Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Congratulations, Obama!: Media's Savaging of Joe the Plumber Causes Witness to Ayers-Obama Relationship to Get Cold FeetThe tip, and this is just a tip, but it's coming from someone reliable: The problem in this story is twofold. Without wanting to provide details, the story really needs a second source. Tom Maguire? Buddy? Please answer my emails. The second problem is that anonymity -- no names, no pictures-- is requested. He fears retaliation and harassment. And who knows -- perhaps more. Media may get away with going single-source on this, or anonymous sources, but not both single-source and anonymous. So here's the day's twist: Believe it or don't. The source was considering dropping his demand for anonymity. Thus likely moving the story forward. (He wasn't considering going forward with the Politico, by the way: but with the other, more important organization.) And now, today? After witnessing Politico, among others, savage Joe Wurtzelbacher? Cold feet. The Politico has this story. They've had it for a while. They don't want to run it with the guy's anonymity kept intact. Gee, I wonder why he wanted to keep that? They're willing to endlessly vet anyone who even asks Barack Obama a question, but not Barack Obama himself. I can pretty much understand the media's reluctance to allow anonymity -- except for the fact that the media so gleefully engages in the witness intimidation that prompts the request for anonymity in the first place. As of now, the story appears dead. Again, second source crucial. If anyone has the guts to go up against Obama's cultists and his state media. The Other Party on the Story: I should say the Politico's reasoning is not obviously biased, because the other party, whom I respect, has the same damn problems. I am picking on the Politico, however, because let's face it, they are a bit loose with the rules when it suits them, and because they took part in this "vetting," as they call it, of a citizen who dared to ask a question. They're part of the same smear campaign and creepy threats of retaliation -- a home address? Why does that need to be known to a charged, angry electorate? -- against a guy who asked a question. No, the Politico didn't do that part, but they dug an awful lot. And encouraged digging, because any leftie who hit upon something would get his tip published. I cannot even imagine what would happen to a guy who called Obama a straight-up liar on his supposed "flimsy" relationship with The Terrorist William Ayers. They know what this guy fears -- because they just participated in it. Any dink of a sub-bureaucrat who could whistle-blow against the Bush Administration would have his story told -- with anonymity. But it's different for The One. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

This is an important point. Is this source anonymous to Politico? Because if they are certain of the source, they can corroborate, vet, whatever, at will. There is no ethical rule of journalism that demand they NAME the source.
If, however, Politico has no idea who this person is, well then, Politico is doing the right thing. Posted by: SarahW at October 16, 2008 08:40 PM (7sl9X) 48

I could not put my head to pillow, or shave my face in the mirror ever again knowing I could have stopped Obama and didn't. That just a fact. I am not some super brave guy or some tough guy, but we are talking about the future of our country at one of the most vulnerable times in its history. Approaching guys like Breitbart and Novak etc. behind the scenes can help give it enough strength to pull it through. Make the story the star, not the man telling it. Dear Anonymous,
We are all called on to do something important in life. Right now, we've got a problem. There's someone who is on course to be President, riding high in the polls, and he really should not be President. The key reason is dishonesty. Barack is not an honest man. You know that. The closest observers of the man all know that. He lied, absolutely baldfaced, and absolutely coolly, and calmly, about his political career starting in Ayers's living room, in the debate last night. He lied on national television. He lied without blinking an eye, or any visible effect. He is perfect liar. Regardless of what the policies are or aren't, a President who lies so casually, about anything, and so effectively, must not become President. You have a duty to go forward. You can best protect yourself by being absolutely honest. You can keep a log of any kind of backlash you get, and regularly share that with the media. Just be perfectly honest. Tell your story. It matters. It really does. It is important that the truth comes out about Barack Obama. It matters greatly to the future of this country, and of the world. Thank you, from a fellow American. And if its just the babysitting thing, why are you sitting on it?
That's not foul enough a rumor, to hold back, it's just another brick in the wall of story anyway. It doesn't tie in the book, or Columbia Days, or anything. It's just they are closer that O allowed, in latter days. Posted by: SarahW at October 16, 2008 10:30 PM (7sl9X) 118

Posted by: SarahW at October 16, 2008 10:32 PM (7sl9X) 119
So Politico is hoping to get a source to go on the record so Politico canscore a huge story but their source is nervous about the consequences. So another average "Joe" askes a question and the very organization working so hard to get the story of the year blasts the average "Joe" for having the nerve to ask a question...and you think Politico is taking this"breaking" story seriously, how? In my opinion they're doing their best to scare their source off. Wouldn't want to damage "The One" you know...

There was a story in the Chicago Tribune - Ithink in April by Trevor Jenson that quoted a neighbor of Obama's in Hyde Park saying they Ayer's were part of their social circle.
Posted by: ethel at October 16, 2008 10:48 PM (N9o8O) 125
Sorry, friends dropping me or stabbing me in the back is nothing compared to the freedoms that would be destroyed for my children, my family and innocent people everywhere. And freedoms will be the smallest losses. Imagine the future if you can... What would the Middle East look like under Obama? Where would Israel be? Iraq? This isn't just an America changing election. This is a World changing event. If I was the one person who could help to avoid the disaster that will come if Obama iselected I couldn't justify NOT coming forward. Besides, if the Obama campaign has any wiff about this story andthey probablydo if Politico has it, I would think this person would be safer going public. I would think if Obama's campaign has suspicions about who this person could be they would go to great links to keephim/her quiet. Harder to do once they've gone on the record.

#85 is right. Greta Van Susteren is trying to make a connection and has asked for help. She has people hide their identity before on her show before.
1. The Secretary of State of Ohio Jennifer Brunner filed a request in the Supreme Court relating to the underlying claim in her state that there has been voter registration fraud…with ties to the work of ACORN in registering voters. 2. A group — the Service Employees International Union [SEIU] — filed an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court asking the Supreme Court to rule with the Secretary of State of Ohio (and essentially asking for a ruling that would be favorable to ACORN in that it would “call off the dogs.”) 3. I thought it curious that SEIU would file an amicus brief for Brunner and did some quick research …and now I need more indepth research (which is where YOU come in.) According to my quick research..the same person who started ACORN, started SIEU. His name is Wade Rathke. So then I wondered, who is Wade Rathke? 4. I did some really quick research and learned that Rathke was a member of the anti war group SDS. This is where YOU come in again. If you know 60’s history, you know that the Weather Underground was an offshoot of SDS. There was some disagreement in the late 60’s and members of the SDS - Bill Ayers and his wife - left and formed/ joined the Weather Underground. So now I am wondering: do Rathke and Ayers know each other (from SDS / Weather Underground days)? what is the connection now, if any, between them? between ACORN and SEIU? between them and Senator Obama? There may be absolutely NO connection…but we should at least take a look at it. If there is none, we should make that known. Senator Obama should not have to fight the viral nature of rumors. If there is a connection or relation, it might be of some further interest that is worth more investigation. And it may turn out, if there is a connection, that the connection is of no moment…but we should at least see what the facts are and then reach our individual conclusions. So there is your assigment….get looking!!http://tinyurl.com/48ueq3 Posted by: SH at October 16, 2008 10:57 PM (arAyy) 129

This source needs to very clearly understand the following:
In a McCain presidency, the source may be disparaged in the next few months and abused, but he benefits from the rule of law and its protections. In an Obama presidency, he is dead. Those who know what sins the Leader has committed will be erased. Think I'm exaggerating? Spend several years in Germany studying the ascent of the Third Reich. Evaluate Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Pol Pot and numerous other disciples of the totalitarian theory, evaluate their behavior when they had not yet ascended into power and evaluate the deltas between that and Obama's ACORN squads. This isn't a false alarm. You have a national crisis (sub-prime meltdown, $10+ trillion in debt, and debtors that are prepared to yank the credit), a unified Congress and Obama presidential ascent, weak states, a split Court and a large business base that is now owned by the left due to its addiction to credit and the credit-controlling government (via ownership of the banks). Even a "light" dose of this means your Leader Obama will have the capacity to silence his enemies. But once you understand how Leader Obama has erased 15 years of his history, you'll realize he wishes to keep that silent. The "source" here must decide now: speak, take your lumps in a mostly open society and keep your family alive, or keep silent and empower He who shall remove all traces. For something like that to work, you have to make you case behind the scenes, full up, and bring it out at once for maximum impact. None of this trickle trickle half-mention bullshit. One other thing, counter, and I've been meaning to ask ace if I can do a guest post on this .....
As individuals, it's easy to feel helpless against the endless media propaganda that we experience every day. But we do have influence. Every day, with every word and action, we influence those around us. God gives us the means, individually, to shape our world. It's up to us to tap into our strengths in order to do it. This blog had 100,000 unique hits in a week. Think about that. Simply typing a well reasoned thought or funny line into a comment box may very well influence someone's thinking. That's a powerful thing. And something to be celebrated. Posted by: Warden at October 17, 2008 01:02 AM (KXbGD) 167

I think its a great story for softening up folks for evidence of a much earlier close relationship,, because it solidifies existing understanding that O over-downplayed his warm relations with the Ayers.
But isn't it semi-sort of common knowlege that O did this? There is that news report with Elizabeth Chandler making plain the social set of the neighborhood included the Obamas AND the Ayers. There have been statements that the press has known of closer friendship than was earlier acknowleged. But in the present day. Isn't he key thing with Ayers/Dohrn is to show how influential their radical agenda has been on O, or how much he carries water for it? OK, honestly, I totally disagree with everything you say, stand for, believe in, wish for, think tastes good, etc. etc. etc. But I do have to point out that there is absolutely no journalistic rule still being followed that disallows anonymous sources. Read any major paper that still does original reporting (I have my favorites, I'm sure you have yours they're not the same), and you will see page after page of "Sources inside the Administration say...", "An source who would speak only on condition of anonymity said...", "A former congressional staffer said...", and on and on. It seems to be the rule now, rather than the exception.
I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't believe for an instant that as low-rent a publication (is it still a publication if it's only on the Web?) as Politico wouldn't grant anonymity to a source if it thought it would get a few extra page hits. More likely is that the source's information is so feeble that Drudge won't even print it. Posted by: SJohn at October 17, 2008 02:08 AM (N+dqs) 184
Ace, you are a goddamn bastard and I hate both your guts and your innards.
Anyways. Who here is into Spinoza? Posted by: counter at October 17, 2008 02:12 AM (8/0ME) 185
I'm kinda curious though. What's so boring about Gravity's Rainbow, jokes abound.
I was forced to read many books more boring. It's why I mentioned Joyce. I don't have the slightest idea with Ulysses nor was I actually able to make it through. Posted by: counter at October 17, 2008 02:15 AM (8/0ME) 186
What's more important? The future of your country or your life?

This blog had 100,000 unique hits in a week. Think about that. Simply typing a well reasoned thought or funny line into a comment box may very well influence someone's thinking. That's a powerful thing. And something to be celebrated.
Cocksucker. Not you, for the word count, I mean. Posted by: blaster at October 17, 2008 05:48 AM (BiphJ) 188
I feel dumber for having read this thread. Ayers' wife babysat Odumbo's kids, whoop-dee-do. The MSM will not run anything negative on Obama, and the public seems to not care one whit about any of the Chicago crowd. So quit acting like you've got the Watergate secrets here, it's annoying.
Now, you have something on ACORN, that's different. Obama's plan to throw Israel to the wolves? Again, that's different. A video of Obama having sex with a dead woman or a live boy? That might be rather important. But the babysitter thing, that dog don't hunt. BTW, Mac was terrific at the Smith dinner, the speechwriter did a boffo job but Mac's delivery was the key. Fantastic. We probably should start our own Weather Underground and perhaps call it Moron Underground and blow up MSM outlets. If we copy Bill Ayers style to a tee, should not have to worry about any blowback and then when the statute of limitations expire, we all get jobs at universities and cozy up to some young dude that will be the next President and all will be better right?

Cmon now, I am all for all the dirt one can dig up on Obama, but this rumors of rumors of rumors is silly.
And if there are no videos or photos, no one is going to believe any one. It is somebody's word against another. They would have to have a photo(s) or video of either: 1) Ayers writing the final draft of Obama's books, or 2) Ayers and Obama reading quotes from Karl Marx books and discussing how the US would be better off as a socialist country; or 3) Ayers, Rev. Wright and Obama singing "Godxxxn the US of AmeriKKKa" in 3-part harmony or 4) Ayers and Michelle Obama mud wrestling on the US flag before it would have any impact on this election. Ace,
Sue,If you can show me where this has been "reported,' as opposed to someone saying it in a blog comment, I'd be grateful. I do not believe a major reporter at a major news network is chasing an old story. Guess I can't do that. I thought it was in a Chicago newspaper, but when I search now all I get is the blog comment. Posted by: Sue at October 17, 2008 10:18 AM (Jol77) 192
Should note that the geoff commenting above is not the geoff that I am and have been for 4+ years.

Sue, could you perhaps be thinking of Michelle's babysitting of Jesse Jackson's kids? Because that was in the news.

Ace,
A thought occurred to me while reading the comments (it happens sometimes). Do you think that the hesitation about running a single source and/or anonymous story is not so much partisanship as it is intimidation? The same reason the tipster is hesitant to reveal his identity? Is it a stretch to wonder just how far Obama's long arm of thuggery reaches? Yes, there are those who are obviously in the tank for O, but 100% of the MSM? Even Fox has been soft, and they made their name being anti-liberal. Who out there has bigger balls than Murdoch? Soros, maybe? I wonder if the double standard we see regarding the attacks on Bush/Cheney over the past 8 years and the absolute refusal to touch anything remotely negative about Obama has to do not so much with partisanship as it does confidence that Bush wouldn't have them destroyed for not repeating the narrative? I think I might be the one who has the other part of the story, but I don't want to give up anonymity unless I know that it's the same story that you have a piece of. I can't afford to "come out" on a story that you don't already have corroborated. Maybe my story is different than yours. I don't know, because you haven't told us what your story is.
What is it? Posted by: El Bruce at October 24, 2008 01:57 AM (we0Bv) 197
I'm a conservative who just found this site thinking I could find some like-minded people, but my God, you people aren't conservatives. You are raving lunatics.

You're all a bunch of fucking gullible nutjobs.
I've got a super secret report of my own, about how Ace of Spades is a twisted pedophile, lying douche bag, and how people who read this shit are brain dead morons. But my "anonymous" source doesn't want to go public, and meanwhile Politico and the NYT are sitting on the story! Can you believe that shit?! Do the country a favor and go and kill yourselves. Real conservative want their party back from the hands of you crazed hate mongers. You want to know why Obama is going to win? Look in the mirror. Your headline might've read: "Ayers-Obama Witness Full of Crap." Would've save me a lot of reading.
