This is Cheyenne; she's already had her 15 minutes of fame, but...I decided to try something new to keep the shedding to a minimum ( it's moulting season). So, rather than buy a fancy doggie shirt at PetSmart, I figured I'd use one of the grandson's old t-shirts. Fits fine, but she was not amused, and as for the shedding... well, so much for that idea. Just spent 2 hours vacuuming the car...

Hi, I go by the name Aunt Luna in the comments. Here is my cat pic and bonus bird. The Manx cat is named Bruce, and he has only a stump for a tail. He was found as a stray and brought into the shelter when he was two years old. I thought it was unusual to find a uncommon breed just roaming the streets. I chose Bruce not just for his different appearance, but also because he begged for attention in his crate at the shelter. He is still very friendly and laid-back for a cat - he's even nice to the vet.
The bird is a 14 year-old cockatiel called Edel, which is German for precious or noble. My sister is the one who named him. She raised him from a chick, but she couldn't keep him in her dorm room when she moved away to college, so Edel became my bird. He can say his name, imitate my sneeze, wolf whistle, and he whistles the “charge” song, and sometimes he just makes up his own songs.
Edel has his own room that Bruce is not allowed to go in.

Gushka loves kittehs. There were 7 photos sent in. It was so hard picking out which ones would star today. Here's a little bit about them.

You said you need cats, i got cats. Ok, i think i have nine. More if yiu count the barn visitors without names. Heres a few of the house cats so you can pick images you like. All of them are from two wild calico cats that used to live in my hay barn, Lulu and Ditto. I still have Lu but i will add her in a seperate email

Here are the spawn of Lulu, otherwise known as The Butterscotch Gang. They all grew up in my barn but each one had some injury that made him a housecat. The big white guy with orange spotted is Cecil, his special talent is affability, and is the only cat who loves to have his tummy rubbbed all over, as much as you want. His brother is Tatertot. Tater is scary smart, he can figure out doors and work out how to get into anything. The orange and white guys are twins, Peekoe and Friendo. They are closer to feral than their brothers and really only like Grimmy and I, they assure curious about my friend Bebe, and will camp out on her, when shes sleeping.

I am mostly a lurker but here is my Peepers. She showed up in our window box, as a kitten, in the middle of a Michigan winter. I suspect someone dropped her off, on the rural road, thinking that she would die out there. I named her Peepers because she was very vocal and would "peep". She had a long and happy life and lived to the ripe old age of 22.

Here, for the horde enjoyment, are our pets. The cat is Sparrow, who we recently adopted from the local humane society. She is starting to earn her keep by keeping the local rodent population in check. She's about three.
These are our boys, a pair of Japanese Chin. Chiboshi is the black and white. He's 12 and we rescued him 11 years ago. Hiro is the red and white and we adopted him last summer. He's about 8. Their primary function in life is to lay around the house and look cute, which as you can see from the photo, they excel at.

4 Our cat keeps flipping his food bowl over. Usually with all the food neatly underneath it, somehow. I can't figure out what he's doing.

He likes taking some out with a paw and eating it off the floor too.

9 Hey! What about 3-legged critters? My sweet Dorkie Dork (a formerly-feral, brindle-colored, tabby-patterned laperm/ragdoll mix) had her right rear leg amputated last year after she sustained a bad spiral fracture of it but you'd never know from how active she is.

11 Did toenails last night on the girls going to the National soon. We use a Dremel with a grinder. Our guys stand quietly while being bathed and groomed, but toenails cause them - like all sighthounds - to go into passive-aggressive or overt hysterics.

17 th #WildKittenDilemma

Several nights back, driving in the gate, we saw a little yellow kitten dart away, over the wall into the pasture.

Then, last night at the gate, we saw, first, a small possum, and just as it ran into the tall grass, there was the kitten again, who also ran into the tall grass. We stopped, turned off the car, and called kittykittykitty, but kitty didn't answer. (Neither did the possum.)

(The gate is mumbledydozen yards from the house. A lot for little bitty kitty legs.)

Kitty looks just like Charlie did when Max first brought him to us.

We've had just the four cats for quite some time, and wonder how we ever managed to care for a dozen, back when we had lots of dogs, cats, and kids. Not really looking to take on another one.

My stepson said maybe it was the whiskey, but I know that can't be true. The cat only drinks milk.

25 Well, the latest poop (won't call it a scoop) on TFG and his melanin-deficient ex-girlfriend is (drum roll, please) they not only lived together, "They even had a cat together named Max."

As Ann Althouse remarks, "How is that even biologically possible?"

Well, it turns out that TFG is just as cold-hearted toward kittehs as Hillary was when she gave Socks to Betty Currie, after having exploited Socks for years by encouraging kids to write letters to him.

According to the Daily Mail, before TFG left Chicago for Harvard, he and the girlfriend had a farewell dinner with friends. They had just one question for the friends: "Could you please keep the cat?"

Luckily for teh kitteh, the friends agreed. According to the ex, now a professor at (second drum roll, please) Oberlin, "Barack was not sad to give Max away."

Somehow, I don't think Max missed TFG at all.

My cat is learning how to be a soccer goalie.

She sits ever so properly under the kitchen table, and waits for me to roll the foamy ball at her. She then bats it away. Most of the time she bats it back at me; sometimes it goes across the room. The legs of the table and the kitchen chair legs are also used for ricochets, like billiards.

It's pretty effing adorable.

49 Hi guys, lurker here.

I need some prayers for my best friend, Chamberlain the Russian Blue. He's been the most loving and loyal friend I've ever had for 18 years now. He's been with me through the death of two fathers, a marriage, a divorce, and countless other trials and life changes.

He started losing weight fast and I found a lump on his belly a few weeks ago. The vet found several more internal ones. No biopsy needed, he said. In the last few days Chamberlain has become unable to walk without falling down and when I bring him to the litter box he tries to lie down there. From what I've read this is a sign that the end is near.

He doesn't seem to be in pain. I can tell that he knows what is happening, as does my younger Russian Blue, Sammie.

Anyway, please pray for him, and me. When he goes I will have lost my closest, longest, and most loyal friend in the whole world. Losing him now, along with several other hard situations in my life right now... I'm really barely able to hold on.

Besides my cats, reading your comments day after day is probably the biggest source of joy in my life lately. Thank you for that.

Me too. Wet food works. Keep moving it closer to the house. I got a new pair of voulinteers in the ladt two weeks. Thats what im doing. Seducing them with stinky snacks.

Already had to scrape one cat off the asphalt, long time ago. (They don't usually go as far as the gate, but I think that one inadvertently rode a service truck from the house to the gate, and jumped off untimely.)

shibumi: perhaps you could get a humane trap for the kitten and add another to your horde?

Yeah, thought of that, but... just as, or more, likely to go back to the trap and find a possum... or raccoon... or skunk...!

62 Johnny @ 49- You're not crazy. Chamberlain has had enough pain and when it's his time, he'll go. Just hold him till he does. We lost our senior cat Mickel (was immortalized on this thread over a year ago) the same way as Chamberlain at about the same age. He lay on my lap for his last several hours and when he died I cried and so did Mrs. E. When I buried him between the house and the lake I put a piece of rose granite over him. Then I got drunk and smoked a cigar. He was the best non-human friend you could ask for and never left my side when I had cancer 13 years ago. I feel for you, Johnny. Hang in there.

Prayers from this corner of New England too. Of the six cats I've had down the years, four are already keeping the mice away from St. Peter's desk at the Pearly Gates. One of them died of cancer, so I've been through at least some of what you are suffering. Please keep in touch with us Pet Morons, or at least with Mis Hum, who is the guardian of the Caturday Pet Thread; the folks who post here are wonderfully caring.

Anyway, you have lots of us praying for you. God bless both you and Chamberlain. And no, you don't sound crazy at all.

79 Johnny, if you're crazy you've come to the right place. The loss of a furry friend is always devastating and it doesn't matter how long they've been in your life. Years ago I had to put my puppy down after having her only two weeks. Turns out she had come from a parvo factory. Months earlier I had been a Sergeant of Marines in Desert Storm and here I was crying like a baby. At least she was cared for the last two weeks of her short life.

82 We give the dogs a treat when they come in from the front yard. I usually get dog biscuits, but sometimes pick up freeze dried liver. My old Russian Blue figured that out, so now he comes over for his treat. He would never go out. The one time he did go out was when we lived up in the woods. My late husband found him by the trailer, fluffed up as big as he could get, surrounded by goats and chickens. He was happy to be rescued.

I may forget tomorrow - I just use mayo and lemon juice and dill. I prefer it medium thick, but to thin it, add more lemon juice. This is ultra basic. I make plenty because I love it. I always have dried dill handy, but fresh is always best, the more the better.

We always have dried dill on hand from The Spice House in Milwaukee. It's the best dried dill we've found. We usually have a good crop of dill in the garden for fresh.

159 Darn it all, fell asleep again and missed it. Oh well, I'll just relate the cute things mine did this week. Cat has decided that grandkid's chair is really his and has been sitting in it all week. Cat was particularly smug in front of grandkid, essentially daring the kid to roust him off. Kid is scared of Cat for some reason. Dog and Cat have been moping because grandkid was at home with parents this week. Kid was dropped off for half a day and the two were revitalized. Daughter looked at them and decided that grandkid really has to be here at least one day a week to keep them from a decline. Yeah, they really did get depressed, so I guess my dreams of a toddler-free vacation are gone.
