Of your pink Cadillac
Now some folks say it's too big
And uses too much gas
Some folks say it's too old
And that it goes too fast
But my love is bigger than a Honda
It's bigger than a Subaru
Hey man there's only one thing
And one car that will do
Anyway we don't have to drive it
Honey we can park it out in back
And have a party in your pink Cadillac

Okay, that's me. This one isn't bad. It vaguely reminds me of some simple, flowing Japanese brush and ink drawings, a style I do like.

BTW, the artist did an almost identical painting called 'Large Blues Horses'. Maybe he gave Andy Warhol the idea for his same picture/different color dreck.

I appreciate the continuation of 'yellow week'. It's been an unexpected hoot.

Further, Federal agencies may not restrict only transgender individuals to only use single-occupancy restrooms, such as family or accessible facilities open to all genders. However, Federal agencies may make individual-user options available to all individuals who voluntarily seek additional privacy.

bad. It vaguely reminds me of some simple, flowing Japanese brush and
ink drawings, a style I do like.

===============================================

August Macke, another member of that same Blue Rider German expressionist group, is good. I have a reproduction of one of his paintings as well. Something about girls in hats. Can't remember the exact name. His wok has more detail but uses much the same color palette. I like bright colors. They make me happy. I try to surround myself with color and light and flowers. My brain is naturally depressive, so I try to stimulate it with cheerful visuals.

DON'T BAN MUSLIMS; LET'S BAN SOUTHERNERS

Trump voters, show your cards so that we can call your bluff. What are you really, truly concerned about?

I'll answer for you. It is preserving white, male, heterosexual, Christian, gender normative privilege. Duck Dynasty democracy. Note the small "d." Robots and Mexicans are taking your jobs and will continue to do so. Stop whining about it. Adapt and woman up.

As long as we're banning religious extremists from certain regions, let's ban Southerners. They have a history of violent rebellion, subterfuge, sedition, and violent treason against our lawful democratic reppublican government and opposition to our founding principles.

Their states' economies are mediocre and education systems bankrupt. They're racists. They're murderers. They're lazy, fat, and stupid. And they don't talk right.

Christianity isn't itself necessarily evil (although I think it is), but Christians from the American South have wreaked havoc on this world with violence and stupidity. "Reparations!" they cray incredulously. "Reconstruction!" they lament. When is the South going to repair the damage it has done to this world?

Trump erroneously claims Hillary Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama created ISIS.

Trump is set to lose the New South: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia (thank God). I'll be voting for Hillary.

I quit them because of Memorial Day. I went in there and asked them where their Memorial Day flowers were. I was frostily informed by an Assistant Manager that Target doesn't DO Memorial Day flowers. So I looked over at all the displays of charcoal, lighter fluid, ketchup, mustard, chips, etc and said to the twit, "But, you sure don't mind making a buck off Memorial Day, a holiday that celebrates our fallen heroes, do you? Mother Jones where they were a bit concerned that Hilary had spent $90M
on ads to his zero and had not yet put Trump away.
==========
1) When--if ever--will Trump spend money?

2) Still can't make anything of why Hillary has pulled ad buys from several swing states? Is it (a) she's far enough ahead it doesn't matter, (b) she's out of money or (c) the internals are saying those voters are sick of her and this is a strategic break to launch another re-introduction?

3) What to make of the huge crowds for Trump? Are they real or hype? Do those matter? I recall Obama had far less enthusiasm in 2012 over 2008 yet still won easily.

4) What of the black vote? Hillary loses SC unless she matches Obama turnout AND percentage.

5) I'm still not seeing any polls that give Trump any hope in swing states--regardless of how the national polling looks. Keeping in mind that swing states tend to mirror the national polling.

Clearly conventional wisdom has not been a driver in the Trump campaign. He has done many things people said he shouldn't, or didn't do things they said he should. And he won the Republican primary. Bush spent over $100M and didn't get past SC. Trump spend zero and won.

Now people say, yes, but this is the general, things are different, he has to be different, he has to go all conventional now.

The recent campaign shakeup is a rejection of that thought. Romney's spending was about what Obama's was, didn't change the outcome. Same with McCain.

Polling says Trump is behind - and let's just say it would be better if we were ahead, and if he was, we'd be crowing about it. Polling said McCain was behind, too. And Romney.

So I don't fret that he isn't running a campaign the way they do. I think he's probably right that without the media he'd be about 20 points ahead. I think he needs to go aggressively against the media as much as he does Hillary, because they are really one and the same. It worked before, and I suspect that is what bringing on the Breitbart guy means.

231 In regards to tipping, when I traveled, I liked to do the unexpected tip...like giving the lady patiently waiting to clean an airport restroom some money and telling her her to have a soft drink on me. You would not believe how nice it was to see an exhausted face light up.

I also don't leave my hotel room a mess and I always tip. When I was staying for a month in that Hilton across from the WTC towers before they fell, one afternoon, the maid was doing the turn down service and she told me that she looked forward to doing my room--not because of the tip, but, because I treated her like a person.

I love Monet - wonderful. My brain chemistry doesn't handle subtle as well as it does high contrast, so that's what I tend to go with in my own personal space. I do enjoy other art movements or other artists. I just am very deliberate as to what I look at every day. I have some minimal damage to a particular area of my brain, so I have learned to guard my environment closely.

If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand-shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

245 1) When--if ever--will Trump spend money?

Posted by: RoyalOil at August 18, 2016 11:01 AM (77emZ)

1. I figure with the staff shake-up, soon. Running ad before September doesn't mean much when both candidates are well defined. BTW, did see an NRA add against Hillary. My only complaint is they had the actress playing her move way to fast. Should have had her hobbling along.

2. I think it's that the ads aren't working much.

3. It's a sign of enthusiasm. Let's face it, Romney never generated much enthusiasm.

4. I predict it will be down because no black on the ticket.

5. This is going to be a who is willing to vote election. I don't know that Hillary is motivating anyone to go out in the rain to vote. Do the polls mean much, I don't know. They're right until they're wrong.

Trump is smart and so many people like to think otherwise because he's telling the truth about the media and Hillary, so he must be dumb. Real estate development is the business equivalent of swimming with starving sharks while bleeding and he's been successful at it for decades, but, somehow despite that he's stupid.

Bannon to me is a good hire, because the Breitbart model is to know the enemy inside and out and the enemy is the Left and the media, not just Hillary.

So I unliked the page and made a note to keep watching her movies on TV.

And he said pretty pointedly that Bannon has never run a national campaign or ANY campaign even for a local school board so he can't really say.

274 Hillary ad about making the well to do finally pay their fair share of taxes. Then using the money to create jobs.

When the Feds take in taxes the money is destroyed. It is literally burned if it is in cash - if it is in the form of a check the check is subtracted from your account, but it is not added to some Government account - the money simply vanishes. The Feds print the money, they don't need your stinking money - nor do they have to borrow money from somebody else to print new money.

This takes a while to explain to intelligent conservatives - it is almost impossible to explain to LIVs. This is why Hillary and the left get away with this kind of crap.

I saw plenty of wives and girlfriends do that. But, never a guy. So, I learned something new here.

Also, since the girls who serve consider that money left as a tip, theirs because they worked for it,

they consider that money stolen from them-

So-o-o-o-o-o-o, you can imagine what's happening to your food and/ or drinks when the girls see you come back in again- if they recognize you.

I've had one minor accident in my life. Going into a medical building parking lot, I missed the ticket. I backed up to get it and there was a little care literally under my bumper, I couldn't see it, it was so close. She was old and didn't honk because she "forgot how" (shouldn't have been driving then, in my opinion). I saw a fish on her car. I was nice to her, since I have an old mother who would do something similarily dumb, like get nervous and forget how to honk while under a car. Anyway, she called me to tell me how nice my USAA insurance company was and how easy it was to take care of it, and how nice my son and I were to her. Little bump, little damage.

I told her that I was so nice only because of her fish. I thought the fish represented that she wouldn't try to scam me or my insurance company for "soft tissue damage" etc.

She was stunned and pleased that her fish had made such a difference. Had she had one of those Darwin things, I might have been inclined to say she ran into me. Maybe.

Yes, most of it.

Now one of the things is I keep hearing that the "problem" with the Trump campaign is failure to adhere to message discipline.

That if Trump would just be more disciplined in his message then his polling wouldn't be so bad, etc.

I don't know that I agree - I keep saying that conventional wisdom doesn't apply so much in his campaign. If he turned into a guy that kept hitting the same three talking points all the time I think that would be net negative for him.

I don't know if Bannon being an SOB (which is what the knock seems to be on him) is necessarily a bad thing.

303 Larry O'Connor - who I believe is a moron, at least a lurker - is on local radio here in DC - he worked for Breitbart and while he hasn't come out and said anything directly - probably some non-disparagement clause in his leaving (which probably matters because I think he is still a defendant in the Sherrod case) he has pointed to others who have left without such a clause who are not fans of Bannon nor his management.

And he said pretty pointedly that Bannon has never run a national campaign or ANY campaign even for a local school board so he can't really say.

But that being said, Trump has never run a campaign either and he's doing pretty well for that.

He (O'Connor) also said something that made me think...

One of the things Andrew Breitbart was totally against was the incestuous nature of the Democrats being in bed with the media. If we had heard that Hillary Clinton was regularly calling the president of NBC for advice, we'd be very angry. But having Trump call Bannon and then having him become part of the campaign is different?

If this helps defeat Clinton, then fine - I've pretty much abandoned the attempt at being intellectually consistent on such things - but I do hate that it's coming to this.

So, go! and organize! and attend! meetups for the sake of your sanity in these up-side-down times!

So here's the thing about ads. Just showing up with money in hand and declaring "I want to run some ads!" does precisely nothing unless there are available ad slots for sale.

My longstanding prediction was to the effect that Trump would ignore the need for paid media till late in the game, then would realize he needed it, then would go raise the money and produce the ads, and then... would find that every slot in every key swing-state media market had already been bought up in advance by Clintonworld.

This is an old Democratic tactic. Republicans get suckered by it as reliably as Charlie Brown having the football pulled away by Lucy.

The man replied, one sock has a black thread and one sock has a red. Every day I switch which sock goes on which foot so they wear out evenly. 343 votermom -

Put some chicken pieces (uncooked) in a baking pan. Best ones for flavor and LCHF-ness are chicken thighs with the bones and the skin, but you can use anything.

Drizzle on a little olive oil, rather a lot of lemon juice (and please make it the bottled kind, to make me feel validated. Thank you.), garlic powder (none of this fresh stuff for this recipe), oregano, and salt and pepper.

Bake uncovered at 375 until it looks like something you'd want to eat, maybe 45 minutes to an hour. The skin gets all brown and crispy and there will be a lot of juices in the pan (part of the reason you want to use a lot of lemon juice).

Serve with rice to soak up the pan juices.

This is the number one fave in our house and it's ridiculously easy.

362 "If we had heard that Hillary Clinton was regularly calling the

Bannon and then having him become part of the campaign is different?"

Let us posit that Breitbart (the firm) is not and has not been in the habit of describing itself as anything other than an actively ideological rightist media outlet.

Whereas NBC and the other alphabet-soup networks, and the paper press, are invariably and vocally self-congratulatory about being "objective, neutral, and nonpartisan", despite their being anything but those things.

It wouldn't be bad if an openly, avowedly leftist news outfit, say, _Mother Jones_ or _The Nation_, was allying itself with the Clinton campaign and pulling as hard as they could for a Hillary victory. Leftists gonna leftist. Rightists gonna rightist. What's bad is to have the purportedly honest brokers of unbiased news, the ones who claim not to have a dog in the fight, doing so.

With more organization we would have had a bigger event, but I had been up to my eyeballs in work and had to call on another 'ette last minute to do what she could with short notice. I am absolutely not jumping to any conclusions on this. It's a perfect combination for the presence of misinformation: Brazil is overzealous about protecting their image, it's an American abroad, who may or may not have been the victim of a crime (thus, lending itself to being a poor eyewitness)... and we're getting ALL of this filtered through the lens of the media.

So who knows what actually happened.

374 I can't for the life of me understand that there are very many voters left looking for a reason to vote FOR Hillary. I can see people still looking for reasons to jump aboard the TrumpTrain. Weird ads.
Posted by: Lea at August 18, 2016 11:37 AM (lIU4e)

I've seen those ads. Hillary is standing in a tiny tailor shop, probably in NYC, that makes either custom, $1500 suits or couture clothing and then picks up a Trump tie from Macy's and reads the label, made in China. Trump has said that there wasn't a manufacturer left in America that could make his ties and suits for Macy's and he's right. Macy's would have ordered those items by the tens of thousands, and you have to go to China to get that kind of quantity.
Some little custom shop in the fashion district isn't going to pump out $350 suits by the thousands.

To me, it only highlights that we have lost mass manufacturing here and it you want a suit, you either pay thousands for a custom one, or the little people have to buy it at Men's Wearhouse, where it is made in China, Thailand, or Vietnam.

We like to think issues are the key because we're politics geeks but the fact is likability is the thing that matters. See Romney -- genuinely smart and efficient guy who looks like a wealthy douchebag -- vs. Obama -- a genuine Manchurian candidate who is likable and fun loving.

That's Hillary's problem: No matter what you think of The Donald, Hillary is the librarian who shushed you in elementary school, the next door neighbor who yelled at your dog, the mean bitch at the DMV and your first wife's mother. She can't shake that no matter what she does.

Trump has to play to that. He has to attack her unlikeability unmercifully. It has to be mean, it has to be unfair, and it has to be on TV AND social media or it will miss a whole generation.

Last few Trump speeches, especially the one on foreign policy and immigration, Levin was praising. He also said that if Trump goes back to talking about tariffs, he will be criticizing him again.

That's fine. I don't have an issue with Levin criticizing a policy he doesn't agree with. But the constant screaming and wailing about Trump personally, calling him names, etc. was over the top.

He thinks Trump and his campaign listen to his program and he thinks he is "talking" to them through his program.

My running around was due to getting in my "Bob-o-Matic" patented watch back removal tools kit so I could change the battery in a Timex Expedition watch I had. BION this has been the most accurate watch I ever had. We this "tool kit" came with not instructions and it had tools in it like I have never seen before.

I scoped it out and figured I had it down. But could not make it work. I finally used my good old pocket knife to pop the back off. Of course when I popped the back off the battery hopped out of the watch and I didn't get to see how it was mounted with respect to polarity. The only thing in the kit that was useful was the watch holder clamp. When I got the battery out I went down to Wallyworld to get a new one. Of course they didn't have one so I will have to order it. Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed.

Oh, I think that is a possibility.

The way I see it, the only way to ensure driverless cars are safe is to go 100% driverless - then, and only then, can they be programmed to deal with a finite set of predictable behaviors. Humans are too unpredictable - when driving you're taking into account all sorts of things, not just traffic signs/signals, but noticing that they guy in front of you is texting, or that the lady in the other lane is kinda swervey, or that certain intersections always have people who run the lights, etc. Can't imagine Uber, Google, Ford want to be liable for a driverless car crash because of it not being able to handle erratic, unpredictable human divers.

They will insist we do this to ensure that we are safe - just like they insisted we all get Obamacare to ensure our good health.

There have been so many conflicting stories. Earlier today, the cab driver hauling them around said Lochte got nasty with the gas station attendent, why were they in a gas station if they were in a cab? Lochte story changed to that the gas station attendent pulled a gun on him, instead of some robber. Then he said that he, Lochte, was so drunk that he really doesn't remember stuff accurately.

Good heavens, Hope Solo was arrested for assault, when she was so intoxicated she assaulted her sister, her nephew, then threatened the arresting officers with harm if they "took the cuffs off her" and got to spend a couple of days in jail.
All was forgiven and she was placed on the USA soccer team, where she trolled Brazil on Facebook then after losing a game, made a total ass of herself by calling the winning teams, "cowards" in the media.

492 488 Now, I'm not lousy tipper. 15-20% always. On pretax total. But what I like to do is fan the money out, then fold it over, then tuck under placement. So, at first glance, six $5.00 bills. But there's only three. So a $15.00 tip looks like $30.00

It's an internal struggle. I want to leave $30.00 but I don't want to. So I compromise.

I'm sure all sorts of vendors for prisons also dump campaign cash to get these contracts.

Ingrid Oliveira, 20, is claimed to have slept with compatriot Pedro Goncalves at her room in the Olympic Village the night before she was due to dive at the Games .

Their 'marathon night of sex', as it was called in South American media, allegedly left Oliveira's teammate Giovanna Pedroso, 17, furious - and they have now split.

560 541 WTF? Tipping on pre-tax tab?

A few weeks ago, I was with the wife at White House/Black Market while she shopped for clothes. The salesgirl was extra helpful and pleasant, so while she was bringing so things to the dressing room, I thanked her and gave her a $20 tip.

She was so happy that she found other items that were on third mark down and talked the wife into waiting on one jacket that was going on sale in a week.

Well worth the money and everyone was happy.

Define property tax.
Is that above and beyond the annual registration for license plates? Because Texas, as a state, DOESN'T have a property tax. Just the annual registration.

City of Dallas DOES have a property tax above and beyond.

581 Tipping ... never waited tables in a restaurant that wasn't our own, and that only briefly, but Daughter has done a lot of waitressing. She's seen all the fat wallets, old people, and nominal Christians who tip low, don't tip at all, or leave some Christian tract with a nickel. I've never heard of the tract designed to look like a fiver - that's admitting to cheapness.

We used to dine out frequently, especially when we lived in Santa Fe and Chicago, and we moved to 20% when Dear Abby was still recommending 15.

Once dining out with a close relative in Santa Fe, we left the restaurant, then relative ducked back in to snatch half the tip I'd left. Relative was trust-fund wealthy, too. That was infuriating.

Aaaaannnnd... willowed. Ace is up.

Well, familiarity often breeds contempt.

I know that Jane lives down there, and I criticize no one for living in the area. It obviously has attracted a lot of people.

But, that is the reason I no longer live there, and why my sister and BIL have also departed. Thomas Wolfe wrote 'You Can't Go Home Again', and he was right. What I regarded as paradise has been thoroughly over-developed and invaded by hordes of people from 'other' places.

A drive down the coast leaves me sick to my stomach. But that's just me.

585 It's almost like they WANT the deviants (technical term - they deviate from the norm) to be in the company of others...

No shit, so to speak. Dirty Li'l Secret of the whole "access to facilities" scandal: it began in the 70's when every major state university campus had a designated restroom somewhere on the central quad that was the meet-and-greet hole. Only you had to know somebody to know which one it was, and that one, also so to speak, swung both ways. Only in a few prudish places did it become an issue, and that's where The Issue came from. Things we're not supposed to remember.

588 Our "car property tax" is what we pay for the tags on the license plate, its a % of the value of the car.

It really discourages you to buy a newer car because it can add up. If you drive an older car, the tags are pretty reasonable.

It's actually quite high on expensive cars, and some "smarter" people will buy an exotic car and have like Montana license plates where its like $25 a year instead of paying thousands for a little sticker. Very hard to prove.

589 SJWs are whining about the impending release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided next week. Apparently the fact that players are confronted with moral choices, and can pick "immoral" ones, is causing SJWs to get the vapors.

Of course, this is after earlier complaints about ads for the game that co-opted Black Lives Matter.

In any event, since the game releases next week, it's too late to do anything about the complaints. And that assumes that Square- Enix is even inclined to do so. It's a Japanese company, and the Japanese tend to be inclined to ignore SJW whining.

Lochte aside, the majority of athletes are late teenager, early adult age. In other words, stupid. They have been prohibited for months, possibly years, from imbibing in any substance forbidden by their sports rules, and now that their event is over, they are going to parrrteee.
Lochte mom and his girlfriend are there, staying in a hotel. Lochte, instead of spending time with girlfriend , goes out with three other guys all night in Rio.....apparently mom and girlfriend aren't too swift either.

And yes, Americans can be real idiots about the risks they take oversees.

Besides the people imprisoned in places like Iran and N.Korea, where I can't imagine any American would want to visit, there have been episodes like the teenage kid in Indonesia who received a caning for possessing a girlie magazine.

When you are visiting a foreign country, you are NOT an ambassador, free to do and say what you like. You live under their rules, not yours.

No.

You have to be proven, through a lengthy arbitration for sport procedure from both your home country and the IOC, that you cheated in your sport to win a medal.

The Olympic athlete used to be looked upon as a wonderful individual, ethically and morally righteous and conducting themselves in a sportsmanlike manner.
Then the IOC decided that professional athletes could compete in what used to be an amateur competition, and allowed all athletes to have been paid, receive endorsement offers, etc prior to competition. And now it is simply a badly run, corrupt, corporate enterprise that lucks out once in a while with athletes such a Briles, or the 41 year old female gymnast who won't quit.

Even Briles has commercials out during her competition of her enjoying a Hershey bar, and I think she has a cereal commercial.

593 If anyone is still looking at this thread I just checked my last year's taxes. The property tax on my 1996 F-150 was $85. The tax on my 2001 Crown Vic was $98. The property tax on my wife's 2014 Toyota Venza was $364. And they supposedly reduced car property taxes after jacking up the sales tax another 2 cents on the dollar. They did not decrease the boat tax, and they tax the boat, the engine, and the trailer all separately.

In Laurens County, GA where I grew up the truck would be too cheap to tax. The other cars would be likewise a LOT lower. Would still have the annual registration fee of around $25 each.
