Illegal Alien Affirmatively Protected from Prosecution by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom Goes on to Open a Popular Flower Shop and Contribute to His Community as a Taxpayer and Good Citizen

And by "open a flower shop," I mean he murdered a father and his two sons.

I'm way behind on this one, but in case some of you have missed it, this is perhaps the worst illegal-immigrant-goes-on-death-spree story ever. It's not just that this man could have been deported years ago (and should have been). It's not just that San Francisco is a sanctuary city which passively, by sins of omission, chooses to allow violent foreign illegal lawbreakers live in the city to threaten and kill citizens.

No, this goes a bit further than that. San Francisco affirmatively aided this guy, affirmatively helped him avoid deportation. Deliberately. Not through negligence or ambivalence or passivity. They actively chose to help this murdering bastard keep one step ahead of the feds so he could go on to murder citizens.

The man charged with killing a father and two sons on a San Francisco street last month was one of the youths who benefited from the city’s long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation, The Chronicle has learned.

Edwin Ramos, now 21, is being held on three counts of murder in the June 22 deaths of Tony Bologna, 48, and his sons Michael, 20, and Matthew, 16. They were shot near their home in the Excelsior district when Tony Bologna, driving home from a family picnic, briefly blocked the gunman’s car from completing a left turn down a narrow street, police say.

Ramos, a native of El Salvador whom prosecutors say is a member of a violent street gang, was found guilty of two felonies as a juvenile - a gang-related assault on a Muni passenger and the attempted robbery of a pregnant woman - according to authorities familiar with his background.

San Francisco had -- has, rather -- a policy of providing free trips, no questions asked, for juvenile illegals back to their home country -- with the intent of helping them avoiding being picked up by the feds and formally deported (or jailed). They'd help juvenile illegals get out of town just long enough to evade ICE, so that they could sneak back in later without legal consequence.

Michelle Malkin comments:

This is what the feel-good Sanctimony City policies bring upon their law-abiding citizens–and on the rest of the country. San Francisco had two opportunities to deport a violent felon with (if you’ll read a little further in the article) ties to the MS-13 gang, and they didn’t do it. They can’t even plead incompetence–the sanctuary policy worked exactly as it was intended.

The City of San Francisco wanted to keep criminal illegal alien juveniles like Edwin Ramos in San Francisco–or, at least, somewhere inside the United States. They were willing to frustrate a federal law to do so. And a devastating, preventable triple murder occurred because of their policy.

Here's a video of a woman doing a job Americans don't want to do -- namely, burying her murdered husband and sons.

Open borders advocates note that the illegal immigrant triple-murderer contributed to the economy by providing business opportunities to morgue beauticians and embalmers, and also spared the American taxpayer the high costs of paying for the men's healthcare as they aged.

1 Newsome should be charged with the same crime.

I can't help but think of the victims and if it were me - I live in NY state so defending myself is illegal and I can't get a CCW permit, much like people in San Fran.

Tragic situation, shows all that is wrong with the lies of liberalism.

The true irony is that while San Franciscans protest collateral damage in Iraq and blame Bush for all that is wrong, their own flaming liberal mayor allows people to die right beneath them.

2 "the city’s long-standing practice of shielding illegal immigrant juveniles who committed felonies from possible deportation"

Who committed felonies?!? Felonies? How on Earth, even in San Francisco, can anyone think this is a good idea?

I can comprehend, or even agree with, some "sanctuary" policies. New York's policy under Giuliani seemed sensible to me, all things considered. But like it or not, one of the reasons for that policy was to concentrate on getting the illegal immigrant felons off the street (as opposed to the more law-abiding, and/or people who might have information about the dangerous felons)!

3 And here's the usual open borders crowd response (say it with me):

"If we only had comprehensive immigration reform this never would have happened."

(yeah, I know, it doesn't make much sense but that's all they got to hang onto in the face of axe-murdering reality)

4 I was in SF and read it in the paper the day after it happened when one son was still in intensive care. It was a shocking story without the illegal immigrant protection part.

I feel soooo sorry for the poor mother/wife.

5 I hope this poor widow sues the everloving shit out of the city of San Francisco, and this ponce mayor and the entire city council are named as well.

6 This woman should own City Hall. The DOJ should send in Federal Marshall's to thwart the city's attempt to obstruct justice.

C'mon, it's a San Fransiscan, she'll probably sue gun manufacturers.

8 How does the city benefit from going out of their way (way, way, wayout of their way)to protect these FELONS from the feds?
It seems to me that they hate America so much that they do this crapto thumb their noses at us

Posted by: Lemmiwinks at July 23, 2008 04:58 PM (Nwbo8)

9 How does the city benefit?

Well, the leftists enjoy having a criminal class around to ensure individuals have to seek out the government for protection. For the average liberal, though, they benefit from never having their ideals challenged. For them crime is just a nuisance, something lesser in the scale of bad things than discrimination, sexism, racism, etc.

10 Frog-march Newsom & the city council. Send the Marines to do it if necessary, as the city is clearly in a state of rebellion against the Federal government.

Posted by: Cybrludite at July 23, 2008 05:24 PM (NoIy8)

11 I don't see what the big deal is, there are plenty of citizen ms-13 gang members running around killing people at random. Do you run around demanding all ms-13 gang members be deported just because one illegal alien gang member killed a few people? No but it's ok for all illegal alien ms-13 gang members to be deported just because one killed some dick who blockedhisEl Camino? Fucking right-wing reactionary asshole. If I see your ewok looking ass on the streets Spades I'm going to spit in your face.

13 I hope she not only sues the city but also the mayor and each city council person who endorsed the amnesty program.

14 You know what this post needs? Gabriel Malor telling us that what is needed is the calm, soothing hand of the 9th circuit court to adjudicate this.
Of course Gabe will say he "favors" a legislative solution, but "it isn't like the courts can't and shouldn't get involved."
And I'm sure we can't figure out the odds of that turning out badly...

15 First the adultery and the false witness, and now that he's helped to kill, Gavin Newsom has a chance to even top Bill Clinton - he can break all 10 Commandments while in office. Go Gavin!

16 While I heartily endorse any action taken to place the guilty SanFran libtard bastarts in prison or, better yet,a gas chamber, I'd actually just be happy if the damn brain-dead morons in that city would wake up and vote those miserable scum out of office. Fat chance, though. If only the criminal scum would restrict their homicidal acts to the leftists who coddle them- at least then we would see partial justice.

Posted by: Reactionary at July 23, 2008 10:50 PM (+FLGb)

17 C'mon, ya kneejerk racist. He was probably an aspiring brain surgeon. He just... y'know... capped a family before he got to med school. He might have actually BEEN on the way to enroll in med school, for all you know, you nativist. If that dude just hadn't cut him off in traffic... Cure for cancer, baby.
Seriously, though. Dr. Quinones' story is nice. What MSNBC fails to note, however, is the obvious reality that for every rare Dr. Quinones - which includes any illegals who've gone to Iraq or Afghanistan to fight as American soldiers to earn their citizenship- there's a bunch of other regular, everyday poor people who grew to adulthood in a near-socialist society, and more than enough Edwin Ramoses thrown into the mix to make it a losing proposition.

18 Now that I think about it, probably most of the non-citizens enlisted in our armed forces are here legally. So, scratch that one part. I never said it.

19 Aren't we all pretty sure he had a legal right to that gun he used? Otherwise wouldn't SanFran gone all medieval on his ass?

20 Years ago my wife and I visited San Francisco. What a beautiful City. I purchased a T-shirt while there, as tourists are wont to do.
Long gone now, but I believe best describes the city.
A white shirt with large red lettering which screamed.
"San Francisco. Where men are men. Women are men. And even the weather is queer.

21 Don't forget that at one point the San Francisco Sheriff's Department informed ICE that he was in custody, but ICE said he wasn't deportable and refused to take him into custody.

Posted by: Johnnie at July 24, 2008 08:41 AM (4dvk3)

22 One should also look again at ICE. ICE actually aids and abets illegal alien sanctuary policies. In San Francisco there is a defacto ICE policy of not taking pro-active enforcement policies in San Francisco. No raids on employers of illegal aliens, no enforcement action against illegal alien hiring centers operated by City of San Francisco contractors, no pro-active enforcement against the illegal alien gangs that dominate crime in Mission, Excelsior and other areas of San Francisco, and no action against the many restaurants, especially in Chinatown, that employ illegals. San Francisco's sanctuary policy would have no effect if ICE fulfilled it's responsibilities. However ICE has established an unofficial amnesty for illegal aliens. Illegal aliens can even go to the offices of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and fraudulently apply for benefits, but ICE refuses to arrest those illegals. The most important sanctuary in San Francisco is at 630 Sansome Street, where ICE and USCIS offices are.

Posted by: Johnnie at July 24, 2008 08:51 AM (4dvk3)

23 If those were my loved ones, I'd be doing a little spree of my own. I don't think the legal process would be involved though... not until later.
