Early Morning Open Thread - [Niedermeyer's Dead Horse]

Good morning.

Here's something pretty.

And here's something that will make you giggle.

Have a great day.

UPDATE: I had to add this. It just came across my TL and made me snort.

34 Went to the Goodwill Distribution Center downtown yesterday, which is like a third world country of people picking over hundreds of bins of second-hand castoffs. I don't go there very often because there's very little to find if you're not looking for clothes or glassware (never understood the glassware interest).

Miraculously, from the bottom of one bin I pulled a Vic-20 computer cartridge (a Rally-X knockoff), but even more interesting, a 1913 recording of Scottish music hall singer Harry Lauder singing 'I Love A Lassie,' his major hit.

I'd read about Lauter, even seen footage of him with Chaplin, but really thought finding the disc, uncovered but still unbroken, to be a pretty neat thing. It still plays, too!

One little bright spot in what otherwise was a real shitty day.

The dragonfly pic is beautiful. It reminds me of my buddies trichomes, which reminds me of an unusually early attack of bud rot (caused by cool, damp weather), which reminds me of how much bullsh!t AGW is. All of which also reminds me of a Drudge link to mysterious men rappelling from helicopter to chop down peoples' "herb" gardens. Lots of keyboard commando commentators at the Drudge linked article claim they'd shoot anybody doing that because it's just plain unconstitutional. And *that* gives me a glimmer of hope that some people still get the freedom thingy this country was founded on.

I forgot to mention the one of Stalin thumbing his nose at the photographer.

See? Ol' Joe was just a regular guy who liked to clown around.

Sorta like Barry and his surreptitious middle finger.

@73 Just a guess, obviously, but if they kill tackle football from
adolescence up, they will futther reduced the space where a kid learns
to eat dust at the bottom of the pile, to move and to hit hard, and to
play within the rules.

If it looks like they're winning, we'll need to substitute individual martial arts practice, and marksmandhip.

Posted by: hNREx at 0742h CDT, 13.ix.14 at September 13, 2014 08:36 AM (hNREx)

Fair guess, but I don't think they're stupid enough to try to outright kill tackle football. There's something else going on. We know all this stuff is coordinated, so someone has an agenda. My fevered brain ranges from everything from removing football from colleges to somehow manipulating NFL sponsorship dollars.

It's usually a money thing. And I suck with money, so I can't figure it out.

105 "...anagrams. ... 'palindrome'."

HAHAHA + DUH + ARRGH! My brain actually blanked on the word, and when "anagram" came to me, I went with it without a thought (obviously). Thanks for the correction. Sheesh!

Or, no, autocorrect, yeah, that was it. (Wait, I'm on cousin's notebook and it doesn't have autocorrect.)

Is a palindrome actually a special form of anagram, considering the letters don't look rearranged, nor form a different phrase when reversed?
