6 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, January 25, 2016. On this day in 1996 Billy Bailey became the last person to be hanged in the US. And no, this murderer had nothing to do with the song which was published in 1902.

The so-called broken window policing is at the heart of this matter and I though De Comio had got rid of that right after he entered office.

In the article, it states, "During a PROP ticket blitz in Park Slope last October, Gangi and a group of volunteers handed wrongdoers and scofflaws summonses along with pamphlets explaining their purpose. Recipients were informed they weren't really being penalized, but told, according to The New Yorker, that "you very well might have if you were in a different neighborhood and a person of color."

I hate to say it, but that last line is true. I'm all for equal ticketing for open alcohol containers, parking violations, loud music/boom box cars, etc. Selective enforcement based upon the neighborhood is, to me, criminal.

Shapiro didn't exactly take a flame thrower to Trump's record but he did point out the glaring flip flops that most with Trump fever tend to ignore. So credit where it's due.

Trump is definitely a very loose cannon, which in this cycle has been a major blessing and also a curse. And, yes, his record is very suspect.

Web designers have to protect (and justify) their phony baloney jobs!

When I was working, I saw how bad program instructions were written. It's like someone updates a program without ever personally testing the updates as the instructions never match what was on my computer screen. Then they come out with patches/more updates. 81 Beginning the third day of our community recovering from Snowmageddon.

Grocery stores are scheduled to open today, with some restocking taking place over the weekend.

Roads in the community are semi-passible, but one section with about 750 residents still has untouched roads.

If you remember from the other day, there was a scrunt on out NextDoor community website lamenting the idea of teenagers actually charging money for their labors to shovel out sidewalks and cars.
That post was removed by the author after a surprising number or other people bitchslapped her into next week about her unicorn loving universe.

Open bidding wars are breaking out to try and hire the few kids who are not yet exhausted from shoveling for twelve ours a day.

To try and put the amount of labor into perspective, from the edge of the plowed area of the street, there is at least five feet of compacted plowed snow between each car and freedom. And then there is the complete area on the other sides of the car which needs to be shoveled and carried up into the yard. Shovel by shovel.
It took four of us almost three hours to clear just two cars.

Other thing to remember is that the feud between the Bush/Establismentarians vs the Reaganite conservatives was much deeper, longer and bitterer than Trump and Cruz, which is merely a rivalry.

And yet Reagan picked pappy Bush as his running mate. Worst decision he ever made, but unification was on his mind. It was the best of times, but in the long run it morphed into the worst of times with the 4 administrations that followed him.

I use a friend's 24" snowblower.
While I was able to open a single pathway down the sidewalks, there was too much, too compacted from plowing, and had to be moved too far for a common home snowblower to be effective.

I literally have a cube of snow with vertical sides in our tiny front yard that is sixteen foot deep by sixteen foot wide, and eight foot tall.

The problem with NRO is that they have carried the fucking water for the Establishment for so long since the passing of William F. Buckley (pbuh) that freaking out over Trump - which if we are honest with each other, there is some legitimacy to having trepidations about him - just makes them look like crazed idjits.

Yes, Trump is worrisome. But he has tapped into the righteous anger and rage felt by the citizenry over the utter hijacking of our nation. And that cannot be dismissed.

At the same time, these same establishment assholes have a similar loathing for Ted Cruz because they perceive (and rightly) that he may very well take an axe to the New Deal/Great Society gravy train that has been goniffing our wealth and freedom over the past 50-100 years.

So, their protests sound a bit hollow. And I really respect many of the people who hitched their wagon to that joke of an issue, no matter the fact that I too have major misgivings for Trump - despite hoping against hope, perhaps against my better judgement, that he really can "make America great again."

Too many states have pushed themselves into the early dates that force delegates to be apportioned proportionally. Everyone in the pack will walk away with something.

As Mr. Levin has pointed out, Trump might have 30% of the polling but he is not at 50%. There are still significant numbers of people supporting candidates other than him.

158 Good morning all!

From this date in 1944- central Italy

Jan 25, 1944 - The EZ Dog Journal
34 advancing slowly. Mines and s/a holding them to a snails pace. 36 called a truce to pick up wounded across Rapido.
CEF advancing on Cairo. 10 Corps being hit heavily. VI Corps progressing with little opposition. About 10-12 miles inland.
Cool and cloudy. Slight rain.

34 = 34th Division
36 = 36th Division
CEF = French Expeditionary Corps
10 Corps = British 10th Corps

VI Corps = Anzio landing force, now at about the max extent of their beachhead, about to stall out (or pause to consolidate on the orders of Gen. Lucas), allowing German reinforcements to reach the front and bottle the Allies up.

Monte Cairo about 4.5 miles NNW of Monte Cassino (It's not clear if he is referencing the mountain or a small village at the foot of the mountain, also named Cairo.) CEF has advanced more than the rest of the front, still stymied at the Rapido and Cassino.

Someone ought to remind them of a little thing called Godwin's law and its corollary. In short, as discussions get longer, the probability of a Hitler comparison approaches 1. The corollary is that once the Hitler comparison is made, the side that made it has lost the argument and the discussion is over.

161 Re: Tennessee law.

While I understand the tension between property rights, liability for superseding, intervening acts, foreseeable intervening causes, and the right of self-defense, our society is replete with instances of legal liability or restrictions on public accommodations and their proprietors in the name of actual or invented constitutional rights.

The main difference here being that there requires an act of the "intervening" (albeit of a somewhat foreseeable nature at this point) variety to find liability in the gun free zone instance.

But when has tort law (product liability) not been the province of a state legislature to define?

We had a freak situation in the early 00's where a local high school basketball team, normally mediocre, ended up with 4 future D-1 B-ball players (and a 6th man who went on to star for the Green Bay Packers) on an already stacked team.

Everyone knew this was a temporary situation, 2 seasons and done. So they worked out a deal where our local team played a national schedule (mainly the big tournaments) for those 2 years (they ended up #3 in the nation the first year) and then returned to local league play.

It worked out for everyone involved. Nobody wanted to watch one team win every game 115-30 with their backups (!), which is what started happening before they switched to a national schedule.

210 Went to get that Poul Anderson story and was surprised that I already had it

That NYTimes article on Reagan was a disappointment.

Disappointing that he spent so much time trying to make a deal with Ford, who was a weak President after Nixon. Disappointing that he took Bush despite the slights Bush made during the campaign. Disappointing that it was 'on the rebound' type of thing where a romance goes bad and you immediately marry the second choice (never ends well). Disappointing that Bush would agree to a platform that was so different from the things he campaigned on.

And, knowing what we know now, and having learned more about George the HW, it was a disastrous decision for the long term.

And I don't remember much about Richard Allen, but if that article is indicative. . . well, it serves, yet again, to explain why common people hate Washington, D.C.

They expected the TX gov to commute his sentence to first degree murders and then for him to be released. eyeroll.

Initially, they said he had days to live. Then weeks, then months. It's been 22 months and he is still alive.

Same with Lynne Stewart. She was released from prison bc they claimed she had less than 18 months to live. The federal laws are pretty lenient. 18 months? During that time she attended lefty rallys. It now has been 25 months and she is still alive.

I'm guessing it won't. Beck isn't in the limelight so much anymore, and most of the LIVs won't even remember him. As far as conservatives go (vis a vis Beck,) I suspect most of them feel the same way I do: He was great for the first few years. Then he kinda went off the deep end, went a little nutso, and then the mask slipped a bit and he came off looking like he was just all about the money, etc. I don't hate Beck, or even think he's a moron. 252 That creepy Rutgers professor/SJW who had sex with a mentally disabled man (he can't speak or walk, and uses a diaper) was sentenced to 12 years. She'll have to register as a sex offender when she gets out of prison. Good to see the judge didn't fall for her line of BS. This so-called professor was using "facilitated communication" to communicate with the disabled man. FC is a sham; basically, the "facilitator" puts their hands over the disabled person's hands and types on a keyboard. Every time FC has been studied in an objective way, it has been shown that the only communication being done is by the facilitator. IOW, the person controlling the keyboard is the one doing the "talking." So this Rutgers pervert, who performed sex acts on a mentally retarded, diapered man, had not fallen in love with the man based on his communications; she had essentially fallen in love with herself -- because that's who was doing all the "talking."

297 Previous tennant had large wooden boxes with bird feed on the balcony. She even left me bags of feed. I threw it all out. I didnt want all those birds shitting eveywhere. They hung around a bit looking for food. Now, I am sorry I did it. Should have put the food somewhere else and still fed the birds. Had a dove lay a couple of eggs in a flower pot opposite my door. With great effort I tried not to disturb them but an effin blujay ate the eggs. Bastard!

298 When they tried to close the local Sriracha factory, people went nuts. Because it is so popular now, sriracha stock would be a good investment.

299 Bird seed.

Finches love thistle seed.

Ex girl friend like the birds

Now the lot is over run with thistles and the ex girlfriend is gone.

It would take roundup to clear the thistles. Meanwhile the neighbor's yard is full of dandelions.

I think every weed known to exist in the northern hemisphere, and every invasive plant ever to reach North America can be found in my yard.

So I'm planting trees. Trees to over shade the ground and the trees have every disease known to trees in the northern hemisphere.
