3 Good Morning Morons. Today is Friday, January 08, 2016. On this day in 1964 LBJ declared "War on Poverty" in the United States. He lost and we are still shoveling out billions. The only thing he succeeded in was to prove that socialism never works.

4 Latest batch of Scankles' emails reveal 66 that were classified including one stamped secret. We saw a few days ago one was stamped top secret. We also see with this batch that she knew they were classified and instructed her aid to send them via non-secure e-mail anyway. So she knowingly committed a felony for every one of these sent.

You don't need good credit either. You can qualify with a FICO credit score as low as 620, which is subprime. And you can put as little as 3% down.

I suspect the Real Conservatives who dominate one (smallish) corner of the MFM still see those who call for impeachment as being only slightly more repellent than Birfers. To the punditry, Choom Boy's endless string of felonies is perhaps regrettable, but for reasons of Good Optics must be tolerated.

I sometimes wonder exactly what it would take for the Chattering Class to wake up and join in the calls for the Mocha Messiah's removal from office. What would he have to do for them to realize that existing, legal remedies could stop the treason?

I only know I wouldn't want to see the event/executive order/policy change that would wake up the dead on Our Side.

Posted by: MrScribbler at January 08, 2016 07:11 AM (mIvL9)

67 Good morning all.

From this day in 1944 - central Italy

Jan 8, 1944 - The EZ Dog Journals
Clear and cold. British on Cedro. 34th took a number of smaller hills around Chiaia. SSF moving through the mountains north of Cervaro. Patrols active. Germans slowly pulling back. Arty from the other side started pouring in shortly after dark. Our Cub went up and adjusted on three batteries and shut them up. A few air bursts fell near the CP.

Cub = two-seater single-propeller observation plane
34th = 34th Infantry Division
SSF = Special Services Force

Yesterday I had a brain spasm wondering what 'TFA' stood for. The Great White Scotsman correctly pointed out that it stands for Task Force "A". Dad actually referenced it in the previous day's diary entry and I completely missed the connection. So I dug into it a little deeper and here's the scoop:

This phase of the campaign involved moving further up Highway 6 toward Monte Cassino. The NW end of this natural geographic corridor has three high points forming a natural line of defense, near the town of San Vittore.

From left to right the hills are Cedro Hill, Monte Porchia and Monte la Chiaia. The advance was a four-pronged movement. The US/Canadian SSF (trained in mountain warfare advanced through the mountains to the north in an end-around movement toward the town of Cervaro (behind Mt. Chiaia). The U.S. 34th Division took the town of San Vittore and Mt. Chiaia. U.S. Task Force A, consisting of the 6th Armored Inf Rgmt and the 48th Combat Engineer Bn (utilized largely as infantry here) took Mount Porchia in the center. The British 10 Corps took Cedro Hill on the left.

This combined engagement spanned the week of January 4-10, 1944.

Sorry for the length of this comment.

Here is a link to a more detailed account of this activity with maps for anyone who might be interested.

Meat is 'real food'. They don't mention the crap that passes for food as any problem, though. So load up in the snack aisle -- as long as you don't consume too much salt.

These government suggestions are completely asinine. Mankind developed larger brains because they devised tools, then they went out and killed tasty animals with those tools. Brains became larger over eons because they were well fed. Evolutionary biology is actual science, which we can learn from. Government nutritional guidelines are pseudo science. Like anthropomorphic global warming based on one single variable.

Yeah, but when the Powerball is at that level, you might as well. It's a small amount of money for an hour or so of daydreaming what you'd do with the money, and that's a fair entertainment value.

Governing:

A group of congressional cyclists is looking to get federal funding to build bikeshare programs across the country. The Bikeshare Transit Act introduced Thursday would pave the way for communities to invest in cycling as another form of transportation, along with cars, buses, and commuter trains.

This would promote a healthier and more environmentally friendly form of travel, say Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) and Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.), the two lawmakers behind the bipartisan legislation. "Bikeshare programs help people stay active, promote a clean environment and are good for the economy," Buchanan said.

WSJ - My 2016 Predictions - Karl Rove

If Mr. Trump is its standard-bearer, the GOP will lose the White House and the Senate, and its majority in the House will fall dramatically. If the nominee is Ted Cruz the situation is still dicey. Any of the other major candidates, if nominated, will best Mrs. Clinton in a close race and help the GOP narrowly keep the Senate.

Yes, Webb is in the wings, but I believe they are smacking themselves in the head for not realizing the potential of a pure celebrity. Webb can fill a meeting room at the Holiday Inn, but they need someone who can fill a stadium.

That's what worried them about Palin. People would wait for hours in the cold and rain to see her. Real people wouldn't cross the street to see Webb.

At best, he would as candidate, prevent a complete massacre in the Senate.

This grab from the Fox article on Scankle's emails looks like a smoking gun that she lied lied lied about never sending/receiving classified info via her private server:

In response to Clinton's request for a set of since-redacted talking points, Sullivan writes, "They say they've had issues sending secure fax. They're working on it." Clinton responds "If they can't, turn into nonpaper [with] no identifying heading and send nonsecure."

They are persuaded that I am male because for a long time I tried not to identify my gender because I didn't want to get into debates about people about the ordination of women or be told I'm a disgrace to biblical Christianity or something (both of which have happened numerous times on the internet)t. However, one night I was tired and referred to my husband as "he" and so I figured why not just go with what is actually the reality.

I quite understand people don't believe in the ordination of women but nobody is forcing anyone to come to the church I serve or have me as their pastor. People either agree with whatever theological points I make about following Christ or don't, and I generally post devotions from other people, not my own and nobody is forcing them to read those either. I assume many people don't. If it helps one person I am glad.

The reason why it bothered me a bit is because some people assume all women ministers are either leftists or gay or both. I'm neither.

Ultimately disappointing. They deleted the stepsister twin who was the most fun character in the book. Stepbrother twin suffered greatly without his foil. When I went to leave, the boyfriend found an excuse to follow me to the door and quietly said "Yo, you ever need any guns, call me. I can get you just about anything within an hour."

The overwhelming majority of them and/or their parents have cell phones or tablets that accommodate ebooks and large enough to read comfortably. Many libraries now have ebooks to download, though admittedly the selection isn't all that great and there are wait periods of the good ones. However there are tens of thousands of good books, many classics, that are available that have entered the public domain, many classics and all varieties, topics styles and reading levels through Project Gutenburg. So now I'm wondering if I also live in a book desert since the there is only one library in my immediate area and it is almost 1 mile form my house.

301 Not accurate. The Episcopal Church ordains women who are gay and men too but I know Episcopal clergy women who are not and I thought Schori was married.

Posted by: FenelonSpoke

Yes, I was being somewhat hyperbolic.

Mark Lawrence+ SC, lead a good conservative diocese and they ordained women, and TEC chased rhem out into ACNA.

Schori is straight, but the deep voice.

People are too quick to equate female ordination with liberalism, but there's understandable frustration with liberal leadership like TEC's.

319 People are too quick to equate female ordination with liberalism, but there's understandable frustration with liberal leadership like TEC's.

I understand your frustration since so many people in church history I admire and whose works I read are from the Anglican Tradition; John Wesley, George Herbert, and the ArchBishop who did all the prayers and who helped translate the KJV. I also tend to be a high church sort of person. I read the website for Conservative Episcopos- Faith Among the Ruins-or something like that. Sorry; lack of sleep.

The problem with so many of our churches is that so many clergy are really sort of post Christian and don't adhere to the beliefs that vowed to support-both male and female clergy. I'm guessing that if I went to a place that ordains women in the South or Midwest I might find a larger number of more theologically conservative women. That's probably where I belong.

Part of the post-Christian thing is the question to what degree faith is actually required if the form is followed?

Which on the face seems absurd, granted, but if one has the belief that - for example - 'demons tremble at the name of the Lord', then the name itself has the power, not the speaker of the name.

374 Been thinking about the "Stump for Trump" gals. Have followed their Yootoobs for quite a while, and seeing the reaction to them at a couple of Trump rallies, seems they're getting pretty popular. Regardless of their message, I get a kick out of their act.

But two things stand out.

One is, they do a great job of whipping up interest with serious-minded humor. Great Get Out the Vote stuff.

Two, they constantly pump their Ditch and Switch site, to encourage folks to sign up as Republicans, especially for the primaries. I know these aren't solid life-long Constitutional republican types they're talking to, just ad hoc Trump-ites, who will probably lose interest altogether (especially in the GOP) if Trump doesn't get the nom, but, still, they seem like the biggest Republican recruitment activity going. Wonder how successful they are.

376 One question that should have been asked is

"President Obama, you are rightly concerned about people buying hundreds of guns, loading them into a car, and then proceeding to sell them to thirteen year old kids.

So that we can follow up on this atrocity, and you tell us the cities and states where this happens, the names of the gun shops that sold these weapons, the names of the perpetrators, along with their court docket numbers, and the names of the prisons in which they are all currently residing.

Also have any of these perpetrators been released from prison before serving their full sentences?"

I agree. Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen are more like Tony Robbins than Billy Graham.

There is no cross on Osteen's stage, just a flame. Meyer has no symbols. Meyer and Osteen both talk about self-improvement (which is good, don't get me wrong), but they don't talk about eternal salvation through Jesus Christ.

Again, I am not knocking them, just noting the absence of the Gospel message. If they do something that brings people closer to God, I trust God will open their hearts to Christ.

390 According to the six-page indictment, Al Hardan was born in Iraq on Christmas Day, 1991, and entered the U.S. as a refugee around Nov. 2, 2009. He was granted permanent resident status about Aug. 22, 2011.
The indictment states that almost three years later, around May 2014, he "did unlawfully and knowingly attempt to provide material support and resources ... training, expert advice and assistance, to a foreign terrorist organization, namely the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant ... knowing that the organization is a designated foreign terrorist organization and knowing that ISIL engages in, and has engaged in terrorist activity and terrorism."
When applying for citizenship in August 2014, the indictment alleges that Al Hardan "represented that he was not in any way associated (either directly or indirectly) with a terrorist organization, whereas in truth, the defendant knew he associated...with a terrorist organization."
Then late last October, he allegedly covered up this association when he "participated in an interview" with Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations. When he was questioned about his application for naturalization, Al Hardan indicated "he had never received any type of weapons training" when in truth he had been trained "on an automatic machine gun," according to the indictment

This seems to be a program predicated on pure evil intent-

Basically, I'm thinking this means that minority kids without sufficient income can use their parent's home as collateral.

If a borrower fails on buying a home, sympathy level is low because they basically did it to themselves.

But-

If poor old long time house owner gets kicked out of their own house, because of some loophole (you know the progtards will use that term),

that the banks use to kick people out of their homes even after they've already paid the mortgage.

Well...

Then we as a society must prevent this-

so in the end we're all on the hook for in essence welfare home ownership.

Lovely.

But yes, you of the middle class still with jobs-

you keep on working for everyone else too lazy to work-

your plans hopes and dreams are nothing

Yeah, I dug that too.

Check out The Earthling Society for some similar goodness sometime.

On vinegar lasting forever: Yes and No. Small-time winemakers all too often end up with some vinegar by mistake. Hey, it happens. And some of it, as vinegar goes, ain't bad. There is a tendency to bottle the best of it and use it for cooking. (Tenderfoot: "And how do you know this, Mr Davis?")

That's OK, but if you use vinegar for its more serious purposes, for instance pickling and canning, be vewy careful. It's the acetic acid content that gives it its microbial moxie, and it's not super-simple to check acid content. If you use inadvertently weak homemade vinegar for food preservation, you could end up with a mild case of ptomaine, which only kills you a little.

454 I missed this on the ONT, but SCOAMF's lies about gun trusts really bothered me. I do trusts and estate work, including gun trusts, and nothing he said was true.

Gun trusts are set up to pass along Title II weapons; sawed off shotguns, fully automatic weapons, etc. Without a trust established prior to the licensed owner's death, the owner's family has only one legal option upon the owner's death: surrender the weapon to law enforcement immediately, at which point it will be destroyed. You might also remember that Title II weapons are no longer manufactured for civilians. What's out there is what's out there. So, short of a transfer of these weapons by a living owner, there is no way to pass these weapons along. Without these trusts, in about a generation you could see civilian Title II weapons almost completely disappear.

I still have and USE my Razr III, apparently they are coming out with a Razr flip\smart phone this year, if they do I might finally upgrade. I really don't need all the bullshit, I just want a reliable phone phone that's flip, be nice to have a few newer features, don't care if the screen is tiny due to flip.

Some Episcopal churches are actually conservative, too. I have an Episcopal priest for a neighbor a few houses down and he's theologically and culturally conservative. He and his family are very nice.

I was a member of a charismatic Episcopal church back in the early nineties when I lived in far east Dallas. It was a great church. After I moved away, it burned down, the priests died of old age, and the congregants scattered. A few are members of my neighbor's congregation.
