Trump is definitely a very loose cannon, which in this cycle has been a major blessing and also a curse. And, yes, his record is very suspect.
But it's been a hell of a ride so far. And if he does become the next POTUS, people will be in for a huge disappointment if he does not come through on how incredibly fantastic things are going to be, as well as infuriated when he starts "making deals" with the Leviathan.

Grocery stores are scheduled to open today, with some restocking taking place over the weekend.
Roads in the community are semi-passible, but one section with about 750 residents still has untouched roads.
If you remember from the other day, there was a scrunt on out NextDoor community website lamenting the idea of teenagers actually charging money for their labors to shovel out sidewalks and cars.
That post was removed by the author after a surprising number or other people bitchslapped her into next week about her unicorn loving universe.
Open bidding wars are breaking out to try and hire the few kids who are not yet exhausted from shoveling for twelve ours a day.
To try and put the amount of labor into perspective, from the edge of the plowed area of the street, there is at least five feet of compacted plowed snow between each car and freedom. And then there is the complete area on the other sides of the car which needs to be shoveled and carried up into the yard. Shovel by shovel.
It took four of us almost three hours to clear just two cars.

I am not quite sure why people are so put off by his "attacks." They're gamesmanship. I'm not saying anyone has to like it, but I also think it is way too early to dismiss the notion of a Trump/Cruz ticket.

I use a friend's 24" snowblower.
While I was able to open a single pathway down the sidewalks,there was too much, too compacted from plowing, and had to be moved too far for a common home snowblower to be effective.
I literally have a cube of snow with vertical sides in our tiny front yard that is sixteen foot deep by sixteen foot wide, and eight foot tall.
And when I say Cube, that is what it looks like from stacking the street snow higher and higher.

Javascript is different from Java. You can have java defeated and still have upwards of 30 or different sites serving up their little widgets and crap to your machine*, each with its own ability to slow down page loads, each with its own ability to introduce compromised javascript code as a result of their lack of security.
I am with Tim in GA. If you have the ability to choose a browser that can run a javascript blocker, do so. I choose Firefox with the noscript addon.

I realize a lot of people didn't like it. But it's not in any way out of character for Trump. It's how he rolls. And I suspect it was more of a response to something playing outside of public view, like Trump was strong-armed in a way that caused him to fire back stronger than it appeared he should.
I don't for a moment doubt lives are at stake here either. Threats can be made in a variety of ways. Envelopes with pictures. Documents, veiled threats of getting family involved, etc.
Would anyone really be shocked if we saw an assassination attempt or two during this next year?

While I'm amused by the proposed Tennessee law, I have a problem with this.
If you are required to go somewhere that restricts guns, sure, they're liable in case of problems deriving therefrom - but you are not required to go to any "gun-free zone" restaurant or theater. Don't like their policy? Just don't go there. Otherwise, you accept their rules and the dangers inherent.
The only places I can think of that one might be required to go without self-defense would be government offices. And you know what they say about fighting city hall.

The problem with NRO is that they have carried the fucking water for the Establishment for so long since the passing of William F. Buckley (pbuh) that freaking out over Trump - which if we are honest with each other, there is some legitimacy to having trepidations about him - just makes them look like crazed idjits.
Yes, Trump is worrisome. But he has tapped into the righteous anger and rage felt by the citizenry over the utter hijacking of our nation. And that cannot be dismissed.
At the same time, these same establishment assholes have a similar loathing for Ted Cruz because they perceive (and rightly) that he may very well take an axe to the New Deal/Great Society gravy train that has been goniffing our wealth and freedom over the past 50-100 years.
So, their protests sound a bit hollow. And I really respect many of the people who hitched their wagon to that joke of an issue, no matter the fact that I too have major misgivings for Trump - despite hoping against hope, perhaps against my better judgement, that he really can "make America great again."

Doesn't matter.. Trump will never be the nominee. Most people do not realize how hard it will be for someone pulling 30% of the votes in these primaries to get the nomination at the convention this time around. Ain't gonna happen.
Too many states have pushed themselves into the early dates that force delegates to be apportioned proportionally. Everyone in the pack will walk away with something.
And no one will have a majority. Trump could "win" Iowa and New Hampshire and still be only 2 or 3 delegates ahead of Cruz.

It let's the business owner know that by making the decision to create a gun free zone he has taken complete responsibility for the safety of everyone who has decided to frequent his establishment by posting that sign. It doesn't matter whether people carry or not. and I personally do not patronize a business that has a gun free sign on it if I can help it.
Now I do have some issues with compliance as I can foresee public Universities complaining and being let off the hook from the law.

While I understand the tension between property rights, liability for superseding, intervening acts, foreseeable intervening causes, and the right of self-defense, our society is replete with instances of legal liability or restrictions on public accommodations and their proprietors in the name of actual or invented constitutional rights.
The main difference here being that there requires an act of the "intervening" (albeit of a somewhat foreseeable nature at this point) variety to find liability in the gun free zone instance.
But when has tort law (product liability) not been the province of a state legislature to define?

We had a freak situation in the early 00's where a local high school basketball team, normally mediocre, ended up with 4 future D-1 B-ball players (and a 6th man who went on to star for the Green Bay Packers) on an already stacked team.
Everyone knew this was a temporary situation, 2 seasons and done. So they worked out a deal where our local team played a national schedule (mainly the big tournaments) for those 2 years (they ended up #3 in the nation the first year) and then returned to local league play.
It worked out for everyone involved. Nobody wanted to watch one team win every game 115-30 with their backups (!), which is what started happening before they switched to a national schedule.

That NYTimes article on Reagan was a disappointment.
Disappointing that he spent so much time trying to make a deal with Ford, who was a weak President after Nixon. Disappointing that he took Bush despite the slights Bush made during the campaign. Disappointing that it was 'on the rebound' type of thing where a romance goes bad and you immediately marry the second choice (never ends well). Disappointing that Bush would agree to a platform that was so different from the things he campaigned on.
And, knowing what we know now, and having learned more about George the HW, it was a disastrous decision for the long term.
And I don't remember much about Richard Allen, but if that article is indicative. . . well, it serves, yet again, to explain why common people hate Washington, D.C.

I'm guessing it won't. Beck isn't in the limelight so much anymore, and most of the LIVs won't even remember him. As far as conservatives go (vis a vis Beck,) I suspect most of them feel the same way I do: He was great for the first few years. Then he kinda went off the deep end, went a little nutso, and then the mask slipped a bit and he came off looking like he was just all about the money, etc. I don't hate Beck, or even think he's a moron. In fact, I still agree with 95% of what he says. But he's not a kingmaker anymore.

Take a look at some of his interviews from 1988. For such a long time span, he is remarkably consistent between then and now. Of course there are some positions that change over. Who has not on some issues. However, on those that appeal to his America first supporters, he has been pretty steady.
