The official line in Islam is that if you've recited the shahadah, the profession of faith, once in your life, that's it, you're a Muslim, you've accepted Islam. After that you can't renounce the faith. If you do, it's apostasy and the penalty for that is death. Specifically such.
Obama has recited the shahadah several times in his adult life, including doing so after supposedly converting to Christianity.
The fact that you don't see huge demonstrations in the Islamic world calling for Obama to suffer the penalty for apostasy is that they are all pretty much quietly convinced he's one of them still.

Think about this sentiment, syntactically.
It is a command -- "Bring" is the verb in the sentence and it is in the "imperative mood," which is almost always thought to be second-person -- i.e. the "you" is left out:

Is he exhorting Boko Haram to bring back the girls? Again, an absurd notion, considering that the purpose of the kidnapping was to infuriate us, and also considering that Boko Haram's very existence is based on hatred of the West's goals.
And we already ascertained that Obama isn't exhorting himself or the U.S. military to act, because he doesn't need to beg the U.S. Special Forces to act by sending out a hashtag: he is the Commander in Chief, after all.
So who is the audience for this exhortation?
No one, that's who. No one is actually being exhorted to do anything. As we just showed.
The very exercise is a hollow gesture. Its vacuity is a complete insult to our intelligence, and a guarantee that the girls will never be returned.
And everyone retweeting this is a participant in the charade, and becomes partly responsible for their non-return, because by retweeting you are communicating to the kidnappers that we have no ammunition, no plan, nothing but an impotent bleat.

That's largely what happened in South Sudan if I remember correctly. And now after a few years of relative peace it's descending into chaos.
In Africa, there are no easy fixes that don't involve lots of high explosives. Hell, one could say that about most of the world.

In all seriousness, part of me thinks the US should send some marines in to rescue these girls. But there could be unintended consequences. I wouldn't worry so much about those if they happened to be Americans (or allies).
