnapped her from her CT family, and nearly killed her by treating her like an animal. I protected the stooge that was in charge for quite a long time, and it wasn't until just recently that she resigned.

- I'm opening a new front of the #WarOnWomen after booting two women who were in charge of trying to register sex offenders because they had the temerity to try to register my brother-in-law who IS A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER (against my own wife).

I have so many of the qualifications that Beary would be looking for in his top law enforcement official.

...

the fineness of your distinction is something to behold.

Mr. Moo Moo, let me suggest something. There are two contradictory impulses within each human being:

First: The desire to appear respectable; to think respectable thoughts; to be a better person.

Second: The desire to say "The Hell with Pretense" and let it all hang out, all of it, even the ugliest stuff.

Every human being feels torn between these two impulses from time to time.

If you want my opinion, society generally has gone too far towards the second impulse.

I think a bit of pretense and attempt at Respectability is a good thing.

I think you are going much farther than even our own debased society in showing off so much of your "Dark Truths."

I would say to you the same thing I would say to some low-class asshole who justifies his asshole behavior by saying "I gotta be me:"

But I never asked to see "the true you."

I never did. I never asked for that. I never probed. I never asked that you show me the REAL you, the you that doesn't give a shit about conventions or courtesy.

195 Serious question (if a bit off-topic):

In 1965 LBJ signed into law the "Elementary and Secondary Education Act," which is the thing that instituted federal funding of public schools and was extremely influential, including up until today.

HOWEVER, it was passed at the time when the opponents got their one sticking point accepted: while the Fed can fund schools, there can never be a national curriculum. The curriculum must always be left up to local districts:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elementary_and_Secondary_Education_Act

"The act is an extensive statute that funds primary and secondary education, while explicitly forbidding the establishment of a national curriculum."

However, now, the Common Core is essentially becoming a "National curriculum" anyway.

How is this legal?

Is it legal because Common Core is not being forcibly imposed by the Feds from above, but instead is being "voluntarily" adopted by each state individually? And that the Left is sneaking a national curriculum in on us anyway by (via "the long march through the institutions") taking over school boards state by state across the country, and then having done so, all agree to adopt the same Marxist national curriculum rather than imposing some leftist variant individually in each state?

Or am I stretching the legal case, and it is illegal, but no one's yet noticed?

Grrrrr........

Guaranteed she is on "the list" of potential nominees -- the question is, strategically speaking perhaps the left already has her trajectory planned:

SF AG --> CA AG --> CA Guv --> POTUS

...and appointing her US AG would derail the plan.

Interesting concept: Her supporters may NOT want her promoted to US AG because they think she has a lock on the CA governorship, which would be a better launching pad for the White House run in 2020 or 2024. And that as a result, they're advising O to cross her off the list.

Could be, could be...

if i thought you really would not care at all if hundreds of NYers -- children, innocents, men, women, even *LIBERALS* -- were slaughtered, I would think you were actually a sociopath.

I doubt that. I do think less of you but not THAT much less. I think you're just doing what people do, feeling impotent, feeling angry, and trying to vent in a way that relieves the pressure and which (some think) will attract Social Credit to them, as Hard-Ass Truth Tellers.

Listen, dude, what you put out into the world does affect the world, if only this little microcosm of the comment areas.

You have made several people's lives darker and more upsetting today. You probably did not intend that.

But you did that.

One of the most important attributes a Man can have, short of physical courage or moral courage, is grace.

Act with grace. Be in control of yourself. Do not lose the plot. Do not go to pieces. Do not beclown yourself by spitting out impotent (but dark) curses, like an old Gypsy crone.

Be a Man. Tough it up and be aware that every one of us is a support system for someone else, sometimes.

I'm not 100% sure of Moo Moo's position and its easy to see it isn't popular, possibly being it was stated badly or becoz of past remarks adding to a pattern. Its true there are a lot of innocents in NYC and its also true that a lot of Lefty's would have a laff at your expense were it you and yours being attacked. For myself, I will never forget nor forgive the denizens of NYC for allowing the Ground Zero Mosque and I do think they were the first in our nation to forget 9/11 despite telling everyone else to never forget. I don't want to see bloodshed and sure I'd be sad if it happened but no, I won't donate a cent anymore, won't volunteer to help anymore. Sorry, I just need more from them.

++++++
NYC denizens believe themselves above the fray when in fact they are at ground zero. It is their lifestyle and morals and disproportionate power the headchoppers despise. They chose to abandon the successful efforts of America's best sons to appease their sworn killers while chiding their defenders as 'stupid' and 'backward'. I dare say they have not earned any respect with the headchoppers and clearly no goodwill with those that carry the rifles in their defense. So again, should NYC be hit again, who should come to their rescue?

285 Obama Bans Landmine Use Against Military Leaders' Advice http://shar.es/1aJhXG via @sharethis

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has advised the administration against the decision and referred to these landmines as "an important tool."

"I have rendered my military advice that I consider land mines, especially the ones that we have ... to be an important tool in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of the United States," Dempsey told Congress earlier this year.

Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti, commander of United Nations Command and U.S. Forces Korea, also explained the need for landmines when asked by Congress earlier this year.

"I have provided my best military advice on the issue as well. And it is my assessment that landmines are a critical element in the defense of the Republic of Korea and our interest there," Scaparrotti said. "And they are a critical element of our contingency plans, as well."

..

The administration first announced in June, again against the advice of military leaders, that it would no longer procure landmines in an effort to accede to the Ottawa Convention, despite not being a signatory of the treaty.

309 sorry I didn't mean to suggest others were lynching him.

That came out wrong. I was trying to take ownership of my own Pounce on the Other reaction.

I did not mean to rope anyone else in to my confession.

However, I still think I'm right.

You know how the sociopathic left justifies its bad behavior and hatred? By saying "The right does it!"

Look, we can go back and forth on this all day and all just join the sociopaths at the bottom of the barrel in both of our respective cohorts.

or we can try to be a little bit better.

One thing I meant to say about the chivalric code was this:

Martial honor is NOT the same as compassion, or empathy. The Christian values of compassion and empathy are borne out of a concern for those who suffer, or those we harm.

That's not what martial honor is or was, though it did tend to duplicate (in the main) Christian values.

But martial honor is selfish. It is egotistical. It is not primarily about showing respect for others.

It's about showing respect for the SELF.

Sometimes people abstain from dark or low talk not because they fear the effects on the targets or other people, but because they are egotistical and do not consider such behavior to accord with *personal* honor.

Some things we do, or do not do, out of *personal* honor, less than any genuine fellow-feeling for other people (or our opponents).

Some things we do, or do not do, because of Mirrors. We always have to look into that mirror and decide if we respect the man on the other side of it.

A lot of this stuff gets cast as "sympathizing for our enemies!!! Sympathizing for the liberals!!!"

Not always so. Sometimes it's just about maintaining a code of *personal* honor.

317 Mr. Moo Moo;
You can be convinced the Left is the Enemy and yet have compassion for his family in a disaster. I do.

You can even think the political gulf is unbridgeable due to the actions of traitors and will never be repaired. I do.

But I don't scream at people who are rolling up their sleeves to try to fix it. I admire them. I think they have no chance of winning, but I don't yell at them.

You can be at your last legs because you see nothing but failure. That's okay, I have had many days just like that. You can mourn America and think she is dead forever. I already bought flowers and think of my country in the past tense.

But I don't scream at people and try to justify my hate and anger by permanently approving of the acts of the Enemy.

I mourn quietly. I toss out quips. I try to take hope from those around me and - every few days, try on hope for myself.

I do this because I know how close to the edge others can be. I hate to ever think I would darken someone's life enough for them to snuff it.

Because most days, I can see that edge, and most days, it's just inches.

Man up and quit trying to push people closer to that darkness.

The eventual opinion of the Allied Bombing Command was that there was no such thing as innocent Germans. They all contributed to the war effort one way or the other, so they were all fair game as far as the Allies were concerned.

Now of course this is nonsense, but the Allies were faced with the fact that their bombing was simply not accurate enough to distinguish between military and civilian targets, so they ended up rationalizing (They were all bad) what they didn't have any choice about doing.

The point is not to draw comparisons between Urban Terrorist targets and German civilians, the point *I* was making is that people can only put forth the morality they can afford. If the morality you want will cost you the war, then you can't afford it.

Had the Allies restricted their bombing to *ONLY* military targets, they would have gotten butchered.

Again, my point has nothing to do with a terrorist attack on a Liberal urban area. It has to do with such things as prosecuting the hell out of Liberal individuals and organizations. It has to do with boycotting Liberal organizations. It has to do with bringing the powers of the state against our political enemies in the same manner that they do it to us. (Dinesh D'Souza anyone?"

I'm addressing those people who say we can't behave like Democrats because we're better than that. Well the Democrats are winning and we are getting eaten alive, so if we don't change tactics, we may not have to worry about it much longer.

This is crap that little children do. Who the f*ck cares about anyone's fantasies or wishes? They mean nothing.

I wish i had a million dollars.

And so what?

This just seems to be some kind of weird thing we've picked up from the left, the "confessional" mode of "politics," where we talk about our feelings and our wishes and are dark desires and somehow try to connect that to real-world, tangible stuff.

It doesn't connect. it sounds impotent. It sounds about as far from manly as I can imagine.

People who believe otherwise are not American-are not 'us.' Too many of you have misread the term 'American' and accepted its definition as 'subjects of the band of thieve is Washington D.C.

...

everybody does. Mr. Moo Moo is hardly alone in having dark thoughts.

But why say them?

Especially when they do not appear to be thought out, only *felt* out.

we have two people in us, the "real" us and the "best" us, which is really just an aspiration and doesn't exist.

But what's all this nonsense about the "real" us being the one we should show to the world?

That's not a very conservative notion; conservatives have tended to be the defenders of tradition, manners, decorum, and, yes, social pretense.

Pretense isn't such a terrible thing as it's been thought of these last few decades.

I'm not as good a person as I'm pretending right now. Mr. Moo Moo's thoughts have, in fact, occurred to me, or at least thoughts like that, certainly ones i'm not proud of, not ones I'd want to associate myself with.

I try to avoid them because of pretense. I want people to think I am more rational and more moral than I am, so I pretend to be more rational and more moral than I am.

That's not as good as being actually *Better*, of course, but the imitation of "better" can pass for better 90% of the time, and what's wrong with that?

Posted by: ace at September 25, 2014 03:12 PM (/FnUH)

358 I'm not 100% sure of Moo Moo's position and its easy

past remarks adding to a pattern. Its true there are a lot of innocents

your expense were it you and yours being attacked. For myself, I will
never forget nor forgive the denizens of NYC for allowing the Ground
Zero Mosque and I do think they were the first in our nation to forget
9/11 despite telling everyone else to never forget. I don't want to see

Yes, the Islamist hate us all, but who do they hate the most? I suggest that they hate the more decadent amongst us, and the more powerful and influential amongst us.

These spheres of influence overlap in the same set of Demographics. Rich Liberals.

A reasonable conclusion would be that the Islamists are more likely to hate Liberals more than they do Conservatives.

besides I thought it was awesome because it gave Greg Gutfeld the opportunity to demand the city allow a "muslim gay bar" be permitted right next door.

I try to avoid them because they frightened me. I liked them too much. Like using profanity thoughtlessly. The dark would come out whenI didn't want it to. I wasn't a pleasant person to be around and I was afraid something bad was going to happen, that indulging in the dark thoughts too often - to the point that I could no longer recognize them as being dark thoughts - could lead to a dark action.

I am being dead serious here with this. I cleaned up the language, I relax and smile more often, and I'm finding the dark thoughts aren't there like they once were, and are no longer as intense, and I feel much better about it.

These spheres of influence overlap in the same set of Demographics. Rich Liberals.

I discovered an interesting factoid reading about data mining of Facebook like sites as controlled by race and sex. I do not recall the article but what struck me as interesting is that they found Arab and Latin males in their 20s had high positive responses to the movie Forrest Gump. This measure took place 14 years after the movie's release. Given Gump the movie is a Christian theme, the weak shall inherit, I found it odd that young Arab (Muslims) responded to it so highly. It would not be too radical to surmise that their response reveals a strong connection to hearth, home and tradition.

This is exactly what I was trying to say earlier. It does seem a reasonable conclusion that the Islamists hate them more than middle America. (Though they hate Middle America too, just not as bad.)

I think it is axiomatic that most attacks will be directed (if possible) at the Centers of Power among which New York is probably the pinnacle.

New York, Washington, and Chicago are my guesses as to the primary preferences of the Islamic terrorists, but they will take whatever targets of opportunity presents itself, of that I have no doubt.

404 U.S. District Court Judge John D. Bates has denied a request from the Department of Justice to delay the release of a list of Operation Fast and Furious documents being protected under President Obama's assertion of executive privilege.
The list, better known as a Vaughn index, was requested through a June 2012 FOIA filing by government watchdog Judicial Watch. When DOJ didn't respond to the FOIA request in the time required by law, Judicial Watch sued in September 2012, seeking all documents DOJ and the White House are withholding from Congress under executive privilege claims. President Obama made the assertion on June 20, 2012 just moments before Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt. In July 2014, after two years of battling for information, Judge Bates ordered the Department of Justice to release the Vaughn Index by October 1. DOJ responded by asking for a month long delay in releasing the list with a deadline of November 3, just one day before the 2014-midterm elections. That request has been denied. A short delay was granted and DOJ must produce the Vaughn index by October 22.

As I mentioned earlier, I did not see him make such an allegation. I have since been informed that he made it on another thread.

Now that i've been informed of it, I doubt he really means it. Morelike it is just an expression of frustration at seeing something coming and being unable to do anything about it.

413 Trying to raise the bar on civility isn't a bad goal, but we've got to realize where we are.

We're not, as a civilization, the rational, objective, courteous group of well meaning people that we would like to think of ourselves as.

There are people cutting heads off because we don't pray like they do. People drink water from ditches and die of diseases that were cured 80 years ago. We are on the tip of the scale for polite society, which is nice but not exactly where we need to be at this particular moment in history.

Being enamored with the thought of being better than you are and acting on behalf of "goodness" instead of "badness", lends one to make decisions that project this same quest for goodness in others - when it's not there.

There are those who think the world would be fine if we could just hug everyone. As conservatives, hopefully we still realize that this would only lead to being stabbed in the gut.

Nice is pleasant, but realistic is better.

416 Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword....wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple Wordpress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin
