Quote of the Day I - The Real Che Edition

The fog of time and the strength of anti-anti-Communism have obscured the real Che. Who was he? He was an Argentinian revolutionary who served as Castro's primary thug. He was especially infamous for presiding over summary executions at La Cabaña, the fortress that was his abattoir. He liked to administer the coup de grâce, the bullet to the back of the neck. And he loved to parade people past El Paredón, the reddened wall against which so many innocents were killed. Furthermore, he established the labor-camp system in which countless citizens - dissidents, democrats, artists, homosexuals - would suffer and die. This is the Cuban gulag. A Cuban-American writer, Humberto Fontova, described Guevara as "a combination of Beria and Himmler." Anthony Daniels once quipped, "The difference between [Guevara] and Pol Pot was that [the former] never studied in Paris."

Remaining Mysteries From the Paris Attacks

Four months after the November attacks in Paris there's still a lot that authorities don't know. The attackers apparently had crates of disposable 'burner' phones, and only activated them shortly before the attack. But none of the burner phones or the attackers' personal devices contain any emails or texts linking them to the attacks which suggests that they were using some kind of hidden encryption or have another undiscovered communication network altogether and were disciplined about using it. Furthermore the bombs used were sophisticated and showed evidence of having been mass produced which indicates there could be a yet-to-be-found bomb factory somewhere within Europe.

One of the gunmen pulled out a laptop, propping it open against the wall, said the 40-year-old woman. When the laptop powered on, she saw a line of gibberish across the screen: "It was bizarre - he was looking at a bunch of lines, like lines of code. There was no image, no internet," she said. Her description matches the look of certain encryption software, which Isis claims to have used during the Paris attacks.

...New phones linked to the assailants at the stadium and the restaurant also showed calls to Belgium in the hours and minutes before the attacks, suggesting a rear base manned by a web of still unidentified accomplices. Security camera footage showed Bilal Hadfi, the youngest of the assailants, as he paced outside the stadium, talking on a cellphone. The phone was activated less than an hour before he detonated his vest. From 8.41pm until just before he died at 9.28pm, the phone was in constant touch with a phone inside the rental car being driven by Abaaoud. It also repeatedly called a cellphone in Belgium.

Hulk Hogan Wins Another $25 Million in Punitive Damages, $10 Million of Which Must Come Out of Nick Denton's Pocket

The jury's decision came just hours after Judge Pamela Campbell informed the four women and two men deciding the case that Denton is worth $121million while the site is valued at $83million.

Judge Campbell also informed the jury that the former editor of the site who posted the video, 41-year-old AJ Daulerio, has no assets and owes $27,000 in student loans

He was hit even harder than Denton by jurors Monday, who ordered him to pay $100,000 of his own money despite being told about his financial status earlier in the day.

Like Baseball: Cry at Work If You Never Want to Succeed

Crying is an absolutely spiffing way to get what you want - in the short term. But once you've hosted a one-person snivel party, people tend to remember it. And nobody wants to see it again. People will start finding excuses to gently steer you away from challenging situations. They'll do your work themselves. They'll find someone else to give the hard-deadline gotta-have-this-now project.

All of which means you'll become devalued and marginalized. If you want to secure the promotion, snag the bonus, make it to the top, you'll have to prove you can do the tough stuff. Women will be set back 100 years if they start believing it's OK to cry on the job.

But hey, OK, fine, if you just want to remain on the Girl Track for the rest of your life, by all means interrupt the weekly departmental meeting to fill your empty venti cup with your hot, salty tears. But take a good look around you as you do so. In my experience, women bosses tend to be even less sympathetic than men to female issues. Why? Because women bosses know what it's like to be women. They managed to make it anyway, and they think other women should, too. Bosses like employees who remind them of themselves.

Girl, 6, To Be Taken Away From Her Foster Parents of 5 Years Because She is 1.5% Native American and They Are Not

Thanks to a 70s era law, the Indian Child Welfare Act, which says that native american children can only be placed with native american families.

Department of Children and Family Services agents were expected to take Lexi from her home at 10am on Sunday but postponed after a large group of protesters took a stand against her removal.

The family is under 'specific orders' not to tell Lexi or their other children what is happening.

'As a grandmother, it's ripping my heart. It's ripping me apart to see Lexi has been a part of our family for almost five years, and she's not going to understand what's going on.

'The children are not going to understand the separation. This is going to destroy these children,' Tari Kelly, Lexi's foster grandmother, told ABC 7.

The Choctaw tribe has decided to place Lexi with extended non-blood relatives in Utah, who are not Native Americans and will not be living on the reservation.

So they've managed to maximize everyone's pain and suffering with no actual benefit. Good job assholes.

Transgender 16-Year-Old Wins the Right to Cut Off All Contact With Parents Who Adopted Him at 6 After They Called Him by His Old Name

Welcome to the age of narcissism and indulgence, now enforced by the state.

The boy, identified only as PD, expressed that he wanted to be a boy in 2014 and was referred to the Tavistock Gender Identity Clinic with gender dysphoria.

He later changed by deed poll. However his parents, who adopted PD when he was six, struggled to come to terms with his decision and called him by his previous name.

In a ruling made public today, Mr Justice Keehan said the couple's use of the wrong name had caused PD 'great annoyance and distress'.

PD came to the decision that he no longer wished his parents to be involved in his life; or receive any information about him, his assessment or any possible treatment.

His parents came to accept they should not receive any medical information but, in the hope they would one day be reconciled with their son, asked to receive quarterly updates on PD's life and welfare.

However the judge said PD, who has taken two overdoses and now lives with foster carers, did not agree with the request.

His views are held so strongly that he does not want his parents notified even if he needs emergency medical treatment.

Why You Shouldn't Let The Internet Name Things: Meet The RRS 'Boaty McBoatface'

The eccentric moniker emerged as a favourite after Britain's Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) sought input in naming the new vessel, which will be a flagship of its scientific fleet.

The public were urged to find an 'inspirational name' that reflects the ship's mission, studying ice sheets, and celebrates Britain's long naval history.

Former BBC radio presenter James Hand said that while he stands by Boaty McBoatface as a 'brilliant name' for a ship, he has actually voted for RRS David Attenborough to be the new name.

...Boaty McBoatface is currently leading with 28,590 votes. The second-favourite - the RRS Henry Worsley, named after the explorer who died trying to make the first unassisted solo crossing of the Antarctic in January - has just over three thousand votes.

If you walk through any arts event in Scum Scamfrisco, you will find variations on the iconic Che photograph either on display as artwork, or for sale as merchandise.

These people are so vacuous that their skulls must contain a harder vacuum than any now recognized by physics. In reality, Che Guevara HATED the arts. Thought they were bourgeois and a waste of time and energy. He even prohibited turgid Soviet "socialist realism" in Cuba while he was alive.

Che perfectly illustrates my pet theory about the left, that they aren't interested in building a socialist utopia, they're just interested in death and destruction. As long as they personally get the opportunity to shoot kneeling Kulaks in the back of the neck, they're happy.

Similarly, Che was happy when he was shooting people, but once the major part of the killing was done after Castro took over, Che decided "fuck this" and split for the Congo.

Blowing trains up is a hell of a lot more fun than making the damned things run on time.

While in the jungle on his last attempt to overthrow a country he forbade his men from having sex (yes with women).
Yet in camp he was regularly hooking up with a woman who was actually a KGB agent.

Castro, an astute student of Stalin's methods, was aware that Stalin had found it prudent to regularly rotate in new heads of the Cheka. Giving the old heads a carefully administered dose of a few grams of lead as he did so. The better to reduce the risk of palace coups.

It's really hard to figure a scenario under which Castro wouldn't have discreetly ratted out his former chief executioner. To eliminate any future lethal threat to the person of the capo di tutti capi, and to create a revolutionary martyr for agitprop use, in one fell swoop.

240 For praying morons I came home from work today and finally concluded I don't like my job. While I've had moments of enjoyment (actually more than moments) I really don't like my job. I feel its aging me and wearing me and hurting my marriage and my health.

It's kind of like I don't know what do--maybe I'm just momentarily depressed, pissed off or discouraged but I'm really not liking my job. Pray for some kind of clarity.

BTW I'm a car salesman. Make that my job right now is selling cars. Too many bosses--too much bullshit.

I just wanted to get that off my chest. Maybe I can find a job as a sales manager for hot Israeli chicks selling skin care products.

Heh!! I was stationed at MacDill AFB in Tampa during the mid-late 90s. I'm from Pennsylvania. I thought to myself one weekend "gee, Key West doesn't look that far". and drove down there on a Saturday morning. Got there late Saturday evening. Didn't see much of it since it took 9 hours to get there and 9 hours back. I stayed at the campgrounds at the Navy base there. Still, I did go again and planned ahead to give me a few days to enjoy the Keys. Key West is a tourist trap but I liked it (Hemmingway's cats were cool).

313 Nothernlurker....

I sold cars for nearly ten years, and made my way up to Internet Sales Manager, with every Ford certification you could get.

Along the way, I'd worked with GMC, Pontiac & Buick, as well as Honda and Toyota.

Selling on a truck-heavy inventory is the only way to really make steady money, and though the job itself (the process of working with the customer, working the deal, selling the vehicle, doing the paperwork) does not suck....hell, it's actually fairly easy and usually nearly fun.

The fact that your financial fate is in the hands of whoever the store has hired as a General Sales Manager is the First Sux, and the ungodly hours are the Second Sux.

And that's before you get to cheating sales managers, who shuffle the gross profit to the back end of the F&I desk, or who take a dislike to a given sales rep, and make sure the poor SOB can't sell fire extinguishers to a burning man.

Those are the parts of the job that kill your soul.

Probably the easiest conversion to less stressful money, at least on straight commission, is to hook up with a highly reputable residential roofing company in your area.

Your normal commission, even starting out, will be right at +/- $1,000, vs. the usual "mini" of a tight car deal. Bigger houses, higher roofs, steeper ones, all pay more. You don't have to climb and measure like the olde days, that can all be done via satellite now. (Eagle View).

And you'd be far more in control of your own hours, can run those errands you need to run, too.

Other than a few later deals to meet homeowners after work, you're usually home for dinner. At least, most nights per week. Yeah, you might work a weekend or three, but it's all a tradeoff.

Just don't do like I did and fall though a commercial skylight. Good thing I'm not a horse, cause that one would've put me in the glue factory.

314 Europeans generally don't understand how big the US is, which is part of the reason that they don't understand our culture.

When I lived in Europe I was once asked how a rainstorm the day of the Presidential election would affect results (apparently a big consideration in Europe, as "the poor" are thought more likely to stay home and not vote if it rains).

"A rainstorm? That covers the whole f'ing country?? Never mind the election; everyone will be building arks."

315 274 Florida has the same issue. It's staggeringly long, and people from out of the state, particularly out of the country just don't get it.

I've lived in Florida for 15 years and have still never been to Miami. It's too far to drive, but too close to fly.

Key West I've been to, but only because the cruise ships stop there.
Posted by: Dave in Fla at March 21, 2016 10:22 PM (kBIIG)

Even states that don't look that big or long on the map take longer to drive through than you'd think they would. I have heard the Apostle Islands on the northern, Lake Superior shore of Wisconsin are beautiful. I've never been there though and probably never will because it's a 7 hour round trip to get up there from here. It's easier to fly to NYC or Florida than it is to visit the northernmost part of my state.

You understate the matter.

The papers in the Soviet archives confirmed that Castro urged the USSR to launch a first strike on the US during the '62 event.

So, no, Castro wasn't just another 3rd world client of the soviets.

He actually entertained the kind of global nuclear war lunacy that the Let insists was a infection in the US leadership.

You'll have to go see the judge." I follow the trooper into town and I meet the sweetest old lady that you could imagine. "Young man, the trooper says you are very respectful and you've got a nice short haircut. I'm only going to charge you $10 if you promise to slow down a little bit." I sure was glad I still had a govt issued haircut and $10 in my pocket. And that they never found all the guns in my car.

Oh, it's worse than that, they *actively* want you to be like them, and they're fanatics about it. (Most) think things like "the only way to (X) is for everyone to work together," and a million variations on that theme.

So, when they can't have everyone (and their goofy plan doesn't work), it becomes *your* fault for not singing kumbaya loud enough.

It's maddening, and I don't know where the impulse comes from except that it seems to be so deep-seated it's almost instinctive.

I must be a car salesman's dream. I had always bought used cars from their owners. In the summer of 2014 I needed to replace my car, which was rotting away and wouldn't pass inspection.

I was expecting an ardurous process of comparing different vehicles, features, prices, and whatnot. I had never set foot in a dealership before, nor had I ever bought a new car. I went into a dealership to look at a car that was on sale, took it for a test drive, and said, "OK, I'll take it". I signed the paperwork, showed up the next day with a check from the bank, and drove home. Bang. Done.

403 Fella what "bought the wrong bridge" was Robert Paxton McCulloch, heck of a guy, and as you can tell by his name, kind of a player in superchargers and power equipment. It's at Lake Havasu City, his showcase development, and he was pleased with the deal as it turned out.

As I was about to leave, his youngest daughter took me aside and asked, real quietly, "How stable is gunpowder?" There followed a series of brief, very concerned, questions. It's commercial (he was a hobby chemist, so I had to ask). It's locked in a good safe. It's up to 30 years old, but not "ancient" formulas. And it's in its original cans.

The thought came to her that, should someone really go after the place, they might try to burn through the safe door. Well, how much can there be in there anyway? "About 300 pounds."

I instructed her in the first tenet of the Leverite faith.

471 My car is a 97 T-Bird. Bought the wife an '04 Grand Cherokee, then later bought her a '14 Enclave. So we have all three US makes. Deal was, she gets the Buick, I get the Jeep. But then she got wind of my plans to lift it and put some Kabul-style bumpers on it, and she says it's hers again. For now at least. I'm just happy that my two cars don't have those stupid-ass LEDs around the headlights. Or autobrakes.

476 At the funeral home for my ol' prepper buddy today, was actually happy to hear he'd exacted a promise they keep all his guns in the family. They have not found his catalogue yet, but I'd followed his purchases enough the last several years to assure them that it does exist in there, somewhere. I don't want the job.

Leverite there.

You're going to ask anyway. Yeah, she's "hawt." And, she has gunpowder.

I had a carbide miner's lamp back in the day. Bought new, too, at Payne Hardware on Lonsdale Avenue in North Vancouver, BC. One of the great old-time hardware stores. Yes, they sold dynamite, too.

But this lot came to me much later, a result of TDG rules making it uneconomic for small carriers to transport small quantities. Used to be, you wanted to check "lag time", defined as the time it takes for gas from the depth of the drill bit to get pumped back to surface, you'd wrap an ounce or two of carbide in a piece of toilet paper, and drop it into the drill pipe when the roughnecks were making a connection. Now the internal volume of the drill pipe is known, to better than two decimal places. And pump rate and efficiency are known, too. So you can calculate darn near exactly how long it takes for that carbide, and the gas it generates, to be pumped down the drill string, and out the jets in the bit. So you drop the carbide at 14:25, and see the gas peak or Acetylene peak on the chromat at 15:13, and you have calculated your down time is 3.3 minutes, you know your bottom-up lag time is 44.7 minutes.

520 The encryption talk and the mention of quantum computers got me to reading.

To recap, there are rumors the NSA actually has a working quantum computer. Many don't think it's possible. If they did, they would be sitting on a lot of advanced knowledge and skill that they've managed to keep utterly secret and out of the public domain. So many don't believe that's possible. But, those guys are good. They've been at the sneaky, lying, backdooring, deception business since WWII and before in one form or another.

However, it is highly likely, almost certain, that the NSA can break most encryption in common use. That includes VPNs and HTTPS and just about any "secure" traffic over the internet.

There are weakness in the implementations of all these protocols. I wonder why? That's those NSA moles all over the private sector tech companies, of course.

Here, you don't put a backdoor proper in. You just put in a weakness. A subtle weakness. One that no one will easily notice, and even if they do, think it's so complex, no one can really exploit it.

I was reading one long explanation of this. It's in the standard Diffie-Helman key exchange protocol. Not in the protocol itself, but in how everyone implements it. He demonstrated that someone determined, someone who drop $100s of millions here and there in specialized equipment, could easily exploit that weakness.

And guess who that someone is? Ol' Bob at the NSA.

All of this shit with Apple and similiar is just Kabuki theater, I'm now convinced. It's about law enforcement and that. The super spooks, if they wanted to, could have owned that particular Apple phone. They probably have. But LEO, the FBI here, doesn't get the benefit of that. They operate at a different level, one of court warrants, admissible evidence, and trials and jail time.

The FBI doesn't have a clue what Bob at the NSA can do. And Bob wants it to stay that way.

Naw, just the cheap-ass stuff that turns to pulp and won't plug the jets in the bit. There's enough time that even lazy carbide will react. And if you get two peaks? One much sooner than expected? You have a washed-out joint in the string. Get 'er out of there, or plan on going fishing.

Nowadays, they use oil-base mud so much, and also down-hole motors and survey tools, that putting any solids into the drilling fluid is a no-no.

This elicited a one finger salute from many commuters - either a thumbs up, or the other one. The ugly ones far outnumbered the happy ones, and were usually accompanied by very nasty, red-faced tirades from grey haired commies at various rates of speed.

534 Interestingly, it was Snowden that allowed this guy I was reading to figure out the NSA "owned" Diffie-Hellman. The information didn't say it directly, but it has stuff in it that was basically, if you knew how to break Diffie-Hellman exchange, this is what you would need, and this is what you'd be doing. Well, the NSA is doing exactly that.

Suppose you have a VPN tunnel set up. The NSA owns that. If they want to listen it, you're encrypted traffic is copied and sent to the Death Star facility out in Utah. Bob sees it all if he wants to.

Their budget, which is black and hidden, is estimated to be billions of dollars per year directed at attacking computer networks the world over. A special project, a lump sum to do something special, well that can be arranged any time they need it.

546 520 The encryption talk and the mention of quantum computers got me to reading.

The NSA was bitching about them encrypting that traffic.

And the US govt started using all it's carrots and sticks to try to throw a monkey wrench in that.

ANd then, all of the sudden, they stopped worrying about. Hey guys, encrypt all you want. We give up. Why? Well, if you just did something like break Diffie-Hellman, that's exactly what you'd do.

565 In this rambling, I've been throwing around Diffie-Hellman key exchange, and how the NSA may have broken this. Why is this such a big deal? Because just about all the standard point to point encryption protocols rely on it to work.

A non-mathematical explanation of how Diffie-Hellman works is this. In the lingo, we have A and B, Alice and Bob, who want to send secrets between them. Alice and Bob want to be able to be anywhere in the world, and a send a secure message.

Now, they could have each other's keys of some sort. But that is dangerous. Bob could lose the key, or someone could steal and duplicate it, and thus open anything Alice sent him.

So, Alice locks up her secret message in a box and secures with a padlock that only she has the key to. She sends it to Bob. Bob can't open it. What Bob does is take a second padlock of his own, any padlock, and lock it second time, say on a second clasp. He then sends it back to Alice. She unlocks her lock, then sends it back to Bob, who then unlocks his lock and retrieves her secret message.

Diffie-Hellman is the mathematical equivalent of that process. THe secret being sent is an assymetric encryption key that will be used to encrypt the actual real messages being sent. It would take too much computing time to do a Diffie-Hellman for every piece of info being sent.

It is almost certain now that the NSA has broken that process. It can open that key that Alice sends Bob. That's what they do out in Utah.

566 My wife's a good driver. No seriously, ex-SCCA National. But she has always had the annoying habit of looking over quick at her shift hand to check what gear she's in. Can't do any good, and it just drives me nuts. With that Aston, she'd need to get trifocals.

There are only a couple of mechanical engineering crews in the world up to the task of designing a 7-speed manual for a powerful engine. I'd guess ZF?

For as robust as US-made manuals were in the golden age, the big hold-up in getting 5-speeds was that no firm was willing to develop a shop for new designs. We kind of lost a generation there, because everything we had was "Good enough." That used to make me grind my teeth, because a smallish US sedan with a small-block V8 in those days was just crying out for one more gear.

Your only choices to improve matters were Laycock and Bendix, and people would look at you funny just for saying the names. Not as bad as asking for a Quaiffe cluster for your Sturmey-Archer, though...

Those stump-puller firsts are very common on modern minicars. Not all of them have a smooth move to second, either. Make me think bad thoughts about the designers' notion of one's driving needs.

Now, on a big truck, it's different. First could be way down in the corner, with two or three moves to the rest of the pattern, because you really were pulling stumps, or pulling a load up out of the hole. All the time in the world. Foot-long throw.

Studebaker had a 7-speed with every damn gear in a different spot on the pattern. Unscrew the engraved knob, and it was virtually theft-proof. Nobody could drive it away.

578 We all tend to think of cars and engine power and torque for speed and acceleration. Well, as a young man, I got to experience another side of that the didn't involve speed and acceleration. It involved moving a heavy load up hills. That was driving trucks. (Over)loaded farm trucks.

There you get to operate and engine for prolonged periods under WOT (wide open throttle) conditions. You are geared low, and that torque is being used to drag a heavy load up a hill.

Some of us would have our own sort of races with that. It was not speed. Oh no, you don't want to get too fast with a heavy load at all. It was to get up a steep hill with as much speed as possible, and see who would lag behind and who could make first or lose the least speed.

It's different than racing. But it's just as fun. And you get to hear and feel engines running WOT at max torque.

Your gearing is critical. But also the skill of the driver in knowing when to downshift and how.

My old Morris Minors had 4-speed transmissions, and first gear was a granny gear, and unsynchronized. It wasn't until years later that I learned that you were expected to start in second, except on steep hills. Which was why it was unsynchronized. VW's were the same way until 1961, for the same reason.

583 Bendix? Did they have a hand in the Warner gear overdrives?
I imagine it was the "invisible hand" of the engagement unit. But when I was coming up, every auxiliary overdrive was called a Bendix Unit by truckers. And every auxiliary gearbox was a Brownie-Box.

Those Crosleys were still built as marine engines until the 70's. Some versions claimed to be all stamped parts. Not even as much of what we'd call a "car engine" as Jeep's Go-Devils, but, pretty good motor for what they were. I think everybody, but especially performance drivers, ought to learn on something as comically underpowered as that. You really learn a lot, and you have a lot of time to think about it too.

You'd know, but others may not, that the Cooper Climax was a fire-pump engine when it started. What a lifetime that block had! Guy down the street used to rebuild odd factory motor equipment, and had a small airport snow-blower taken apart, complaining to me how long it took for parts to come in. The "Made in England" stamp kind of caught my eye, as it will. Darn if he didn't have Stirling Moss's Formula engine in his snowblower!

I understand they also were used to power truck reefer units for many years. I tore down one that came from a military genset. Said "Aerojet" on the block, but it was a Crosley engine. Four-ring pistons, on pistons that would be too small for a weed whacker. Forged crank, too.

587 So, w/r/t http://www.the-american-interest.com/ 2016/03/18/the-global-blue-model-crisis/ -- does anyone have any doubt that the growth of the IRA/401K private retirement scheme has its roots in public knowledge that the public/corporate pension schemes were bankrupt 30 years ago? Who didn't know that, and act accordingly?

And, now that these public/corporate deals are "going foom" right-and-left, what's the over/under on the day when IRA owners are going to be forced to turn their IRAs over for "public administration" or "pay a tax"?

Ah, rotary engines! Now there's an engine that needs lots of gears in the box. Huge horsepower at higher RPM, but little torque at low speed. I swapped a Mazda 12A engine and tranny into a Triumph TR7. If my friend still has the car, I'd buy it from him. It was a hoot to drive. Headers, we built them. Glow red hot, they would. That one car is probably responsible for 1/8 of the total global warming in the last 20 years of the 20th Century.

589 Meh, girl car. "A gaiety of Miatas."
(Kid has one with the "wrong" supercharger. Just loves the girl-car line.)

Publius you are sure right about truck-driving. Bill Vukovich was a farmer.
We used to really admire the skill of "Euc" drivers, who had to bring those big damn things up the long ramp roads out of quarries. I never worked in a strip mine, but they had really big trucks. And in my day sonny (I was 13) even the loaders were manual transmissions. Men shifted for their living.

Uh, no. 44 cubes, 24 horsepower, so 6 HP per cylinder. But the basic design was very strong. Cylinders and head cast en bloc, so no pesky head gasket leaks. You could probably supercharge the snot out of it. And make it rev to 9000 RPM.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at March 22, 2016 01:11 AM (/i7Ua)

593 Anyone who knew any basic math would know those pension schemes were going to blow up. They depended on unbounded exponential growth. Which isn't sustainable. Well, actually, it was even more than that. It depended on the even more unsustainability of two diverging exponentials. Basically, one is debt and the other is actual economic growth. That difference is itself an exponential.

The human mind just wants to think linearly and can't grasp the behavior of exponentials. There are a couple of common examples to illustrate the behavior, the "lily pads on the pond" and the "rice on the chessboard" parables.

The lesson is an that a runaway exponential is already too late before you know it. With linear growth, you can tell something is getting out of hand, and have time to stop it. With exponentials, it's too late before you notice it. The last chance mark occurs well before you see anything is wrong.

I have a '48 Crosley Panel Delivery with a running engine, which is a little tired. Burns oil, it does. Also have a complete, supposedly low-miles engine and tranny on a cart, pulled out to make a hot rod. Thinking, swap the spare into the car, see if it's as good as was advertised. If so, leave it there, overhaul the takeout, and use it to build a 5/8 scale T-bucket hot rod, with exposed engine, just to fuck with peoples' heads.

609 One thing that is going to come to and end, one way or another, is our current Western "retirement model". You work X years, then live for a decade or longer in retirement. As life spans get longer, that retirement period lasts longer and longer.

But what does that depend on. It depends on younger people keeping you up. You may protest that you'll love on your savings. That is true. But how does that work? You use your savings to buy the things you need to keep living without working for them yourselves. And what if there aren't enough people to make all the shit the retired people need to live?

That is the basic demographic crisis we are all facing. The Baby Boom was followed by a baby bust, with Western birthrates falling hard. It's too late. If everybody started making babies like crazy now, it would still be too late.

If you're wondering why Western govts seem so damn suicidal, wanting to import all these barbarian immigrants, well there's your answer.

Affirmative Suicide for Whites

Two "debaters" at the University of West Georgia argue that
White lives have not value and that if White people believed in fighting
for justice, they would kill themselves.

Is the University of West Georgia an historically black college? They must be really convinced that nobody takes them seriously.

The thing is that since the presidency of Barack Obama it is now necessary to take seriously the rantings of any black orator, no matter how deranged. They might get into a position where they can put their policies into practice.

As Bart Simpson said, "Cats are the Devil's handmaidens." The cat was doing that just to vex you. It is the same reason that they torture mice before they eat them. If your cat was big enough it would eat you, after torturing you for a while. As it is, eating your cookies it the best it can manage.

I can't watch her any more. There are long stretches where there might be a good guest, and she does a great interview, and then THAT sort of crap comes along. One would think people would have figured this out by now: she's a media darling - TO THE MSM! And what about that time where she had that friendly interview with Michael Moore where he got all creepy on her?

That being said, I DID happen to catch a short clip when she had Herman Cain on vs some jerk, and Herman read that guy the riot act like nobody's business. It was pretty awesome.

Yeah - the scroll on Fox news said something like, "Twin bombings at Brussels airport.....shots and Arabic shouts heard right be fore blasts...reason for explosions unknown..."

Can you imagine how much energy it takes to remain that ignorant of reality? I hope it was just PC news people and not Brussels authorities who claim the motives are unknown.

At least one of these blasts confirmed to be by a suicide bomber ... some yelling in Arabic just before the blast. Reports they found three suicide vests at the airport, so it could have been worse.

Yet our borders are still open, and Trump is too mean to the Muslim invaders/migrants that just want to share in your health care plan, so he must be Hitler or KKK, or just like Clinton, or something.

Get with the program!! The new thing is "or worse". They never really say what's worse than a batshit crazy liberal, or Hitler, but there was the one guy in here who seemed to be seriously claiming that Trump would "nuke Mecca", based on the fact that somebody somewhere who Trump has probably never heard of suggested it. He seemed to have no self-awareness at all that it was crazy talk.

And don't forget, he countered a joke about small hands with his own, so obviously he's not right in the head.

672 thx for the update optimizer ... yeah "or worse".

It seems to be "critical theory" of the left being applied to Trump, who has been consistent on fighting the globalists' export of our manufacturing, since at least 1990. Trump was praised in testimony to congress by R's and D's way back then, for his deep understanding. Now he is deemed a stupid poopy head by young bucks in Conservatism Inc.

Giuliani and many others think he would be much better than Cruz (at winning and governing), yet only the most extremist language about Trump AND his supporters is used now, by those demonstrating their true allegiance to ... to WHAT? To conservatism?

America First is what the founders believed ... these globalists are the enemy, not just the leftist Democrats. The globalists are "organized crime" at the highest level. These European bombings are a wake up call to one of the problems with their multi-culti plan to break down our western culture.
