Obama On Leno

What's more retarded? Making a Special Olympics crack or saying Geithner is doing a heck of a job?

obamaurkelam.jpg

Gabe had the White House spin in his thread below but in case you missed it, here it is.

"The president made an off-hand remark making fun of his own bowling that was in no way intended to disparage the Special Olympics," White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton said.

Anybody but brain dead Democrats and members of the JurnoList (there's a Venn Diagram with perfect overlap) buying that crap?

This is so disgusting. It's not healthy for a republic to have a pop star as President.

In fairness, Leno asked a good question...isn't it wrong to pass a tax bill aimed at a group of unpopular people. Obama kind of ignored it and went on to talking points about raising taxes (the idiots in the audience clapped).

Then he asked something stupid about sending people from Merill Lynch to jail.

Oh well.

Another Retard Joke [ace]: Two retard jokes in one night. Brilliant.

h/t Someone.

Below...about the only thing John McCain got right last year.

8 Regulation solves everything, accd to Obama.

Jay says he's scared of 90% tax, obama holding answer to jay's question that he's scared of targeted uber taxes

retarded so far, almost as much as Obama's bowling game.

Incidentally, 129 is not that bad a score...about average.....so obama just insulted like 50 million people by calling their bowling skills retarded.

12 This stumbling, stuttering jackass is dodging most of the questions.

For example, when he was asked by Leno what he thinks about Congress taxing these bonuses at 90%, which scares a lot of people because Congress can just randomly decide to target people, he danced around it by talking about how, in the 90s, we had taxes to pay for college education, health care, etc.

Posted by: Brandon In Baton Rouge at March 19, 2009 11:11 PM (mySIW)

13 To me, this is less about the gaffe itself and more about this being the most recent in a stream of unacceptable comments from a man who represents our nation and our values to the rest of the world.

This is precisely the kind of crap that the MSM covered up during the election while representing him as a man who is above such things.

Posted by: Damiano at March 19, 2009 11:11 PM (cfKer)

14 He is coming off like a child on a playground:
(Can I be in your club now Jay? I have my own security detail, a plane-with special jacket...I'll see if I can't get one for you if you let me keep hanging out with the other cool kids)

ALSO: (flashback to Canada)
That old Sally Field movie "Soapdish"
Whenever things got bad for the washed up actress, she went "out to the mall" for an ego boost where people (fans) would fawn all over her.

It's coming across as a mixture of both.

Putrid. Not presidential.

He is an embarrassment.

obama - geitner has a full plate...worst recession since dep, autos, banks, coordin internally, dealiing with me and congress....so hard for poor timmy...on the "hot seat"

so obama sort of separated himself from geitner and admitted his own role was just to provide/supply the treasury guys with the "tools" they need - not make a fucking decision.

"Waterhead"

Posted by: Cuffy Meigs at March 19, 2009 11:41 PM (uOvAE)

56 I demand no less that was demanded of Imus after his "nappy headed 'hos" gaffe.

Obama needs to personally pay for a trip to the Special Olympics, apologize to all the athletes, coaches and staff, issue a formal apology from the WH press room and in print in the major papers (on his own dime) and then get fired.

If we require this of a radio host, how come the Prez'nit is allowed a pass? Isn't he supposed to be the defacto example of our nation? Funny that we hold radio personalities to a higher standard.

Case in point:
Rush= Democrats refer to him on air as an overweight drug addict, repeatedly and ofter

vs.

Obama= had some youthful indescretions in college but managed to pull himself up by his bootstraps and overcome these challenges. He's a shining example to all children raised in poverty (in his bank president grandma's house) by single mothers (who remarried, step-father adopted him and lived with both until they got sick of him and shipped him off to Hawaii with his grandparents).

Obama at his best....."money has already gone out"..... as in during your administration, a good two weeks AFTER you agreed to give another 30 billion to AIG?

LENO: Before the break I mentioned that they
had just passed this new bill which will tax them 90 percent -- and I
said it was frightening to me as an American that Congress, whoever,
could decide, I don't like that group, let's pass a law and tax them at
90 percent.

MR. OBAMA: Well, look, I understand Congress' frustrations, and
they're responding to, I think, everybody's anger. But I think that the
best way to handle this is to make sure that you've closed the door
before the horse gets out of the barn. And what happened here was the
money has already gone out and people are scrambling to try to find
ways to get back at them.

Quite the selective memory you've got there.
I was more referring to things like, "Chimpy McHilter", the accusations that Bush was a racist because people were too busy looting New Orleans to leave after repeated warnings and offers of free transportation and shelter, Bush's neckrub of the German PM being treated like an international incident, repeated calls for Bush to be tried/ imprisoned/ hung/ etc. for "war crimes", "nu-cu-lar" being used as repeated evidence of alleged incompetence, rally were people burned effigies, flags, pictures, etc. of Bush and threw shoes at inflated caricatures... the list goes on and on.
Yet Obama's complete failures in each and every attempt to date at dealing with international relations have been epic failures, second only to his handling of domestic issues. Perhaps you haven't seen the consistent drop and loss of trillions in the stock market since his inauguration? Or is the stock market just another irrelevant poll and a distraction?

I'm pretty sure Condoleeza Rice and Justice Thomas learned that PC only applies to conservatives a long time ago.

In other words: he's going to cure capitalism, permanently. Fix it (i.e. arrest the natural self-correcting movements of a free market), forever. Which is as much to say: kill it. Dead.

Via Matt Welch:

Your president, today, on compensation, culture, and capitalism.

"People are rightly outraged about these particular bonuses, but just as outrageous is the culture that these bonuses are a symptom of that have existed for far too long; a situation where excess greed, excess compensation, excess risk taking have all made us vulnerable and left us holding the bag.

And one of the messages that I want to send is that, as we get out of this crisis, as we work towards getting ourselves out of recession, I hope that Wall Street and the marketplace don't think that we can return to business as usual. The business models that created a lot of paper wealth but not real wealth in the country and have now resulted in crisis can't be the model for economic growth going forward.

And I've spoken before. We have to move beyond a constant bubble bust mentality and start establishing a foundation for long-term economic growth. That involves making investments on health care and energy and education. That means increasing our productivity across sectors and not just relying on the financial sector for all our economic growth. It means that shareholders and board of directors have to hold executives more accountable for their compensation scales […]

The financial regulatory package that we're designing as well as the economic policies that we want to put in place are going to put an end to that culture. [...]

[T]here are a whole bunch of folks now who are feigning outrage about these bonuses that a year ago or two years ago or three years ago said, well, we should never meddle in these compensation plans. These are the best and the brightest. They know what they're doing. That's part of the market.

And now, suddenly, they're outraged. The point that I've been trying to make consistently has been that we believe in the free market. We believe in capitalism. We believe in people getting rich. But we believe in people getting rich based on performance and what they have add in terms of value and the products that services that they create."
So many things wrong here. It's positively Orwellian.

We know the right-wing radio shows will be all over it. I am expecting Glenn Beck to go absolutely apeshit on radio and TV.

I am betting that CBS and ABC stay clear. NBC will probably give it a mention, thanks to Keef and since they will pump the publicity of their own network. I figure CNN will cover it, since they are always good about covering flaky, gossip type stuff, but will be in full blown spin cycle. Carville, Bengala, etc. are probably still up planning their rants for tomorrow. Silly me, expecting the POTUS to be held to the same or high moral standard than am aging shock jock. What was I thinking?

170 @XBradTC

Yeah, you'd think that there are a couple of things that somebody who is President should automatically get right, at least to a reasonable degree

1. Hire people. Yeah, I've been there and done that. I've probably hired and fired more people in a year of my career than Obama has in his life. Sure, it's a challenge, but it doesn't take 4 months. Especially when you have the benefit of WH payplans and perks and 8.9% unemployment.

2. Put on a good show for our allies. It ain't hard. I am sure that there are more flags for every nation than anyone knows what to do with in the WH basement. Have a staffer set 'em up, tell the on-site press what time and have your speechwriter load something flowery onto the teleprompter. Have another staffer or two do 10 minutes research on the person and pick up some nice, appropriate gifts. Tell the chef to cook up something good from that country's cuisine.

This is easy stuff that anyone should be able to do, especially with a massive staff on hand to do it all for you. Yet he has fumbled even the simple shit beyond all reckoning.

Most presidential candidates get a pass for their hometown team. But to pick a winner otherwise is sleazy. Especially because these are college kids. How disappointing would it be to go into the tournament -- the biggest moment in your life -- knowing that the President of the United States (or his teleprompter) is actively cheering for your loss? Especially if you think he's the Messiah (as I'm sure most of the players do).

In the big scheme of things, this by itself is no big deal. However, it does force them to play defense. Compound this and they're going to spend lots of time playing defense rather than leading the happy sheep to be slaughtered by the socialist big government wolf.

174 See, you guys have to remember back to the campaign. That campaign was brilliantly and tactically executed. So now, how come, it appears that they have suddenly dropped the ball. What, did one guy or girl quit and they lost their brilliance or is everything they do and say carefully choreographed, right down to what seems to be "off the cuff" remarks on a tv show? That is truly the question.

Why would you miss any of these things? They're more alive and well now than ever.

What would you call Timmy Geithner and AIG, if not crony capitalism?

"Torture?" Obama has yet to rescind any Bush directives on "extreme measures," and he's pointedly made sure to keep renditions on the table, just so we can hand bad guys over to our "friends," if they need real torture.

(By the way, I'd suggest you look up Chuckie Taylor, if you want to know what actual torture is, rather than the pansy-assed things the Bush administration was doing.)

Invading countries? Apparently, Obama's agreed to go deeper into Pakistan (a sovereign nation that has not attacked us, yet), than Bush ever did. Would that be the Bush doctrine of pre-emption?

Spying on "us" 24/7? I really doubt anyone bothered to spy on you, even given the derangement you've frequently demonstrated on the internet. You might not have noticed, but Obama has reversed none of Bush's policies on surveillance.

"total deregulation of everything to do with the financial services industry" Think the total take over and micromanagement is better? How has your retirement fund fared since Nov. 5?

Jack Abramoff? He was gone long before Bush was, much to the chagrin of many Democrats, as well as Republicans, in congress.

LOL

I'd run, but I can't find an original copy of my birth certificate.

Also, there'd be the fundraising problem. The last time I tried to commit massive credit card fraud, I almost got caught, and have had nightmares ever since. I don't know that I could dismantle all the safeguards like Barry's folks did, and still sleep at night. So, there would go the necessary $400 million from "individual contributors" of unknown name or nationality.

And my exhaustion from lack of sleep would inevitably lead me to make stupid gaffes, like forgetting how many states are in the union, or talking about short-bus bowling.

jmy, I just checked today's Wall Street Journal. It's article on Obama's "historic" appearance on Leno makes no mention of this, or any other gaffe. Nothing. Nada. It does say that the audience "cheered wildly".

Look, you know perfectly well that if Bush had said something this stupid, the press and the Left (BIRM) would have ripped him a new one. But Obama says it, and it's crickets chirping. Granted, this is nothing when compared with Obama's flinging around billions like confetti, as he works to turn the nation into Cook County writ large, or his truly astonishing incompetence when dealing with the economy and foreign affairs; but the galling unfairness of the press is maddening. No doubt, this will be soon forgotten, amidst the paens to Obama from the likes of Frum, Noonan, and Parker, not to mention the liberal claque. As will Obama's next imbecility, and the one after that. So it goes.

240 Despite these gaffes, President Obama still shows how little experience he has with budgets. I have to wonder if he even knows what deferred compensation is.

Again, the first budget in which Barack Obama controlled it is the budget for the entire United States Federal Government.

God save us.

241 Joe Scarborough made an interesting point this morning- that Obama
sticking with Geithner is like Bush sticking with Rumsfeld. But Bush
stuck with Rumsfeld about two years and 2000 American deaths too long,
not a few weeks. So far Obama hasn't started and fucked up any wars.

Even that's wrong. Rumsfeld was effective early in the Bush Administration. I'd give him just about 80% of the first term as a highly effective SecDef. Bush knew Rumsfeld could be good so the leash was quite long.

Geithner hasn't been effective at all. From day one he's been in over his head.

242 Watching the clip of the President making the Special Olympics joke is a must.

The President really thinks it is funny. He even tries to goad Jay Leno by reaching out to touch Leno.

There is Mr. President with a giant shit eating grin on his face, Leno shuffling papers trying to save the President, and an audience practically silent as the President's giant grin turns to them.

This was pretty ugly stuff.

243 Again, the first budget in which Barack Obama controlled it is the budget for the entire United States Federal Government.

Well, there's the Annenberg money, of which we have no accounting nor results to show for it.

So he's just continuing in that tradition. And when it becomes obvious that he's in over his head, he distracts with a show-biz adulation session (as we've also seen before).

Maria Shriver says President Barack Obama's joke comparing his poor
bowling score to that of a Special Olympics athlete was hurtful,
although she is sure he didn't mean it thatway.

California's first lady issued a statement Friday, a day after the
president made the gaffe on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Obama later
called Maria's brother, Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver,
toapologize.

The siblings' mother, Eunice Kennedy-Shriver, founded the Special
Olympics and has championed the rights of the mentallydisabled.

Maria Shriver says the reaction to Obama's joke shows there is still
more work to do. She says laughing at such comments "hurts millions of
people throughout theworld."

Shriver, a Democrat, supported Obama's presidentialcampaign.

299 This shoe is the most comfortable nike shoe I have ever purchased. I primarily wear my nike shoes for comfort and fashion. The first time I wore it and every time thereafter it felt like I was walking on cloud nike shoe. I sincerely hope this model will be around for a long time to come in the event I need to replace it

305 http://www.air-nike-max.comThe Nike Air Max was first released in 1987 in a nylon/synthetic suede combo with a transparent window for the Max Air-sole unit. Despite incredulity that led customers to poke and squeeze the Air-sole, the Air Max quickly proved to be a hit. A leather edition soon followed in 1988 and from 1988-1992, Nike used a variety of colors and fabric combinations to keep a contemporary look. In 1992, however, the Air Max was reissued with two major design changes. These reissued models were manufactured in leather and used the midsole and outsole design from the Air Max 90 (then known as the Air Max 3. Nike did reissue the nylon Air Max 1995, but continued to experiment with the design, eventually reducing the size of the Nike Swoosh. To date, the Air Max continues to evolve as Nike tries to keep this classic running shoe contemporary.
