I never believed that there was some central control being exerted on the media by the Democrats and their handlers on the hard Left. But recently I have come to the conclusion that it is entirely possible. Perhaps likely.
Jake Tapper is no great reporter, but he seemed to have just a shred of integrity, and sometimes even asked tough questions. That he was unable to think of a series of intelligent questions to ask a neophyte like Fluke isn't just suspect -- it's laughable. One thing I wish someone would ask her - is there a pregnancy problem at the Georgetown University? Cuz, that's one of the justifications for this new policy, right, that all these women are getting pregnant because they can't afford to purchase birth control. And, if it's not a problem, then the university is not going to experience all these "savings" that Sebelius keeps talking about. In fact, at $1,000 per female student per year just for the contraceptives, that's quite an addition to the student budget.

The news media has never been "unbiased". Even in colonial times the pamplets and news rags were rabidly partisan between one camp or another.
The difference then vs now is that there was an equal distribution between the camps. Now ALL the news media is solidly in the back pocket of the liberals and Democrats. There may be one or two papers that are Republican leaning but they are so rare few people ever seem them. Posted by: Vic at March 04, 2012 04:20 PM (YdQQY) 72

I'd say Tapper is "half right," in telling others to take up the mantle of journalism from corrupt party hacks like him, and do it properly, because he won't.
Of course, that leaves the "captured propaganda organ fuckstick" half for us to bash. This is one of the larger strategies of "press propaganda," of course, the "question unasked." Does anyone know if Tapper was a Hillaryite in 2008? That would explain why he asked a few "tough questions" of Obama for the first couple of years, before he surrendered to the inevitable. I had a similar exchange with reporter Dave Delozier, Denver TV. Channel 9 I think. He gave an excited, glowing report at the auto show about one auto only. The Volt, which he called the "all-electric Chevy Volt". I emailed and asked him how the hell he called a car with gas engine "all-electric". He informed me that the GM people told him to call it that. I answered, "Are you a reporter or a shill for GM?" No answer back. Posted by: Meremortal at March 04, 2012 04:30 PM (Usk3+) 103

Actually do an interview where you try to get to the truth of the matter of a woman who, oh by the way, just happens to have made it her life's work for 'reproductive freedom,' or whatever, and is spewing a bunch of lies about $1,000.00 a year for birth control, or still get your paycheck?

Just look at Tapper's career: In 1992, Tapper was a campaign press secretary for Democratic congressional candidate Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (PA-13) and later served as her congressional press secretary. Tapper worked in public relations for Powell Tate, a Washington, D.C., public affairs firm run by Democrat Jody Powell and Republican Sheila Tate. He also worked briefly for Handgun Control Inc. (now the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence) in 1997. After writing many freelance stories, Tapper began his journalism career full time as a senior writer for the Washington City Paper from 1998 to 1999 and wrote about his experience going on a date with Monica Lewinsky in 1998 for that publication, in a story that skewered Washington's culture of scandal. He was the Washington correspondent for Salon.com from 1999 to 2002, where he was an early questioner of the Bush administration's claims about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. He has also contributed to GQ, The Weekly Standard, NPR's All Things Considered, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. In 2001 he hosted a TV show on CNN called Take Five in which young journalists and commentators discussed politics and pop culture. In 2002 he hosted a series of entertainment news specials on VH1 and in 2003 he hosted shows focused on independent film on the Sundance Channel. ABC News hired him in 2003. Tapper has been a frequent guest on the Imus in the Morning radio program. He is the author of the books Down and Dirty: The Plot to Steal the Presidency on the 2000 Presidential election and Body Slam: The Jesse Ventura Story. His comic strip Capitol Hell appeared in Roll Call from 1994 to 2003. He has also contributed cartoons to the American Spectator magazine, the Los Angeles Times, and The Philadelphia Inquirer. In 2006, he married Jennifer Marie Brown of St. Joseph, Missouri, who was a regional field manager in Washington, D.C. for Planned Parenthood Federation. On July 6, 2009, former MSNBC television personality Dan Abrams launched a website service, Mediaite, reporting on media figures. The site ranks all TV-based journalists in America by influence. Tapper ranks, as of December 2010, at number one. Tapper was considered one of the leading candidates to replace George Stephanopoulos as anchor of This Week. Stephanopoulos took over for Diane Sawyer, co-host of Good Morning America, when she assumed the role as anchor of World News. However, CNN's Christiane Amanpour was selected instead. Tapper served as the interim anchor until Amanpour took over the show on August 1, 2010. ------- He always was and still is a hard-core leftist. The only "conservative" to give him a pulpit was "stab you in the back" Bill Kristol. Posted by: Ed Anger - Certified Kos Kid at March 04, 2012 04:42 PM (7+pP9) 136

Well, since Jake Tapper is either too lazy or too liberal or both to do his job, lets assemble a list of question any actual reporter should ask this twit when given a chance. Here's a couple, just off the top of my head:
1. Ms. Frum, according to reports before you testified you were a 23 year old college student from Georgetown. However our research indicates that you are actually 30, and that the only reason you joined Georgetown was to challenge there policy on providing birth control coverage. Do you consider yourself a student, or an activist? Also, doesn't this taint your testimony before congress? 2. Ms. Frum, your claims that you spend on average $1,000 a year on birth control are obviously exaggerated and outrageous. Do you realize that under title 18 lying or misleading congress, even if your not testifying under oath, is a crime? Do you believe you should go to jail for these distortions, since you've obviously broken the law? Posted by: StuckOnStupid at March 04, 2012 04:49 PM (R5yLq) 145

News: American journalism has been DOA since 2008. Pravda was never so much in the tank for Brezhnev as the American press has been for Obama. They're now just the agitprop arm of the DNC. Look at Fast & Furious: greatest and most far-reaching scandal in modern American history, a Watergate with bodycount. No Republican president could hope to survive such a bloody debacle. Sitting up tall in a chair, with your arms hanging down, grab the bottom of the chairseat with your right hand on the right side and slowly tilt your left ear toward your left shoulder. You should resist the stretch with your right hand. Hold for about 10 seconds and then bring your head slowly back up. Next, while still holding on with your right hand, lower your head toward your left armpit. Hold and then bring your head back slowly. Repeat on other side with your left hand holding the bottom of your chairseat. Posted by: Tami at March 04, 2012 05:32 PM (X6akg) 198

The Women's liberation movement started from the premise that women did not need to rely on a paternalistic society and could take charge of their own lives. Women's liberation has devolved to begging the paternalistic government for free pills because apparently women are too weak, too impoverished, too impotent to obtain them on their own without the help of Big Daddy.

No doubt of the bias in media but I think most people read to much into these interviews. The simple reason most these 'journalist' don't ask the tough or important questions is because they don't put two and two together, they just aren't all that bright. And it isn't just the left, you want to see a "journalist' spend twenty minutes asking all the wrong questions, watch Hannity or O'Reilly.

But they're friendly / pedestrian with Democrats, and hostile to Republicans. The point here is that they DO ask a lot of questions of the "other side" (us), often hostile and misleading, and they play softball with the left. I'm sorry someone called Sandra Fluke an ugly name while she works to
subvert my First Amendment rights. It's funny how name calling is so much worse, in some people's eyes, than what she is doing. She chose to attend Georgetown because it is a Catholic school and does not pay for contraception specifically so she could challenge the policy. You have a lot of choices in this world, where you go to school, whether or not you use contraception, whether or not you want to birth a child once it is conceived, which job to take...It sure would be a shame if Catholics were denied their freedom to worship as they see fit. George Stephanopolos completely out-of-the-blue reference to contraceptives in the GOP primary debate a few months ago was not an act of psychic prescience. The Democrats have highly trained, extremely intelligent and well-paid people whose sole job it is to guide and manipulate messaging in accordance with Obama Administration (and now Obama campaign) goals. It was a setup from the beginning, a way to divert attention away from substantive economic and foreign policy issues and into the Foggy Bottom of culture war and social conservativism, a gray area where emotions, not reason, prevails. The Obama Administration must keep people from thinking at all costs, otherwise they might notice what's actually going on: loss of freedom, runaway (and mostly hidden) inflation, soaring energy prices, all of it. Our media has been taken over by special interest groups, and the Obama Regime.
Most people look back at Joseph Goebbels and his total domination of the German media and laugh.. How could people allow that to happen? Why did people go along with it? The Germans must have been sheep. Haha.. well, now we know exactly how the Germans allowed it to happen. Its occurred here, and reached levels of absurdity that I never thought possible.. and NOBODY IS SAYING ANYTHING.. (except us, of course) The Germans had the threat of violence hanging over their head in the early 30's when this occurred.. we don't... yet. If people said the Germans were sheep, then what does that make the average joe who accepts the shit sandwiches served up to them every day? Retarded sheep. It HAS happened here. Now we know why Germany was brainwashed. Half of us are full on zombies already. I just can't get over how members of the media can breathlessly report stories like this with a straight face. It sickens me so much its unbearable. Breitbart had a heart attack for this very reason I bet. The media is so absurd it just makes you angry as hell. I myself cannot stand it anymore. I just don't see this continuing for very long. The whole thing is so absurd! Tapper asking that garbage with a straight face? Dude, its your job jerk. How is this happening? I don't get it. I just noticed that Twitter has an embed link for each tweet. I don't know if this is new, but it is very handy for quickly inserting a tweet into a post. However, the text for the link is a very light grey, so it can be hard to see unless you know it's there.

So if it wasn't about her testimony why was he interviewing her?

There has never been unbiased journalism. Ever.
But back then, we had multiple voices, presenting different points of view. Readers could compare and contrast. Now, there is one voice, one point of view. It is presented relentlessly. No dissent is allowed. And that bias defends its monopoly by calling itself "objective". Posted by: Brown Line at March 05, 2012 05:49 AM (b06eH) 270
Not even looking at previous comments, no offense to anyone preceding me.
No brainer. I can describe my own job. Why can't Jake ? Cry for help ? ABC won't let him speak ? Doesn't understand the whole idea of the media being an "Estate" rests on their credibility as critics of their "fellow Estates" ? Posted by: SocietyIs2Blame at March 05, 2012 07:02 AM (Q8NAO) 271
Assimilating previous comments - he's obviously in the tank. We all sell out for pussy sometimes - those of us who are honest admit it. If you want me to say otherwise, Jay, give me one good reason. Or more - I'm not sure one will suffice anymore.
Sometimes it might be better to admit you have conflicted intestests and silence yourself. Just sayin'. Posted by: SocietyIs2Blame at March 05, 2012 07:07 AM (Q8NAO) 272
Calling this woman a slut or a prostitute instead of presenting a rational argument is a sign that you've lost the debate.
You haven't lost the debate because you've reduced yourselves to these slurs. You're using them because you've already lost. Posted by: kevinw at March 05, 2012 08:16 AM (afIq/) 273
Ace,You have to remember that Jake Tapper works at ABCwhich is owned by Disney. ABC will never, never report anything that is controversial because they are worried about supporting their $6 billion tourism industryand not worried about actuallyreporting the news. Jake is a good guy and probably one of the best journalists that is mainstream but if he evenhinted that he was confrontingMiss Fluke then he would be fired like theheadline reporter from ESPN. Womenmakeup half of our population and if ABC pisses them off then Disney thinks that they won't go to theMagic Kingdom. This is the biggest problem with an entertainment comapny owning a"news" reporting outlet. Good call on takinghim on though!

@jaketapper's been a bigtime lefty all his career. Starting at the DC left-wing pennysaver, "City Paper."
All that "standin' up to Obama" stuff is just window-dressing for the network suits, just in case a gig that needs a "fair and balanced" looking body comes along. Posted by: J. Moses Browning at March 05, 2012 11:40 AM (GiEaA) 275
Ace, dude, you are not getting the message.
