The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

“President Trump’s effort to ban them doesn’t just fly in the face of our collective values—it’s a national security threat,”Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.

Quote II

“We will only defeat the scourge of violence if we understand and address its complex root causes,”British Prime Minister Theresa May

How do you say, "I'll give you three guesses" in Arabic?

Quote III

“US Attorneys thoroughly enjoyed our time with AG Barr this week. He is a solid, proven leader with a clear vision for the @DOJ. We will move forward with his priorities, hold offenders accountable, and advance the rule of law,” Special Prosecutor John Huber

Quote IV

Had I been fooling myself about my anti-gun stance? I don’t think so, but I did come to realize through a series of unexpected exchanges that the issue was more complicated than I had allowed and that my views of just coexistence and human flourishing might not require the absolute prohibition of arms. Harvard history professor Tiya Miles

Quote V

As usual, The ONT is always looking out for you.

Hey, it's free breakfast.

I am so sick and tired of the double fucking standard. “Do you consider yourself an orthodox Catholic?”

This is perfectly fine with the progressives even though the Constitution states that there is not to be a religious litmus test given to federal nominees.

But heaven forbid if someone in the private sector asks a similar question.

“Think about it: Omar wears a hijab,” Ms. Pirro said. “Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Shariah law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?”

Call me insensitive, but I do not opine the Koran and Sharia Law are compatible with the US Constitution. And I believe there are over 3,000 peoplevictims from Islamic terrorist attacks on 9/11/01 who would agree with me. If they could.

Screw you FNC and good for you Judge Jeanine for asking a tough but fair question.

The ONT wonders why this app is necessary.

It’s happened to all of us: You’re just trying to enjoy your meal in peace when a bunch of liberal hippies shows up waving signs saying “We don’t respect President Donald Trump” and chanting, “Green New Deal / Ban your meal!” And we’ve all long been hoping that someone would design an app that would allow us to eat in peace, or tell us where it’s okay to wear our MAGA hats, or whatever.

Enter 63red Safe, an app which the Daily Beast reports is like Yelp, except for determining whether a business will protect customers from roving squads of antifa supersoldiers or let them dine while packing heat.

Just ask:

  • Sarah Huckabee Sanders

  • Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)

  • Candace Owens and Charlie Kirk, to name but a few.

Alyssa Milano says she’s a trans, disabled, lesbian, black, immigrant gay man. Hard to walk that back, sister.

Outspoken left-wing Hollywood actress and “super-sciency” expert Alyssa Milano celebrated International Women’s Day on Friday by giving a shout-out to men.

    *facepalm*

And oh, she also insinuated that she too is a man.

    *raised eyebrow*

“My transgender sisters! I am celebrating YOU this #NationalWomensDay!” she tweeted Friday afternoon.

Margaret Thostaer foresaw the Venezuela crisis. They’ve got the usual Socialist disease – they’ve run out of other people's money.

Much of Venezuela is still in the dark — now four days running — after the worst blackout on modern record in Latin America enveloped the country last Thursday evening. And as of Saturday, Reuters reported at least 17 deaths at hospitals across the country attributable to the power outage, given many hospitals are now for days completely reliant on back-up generators to keep life saving ventilators and other medical devices going. Other reports have claimed multiple dozens of deaths across the country, especially in hospital neonatal units.

Embattled socialist president Nicolas Maduro has continued to blame the crisis on an act of "sabotage" by the United States at the Guri hydroelectric dam, for which he's mobilized troops to protect the national electricity system for the duration of the power outage. However, most analysts agree the electrical grid mass failure is the result of generally failing infrastructure after years of underinvestment and neglect.

Good news. Attack cat is safe for now.

Way too often, people forget that acting carelessly around wild animals can result in a tragedy. A couple of years ago a gorilla named Harambe was killed after a 4-year-old boy managed to get into his enclosure. The killing of the gorilla resulted in a widespread backlash, with many people blaming both zookeepers and parents for allowing the child to get into gorilla’s cage. Sadly, some people learned nothing from this situation and continues to get themselves into dangerous situations by not obeying the rules at the zoo.

A local fire captain is charged with arson and retaliation after he had a church friend burn his car, then threatened someone to whom he had confessed to stop them from telling others, a warrant states.

Michael Anthony Salinas, 34, a captain with the Emergency Services District 5 Fire and Rescue Fire Department, confessed to a confidential law enforcement source that he had a friend from church burn his 2017 Ford Focus because the $400 to $500 monthly payments were too high and he wanted to move out of his parents' home, court documents state.

Those that can't see, now see. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Millions of blind people could have their vision actually restored using stem cells taken from the eyes of non-living donors, according to new research from Scotland.

Thanks to the pioneering tissue transplant, eight patients with a common condition that destroys vision have had the affected area repaired—and two were able to read again after having severe macular degeneration.

No dialysis. No incubators. No chemotherapy. No insulin. No subway. No democracy. It shows that socialism in the end takes everything there is from the citizens. So what is the point? Government employees, and the legions of people employed in the private sector to deal with compliance don't create any wealth at all - rather they destroy wealth.

So if take-home to value created ratio is not optimum, there is a sure fire way to fix that - REDUCE TAXES !

143 Kinda sorta related to the Huber thing, it's been 11 months since McCabe's referral and 8 months since a grand jury took up the matter, someone noted today. Now - absolutely no baseline, so can't say that's 1) outrageous and a sure sign of doom 2) completely normal zzzzzz 3) something else.

But I find it hard to believe the massive, massive, unprecedented crimes under the Espionage Act perpetrated by much of the 7th floor under Clinton, and the associated obstructions of justice and other crimes committed by both Clinton's gang and the FBI/DOJ, will now ever be prosecuted. The IG report was, bottom line, laughable - massive, unprecedented Espionage Act violations occurred, at the highest levels, with known exploitation by foreign adversaries - and no criminal liability, anywhere. Ridiculous.

Won't even mention the Federal Records Act violations - oh, just did.

In other words, a conviction of McCabe for lying about talking to the press - if it even happens - will in itself be close to nothing. Even a sort of epic "f u" to the country.

    Carry on.

I mean, what if Huber filed charges today against McCabe for lying to the FBI, then Mueller drops a big old collusion bombshell report on Trump next week based in part on McCabe-instigated FISA warrants. DOJ would be working at cross purposes charging literally bothsides of the investigation with various crimes. Would look weird.

I know you will have a hard time understanding this - because you're a fucking moron - but people who were born, biologically, as one gender but who insist that they are another gender are suffering from a mental illness.

Look it up; it's called gender dyspohria - meaning a "profound sense of unease about one's gender".

Yes, it's a mental illness to look down at, say, male reproductive plumbing and say to yourself, hmmm, maybe I should have that chopped-off and fill my body full of female hormones.

We don't need people with known mental illnesses handling, ahem, large fucking weapons.

Now please, take that room-temperature IQ of yours and shut your overused piehole while adults are doing adult things.

The twist? Dude's a straight up Black nationalist. His idea is to negotiate a territorial cession from the US government for an American black nation.

I told him there were a lot of reasons that's not a likely outcome, but the biggest was that Democrats were no more likely to let them leave peacefully than they were the last time. That they'd never permit it because it would break their electoral power.

    He hadn't considered that angle.

253 I've been preaching about EMPs for longer than some of you have been alive. There's something about getting kicked out of bed in the morning to run up to local store to buy lots of batteries because the electric grid has failed all up and down the East coast. And by the way, the Israelis and Arabs just started another war.

I am very pro computer. I've been waiting for them to catch up to Asimov and Star Trek for decades. It was really great last week when I was so sick and the hospital and the medical personnel had instant access to all of my medical records.

But it does worry me when I wonder what happens if the electric grid goes south. William Forstchen wrote a book about it a few years back. My understanding, which of course may be completely wrong, is that there just isn't enough redundancy in our electric grid, not enough reserve power. And since I just started dialysis, I'm one of the people who will die not that long after the total collapse of the grid.

Neither the Mullahs or Li'l Kim would have to waste much effort to explode a low level nuclear device on top of us.

    (2)Those who serve revolution plough the sea;

304 Interesting about Mussolini, he was actually (technically) removed from power peacefully. Have to review the details, but a council acting as sort of a politburo yanked him. Suppose it might have been hard for him to stay and face the consequences out of power, so it wasn't a "normal" transition, for sure. In the event he fled north, Adolf helped him set up a rump state that didn't work out so well, and you know the meat-hook story.

Speaking of war-time Eye-talians, while of course it's fashionable to dismiss their martial prowess, their navy gave the Brits fits for some time, inflicted a lot of damage. They were greatly constrained by lack of fuel, and a weak industrial base - which wouldn't be able to provide replacements for ships and aircraft - so they operated very very conservatively. They had some command blunders, more than the Germans, about the same as the Allies, all in all. But no laughing stock while they were in the game.

In several engagements they inflicted a lot of pain. At one point, when the synergy with German air power developed, the UK sent most of the Med fleet to hide in the Canal and Red Sea and Haifa, and was down to costly and mostly futile convoy runs to Malta.

Fortunately for all concerned their flaws did prevent decisive naval successes, and on land they were often defeated quickly, saving lives on both sides.

they might be an existential threat if they get nukes, but Omar in particular is helpful for exposing how "they" think. She is a "representative" after all, so it is not bigotry to say she represents them that voted for her (plus much of the Muslim world is quite clear on those same thoughts). We should maybe thank her for clarifying how she might like to make the new laws for the non-human parts of America.

Hard to say if she was thinking of Obama as Muslim, or maybe just as compliant to Islam. But indeed to "radical" Islam, non Muslims are dogs or worse ... to be used, raped, beaten, beheaded. (as if normal people would do that to even a dog)

They are not an existential cultural threat here either really, just emblematic of the left's suicidal hate for the West.

Almost 60 years ago when I was still in high school--and looking around for a "church home", I went to a Jehovah's Witness meeting. It was unsettling for a couple of reasons. The attendees included one scorching hot blue eyed blonde from my high school with a figure that would not quit in pre silicon days. I mean those pull toys were real! But from the messages passed out at the meeting it was clear that a good Jehovah's Witness young girl would only consort with a solid Jehovah's Witness boy. She was hot--and I was tempted--but couldn't get myself to go there.

The Italians were better in small unit action than Fleet actions. See their mini-sub attack on Alexandria. Nothing wrong with their courage.

But they were hampered by being behind a technological and manufacturing curve. And not being serious before declaring war. I blame Mussolini and his ilk.

Plus they spent way too much money on Ethiopia and the other colonies.

Read [Under the Red Sea Sun by Edward Ellsberg for a extremely interesting tale that touches on that. Well, I liked it a lot. It's got salvage, making do with little, infighting, and capitalism explained to native chief, among other topics.

I work as a bartender, which tends to still have a good level of human interaction.

I also teach bartending, and students have to listen and interact and ask questions.

I go to church, and most of the parishioners there are not technically inclined, so it tends to be very social.

My daughter shows horses, and horse people don't tend to bury their faces in phones either, so it's pretty normal.

But, I did notice when I visited my nephew in NYC, it seemed like everyone was face deep in their cell phone and I see it other places around here like I mentioned.

On the other hand, a documentary, in of itself is not unbiased. The effect kind of reminds me of the 'Making of a Murderer' thing several years ago. 377 Mike H. - correct, about the commies getting Benito. There was a rather zany multi-party brawl going on in Italy at the time, as Allies drove out Germans, various Italian factions fought in the vacuum, and then Germans surrendered and it spread. Enormous amount of US intervention of all kinds was needed, and for years, to stabilize the place (for Italian civic definitions of "stabilized"). Universally forgotten or ignored, now.

Giving kids 'Jesus juice' to 'relax' them is the biggest of red flags, at least to me. As an uncle, I only gave alcohol to one minor, a 12 or so year-old niece, not only to shut her up but to teach her a lesson.

I was visiting home and took my nieces to a friend's parents house as they had a pool. After the swim, the adults were having Jack Garwood's martinis. My oldest niece kept telling me to 'drink it up, I want to see you drunk'. I took the martini, placed it in front of her and told her to have a healthy slug, after all it looks just like water. She did and almost puked. I told her, 'Never tell a person HOW to drink.'

Responsible adults simply do not give kids alcohol for anything other than medicinal or, in my case, one-time instructional purposes.

Yeah, I'm just kidding around. I haven't seen this thing, even. I do know two things:

1.) MJ was clinically insane, and creepy as hell. My gut says he's probably guilty.

2.) During the original accusations, there were holes in the story and some of the accusers were shady as hell, and serial litigants. I probably wouldn't have sided with them on the basis of the facts as presented.

Unless this film brings new evidence to light, I'd have to stick with that assessment.

449 that even his own people are starting to tell him they have no idea how to bring the grid back up.

450 Suppose you are a totalitarian dictator. Suppose you have command of a country with vast mineral wealth of one sort or another. Suppose all of the infrastructure is already in place when you take power.

Now, wouldn't you think your primary goals would be:
    1) Keep the mineral wealth flowing. (Which Maduro has not.)

    2) Keep infrastructure going (keep the trains running on time- which Maduro also has not done.)

    3) Absolutely paramount- keep food on the table. The collapse of the first two kind of makes this one hard to pull off, but there you are.

What seems odd to me thinking about this is that this seems like a series of easily corrected circumstances if you have supreme control. The problem with socialism is that in theory and practice it is anti-theoretical to people doing a good job. On the one hand there is no reason to do a good job. On the other, the people you put over these important jobs were chosen for their party loyalty and not their ability.

Kind of the difference between capitalism and socialism right there, no? One will succeed usually because it works with human nature, the other will always fail because of it.

    Sad.

HOWEVER, if Colombia were to invade, as daywalkers mentioned today, and they seized the country, the could call themselves "Newer Granada" I suppose
    -----------------

As neat as it might be to see Colombia pull off something like this, it's pretty much a non-starter. Colombia's military has a fair amount of experience (from fighting narco-guerillas - who were at one point proven to be getting funds from Chavez). But it's probably not big enough to make invasion a realistic option.

A local "activist" explained the cold weather in the Midwest by noting that the "polar vortex" was happening because it was very warm in the Arctic, and that it was above freezing at the North Pole. (Hint: it wasn't.) This was therefore just another proof of global climate change.

Global climate change is a unique scientific theory, because it is irrefutable. All data proves that global climate change is happening, no matter what the data is.

Peter Pan Syndrome in and of itself is not a bad thing. But MJ seemed to have certain . . . predilections like giving kids booze, as I mentioned above. And all the NDA pay-offs. Thanks to not only his own career but with also having rights to the Beatles catalogue, he was wealthy beyond my comprehension. Child sacrifice is pretty common and has been through human civilization.

Muzzies would and will marry off an 8 year old tomorrow somewhere in the world, perhaps Minnesota.

In NY and Virginia, a high society doctor will decapitate an infant.

In China, a mother and father will chunk a female infant into the river in favor of having a male child later.

In the rural south, some meth addicted teen will toss her newborn, opioid-addicted baby in a trash can to die.

In Sweden, Muzzies will forcibly sidomuze a 12 year old boy in the pool and authorities will tell the boy to respect the Muzzies' culture or he will be punished.

Mussolini, had he played his cards right, could have done like Franco, stayed neutral, and lasted on into the 1960's at least. But he hitched his little red wagon to Hitler's team, and that was the end of him.

Well, except for that whole Abyssinia adventure.

But it's funny how the Mussolini-Hitler relationship dramatically changed as the war progressed. Back in the '20s, Hitler looked up to Mussolini while Mussolini basically dismissed Hitler. If Mussolini had not been trying to reinstitute Imperial Rome and kept out of foreign adventures, you might be correct and Mussolini might have survived and held power into old age. Franco survived a civil war but Spain never went looking for outside-the-border trouble under his rule, at least as far as I can recall.

Ah, Zerbe couldn't break Mannix with his torture chamber. So, now he brings in Peggy, and they're gonna make him watch while they beat and torture her.

Mannix's hair is slightly mussed. About 15% mussed, I'd gauge.

    Heh.

In other news, I spent some quality time with the Chinese Mystery Pistol. Made a new trigger for it, I did. Found a good set of parts illustrations at marstar.ca, and cut a blank from a piece of steel that was formerly part of the frame of this old trailer, here, and filed it to fit. It doesn't flop around, and it doesn't flip forward, as it has a stop spur on it that the prior one lacked. Squeeze it, and you feel the tension of the trigger bar spring, and release it, and it goes back to the released position nicely.

Haven't messed with the breechblock and firing pin yet; that's the next hurdle. But the main frame and its internal components are back together. The safety seems to work, too.

    Rule 34 infraction.

    /break

I was at the Houston Stock Show and Rodeo, followed by a Zac Brown concert in NRG Stadium, where the Houston Texans play.

Which, was full, by all appearances.

Irongranpa would have been THRILLED by Zac Brown's PATRIOTIC declaration.

It pretty much sounded like a two-sentence Irongranpa signature sign-off. In other words the dude went all Lee Greenwood, right in the middle of "Chicken Fried".

Bonus. The Zac Brown Band did renditions of Greg Allman's "Sometimes I Feel Like I'm Dying", Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and a couple others, beside.

"Nailed 'em", would be a horrible injustice of an understatement.

I felt like I was back in the 1970s, at a major concert event.

Whoever the Zac Brown Band's KEYBOARDIST is, is the most potent secret fucking weapon out there in all of rock.

Dude's vocals on the Allman piece, were not a karaoke imitation of Greg. They were unique, different, and if I might say... better.

The SOUL in what that guy did tonight, was astounding.

Turns out later though, he's no slouch as a backup lead guitar on "Enter Sandman".

    Here's a revelation though.

Zac Brown can drive a rhythm guitar so damn hard, you'd swear he was playing lead.

Which actually, he was. Rhythm guitar in the lead, with lead guitar playing behind the rhythm.

    Somehow, it worked.

Not the first time I've seen this band in concert, so, I can now say this with a bit of assurance.

Zac Brown band is one of the rarities, that's better ON STAGE than in the studio.

You can take that, to the bank.

To go geekspeak, Franco's Lawful neutral Spain is a much different neighbor than a Chaotic Evil Russian puppet, which would alter every decision Britain makes.
Also, a Franco loss would repudiate the tactics being employed by his German and Italian allies, and also kill or deny experience to the veteran troops who would soon be speaheading the blitz and the air war. It's not so much a cut and dried A thus B historical speculation as it is a butterfly effect of accumulated changes, ending with a crisis that makes the Berlin airlift seem like a traffic jam when Gibraltar is taken and the Reds close the Med.

I went to med center a follow-up to some pain I had that had grown, and 12 hours and on my 3rd hospital in that link I was in WI's flagship hospital with a diagnosis of cancer.

And unfortunately to paraphrase Moore's Watchman line "You know the kind [of cancer] you eventually get better from....Well that ain't the kind I got."

So this is a post on one hand asking for thoughts and prayers as I am looking at a surgery on Thurs where the surgeon point blank said he's never done what he will need to do, and he can't give me any odds whatsoever. So if someone could send this to fenelon for her prayer list I'd be grateful as I am on my back on my phone.

But the other half is wanting to Say how much I love this place And everyone here, even during the family squabbles. You all are the most amazing group outlaws, scofflaws, and lovingly humanan group of people that I believe if the founders could see that despite what may bebgoing on elsewhere would convince them it was all worth it.

I love this place Ace built and let's us play in and all you in it,.
