4 Good Morning Morons. Today is Monday, September 07, 2015 and Labor Day. On this day in 1876 in Northfield, Minnesota, the James-Younger Gang attempted to rob the town's bank but were driven off by armed citizens. In those days there was no deposit insurance and if a bank was robbed the depositors lost all the money they had there. So yes, they had a dog in that hunt.

8 That KY county clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay same-sex couples has appealed her arrest. I don't understand why her lawyer is not appealing based on the fact she was simply following the law which I posted yesterday. Same sex marriage is illegal in KY and that law is still on the books.

What will he do when contractors finally decide that a federal contract is too much trouble?

And how is it that he can alter federal contracts at his whim?

A British father and his wife have made a desperate appeal to find their son after their new-born baby was allegedly swapped with another child in an El Salvador hospital, it was reported on Monday.

Richard Cushworth and his Salvadoran wife Mercedes Casanellas travelled to the country in May to have their baby in his mother's homeland. But after returning to their home, in the United States, they eventually decided to have a DNA test after noticing that the baby didn't look like either of the parents - and discovered that the child wasn't theirs.

The couple now fear their light-skinned baby was snatched deliberately by staff at the exclusive Ginecologico private hospital in the country's capital San Salvador to sell to child traffickers.

Good news every Juan!:

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals granted asylum to an undocumented trans Mexican woman last week in a landmark decision for asylum seekers reports The Advocate.

The Board of Immigration Appeals initially denied trans Mexican Edin Carey Avandano-Hernandez;s immigration request on the basis that her felony drunk driving conviction invalidated her appeal for asylum.

3 judges on the panel granted Avandano-Hernandez's request and condemned U.S. Immigration officials and the immigration judge in the first case on their transphobic treatment of Avandano-Hernandez.

I watched him say that on Meet the Press. He went on to say we could absolutely verify whether or not follows the terms, and the international pressure if they were to violate it by developing a nuke and using it would be so terrible the day after they launched, that Iran would never do it. Right after that, he went on to explain how the intelligence was faulty in the lead up the Iraq war and how he wouldn't have gone in if he had known. He also said you had to be careful destabilizing countries with cultures that have been around for a thousand years because they are not like us and will react differently. Ummm, so why doesn't that same logic apply to nuclear treaties? Chuck Todd just nodded along sagely. I nearly fell off the treadmill at the gym. Oh yeah, that's the only reason I watched it. I couldn't change the channel.

We just plain need a moratorium on immigration for at least 25 years. Second, we should always look to place refugees in comparable countries (ie put muslims in muslim countries). If we do take refugees it should be a hard cap. Let's say 250,000 total. When we have that many, we don't take anymore until the same number leave. And any of their kids born here are not citizens. Also, the refugees should be housed in centers and not put in with the general population.

66 I do tend to think Trump would outdraw blacks and hispanics conpared to Romney

IMO minorities are less likely to vote for inhuman doilies. They see the fake robotic blandness of Republican candidates the same way that faces just less realistic than a human face are viewed: with horror and mistrust.

While the artificiality of Trump's head is an open debate (I favor the idea it is a complicated three-part combover), he is more human than say a Marco Rubio or a Mitt Romney or a Jebutron v3.00. I think humanity is how you connect with minorities, not lip service and strict adherence to politically correct guidelines.

The RNC playbook for the perfect candidate produces the perfect loser.

They are illegal to own in the city, yet hundreds will show up for unchallenged rides down some of the largest streets and boulevards of the city, and be unchallenged by the Baltimore Police.

There has been demands for years that the city fund and build a dirt bike park in order for the underemployed youth of the city may ride in a safe environment, and have something to do with their time and energies.

Interestingly, there isn't a single public firearms range within city limits either.

Not judging, just sayin'

I don't know why so many think that. Gulf War I was a UN operation, with the US being the largest contributor of military might. It was the UN which called a halt to things after the Highway of Death, and the US acceded to their demand. It's debatable whether we should have involved the UN at all, but Bush I was a globalist and did so. But the UN has never met a dictator it couldn't prop up and use, so they saw their opening and stopped Gulf War I, leaving Saddam in power (with the UN later using Saddam in their Oil-For-Food scam).

Peed on a wasp's nest, got stung on genitals. Painful laugh! (Didn't read the "why I like them" half, just the funny first part.)

Every summer, many wasps will get in this hundred-year-old concrete barn we call our house. They get in somewhere, somehow, despite all the holes I've plugged. (How bad is it? Leaving the front screen door ajar for the pets to get in and out hasn't really affected the inside-wasp numbers much.)

Family and friends know not to panic when there's a wasp buzzing around the room. Unprovoked, ordinary wasps ignore us. When someone doesn't know to just be quiet, it's cruelly amusing to see them get up, panicked, running around, and, yes, zap! getting stung. Every. Time.

Wasps are smart. I stupidly reached into an old broken gas light one day, and a resident mud dauber building a nest in there let me know my hand was in the wrong place by just touching me with the stinger - not really stung, no poison. I was impressed. And suddenly wiser.

Good thing I didn't pee in it!

157 So, constitutional or not, the Kentucky marriage laws can't be changed until the legislature is in session. Constitutional or not, the clerk cannot be impeached until the legislature is in session. And, constitutional or not, the law change that the clerk called for to repair the conscience issue cannot be introduced until the legislature is in session.

Part-time legislatures are a good thing, but the concept does not seem to be working for Kentucky (or that clerk of courts) in this case. And, our national part-time legislature empowers recess appointments and pen-and-phone deals.

Imagine the mischief you could cause in Texas with something like this.

Bluebird of Bitterness lifts this collection of images from the Daily Mail, but you'd rather see the pix on BoB's site than DM, right?

Weep for the current generation - no power to the brains.

~~~also~~~
A new group can join the school kids using #thanksMichelleObama as a bitter hashtag. The kids were merely Tweeting pictures of unappetizing and skimpy school lunches conforming to her anti-obesity program. The newcomers to the hashtag will be unemployed school cafeteria workers, laid off because kids refuse to buy the tasteless fare.
165 I think I'm going to stop judging ordinary people as to their party affiliation. Party affiliation is fairly meaningless now. The top guys do what they want, no matter how the people vote. The guys in office don't take a stand on matters according to party affiliation or party platform.. Why should we?
There are no longer two parties. There is Them, and there is Us.
So if a person aligns with a party out of past preference, or family habit, or whatever, I'm going to stop holding it against them. It doesn't matter how they vote. The results are still the same. Democrat, Republican - it makes no nevermind. Whatever you pick, we're all going to end up at the same spot.
183 Saw the ONT last night discussed the movie-
"No Escape"
I saw "No Escape" last week and I can honestly say-
it is the best or certainly one of the best action thrillers I've seen in a long time.
The story concerns an engineer who after his business has failed has gotten a job with an international company in a third/fourth world SE Asia nation.
He brings his family along to start their new life and is almost instantly caught up in a violent revolution where they are killing the political opposition and foreigners in the street.
The story is how he tries to get his family to safety using not superhuman physical abilities or suddenly becomes a killing' machine, but-
adapting to circumstances and figuring out the best way out of or around some very bad situations.
You know, like you might do if caught in the same situation.
The movie's action is very intense, very realistic and you are totally caught up in the story.
And no, it is not the least bit racist. AT. ALL.
I give it my highest recommendation.
Okay, so Social Justice Wankers have gotten their panties in a wad-
apparently over the fact that this 3rd world nation - is having a violent, xenophobic revolution-
where people are executed in the streets, chopped with machetes etc.
Not that violent revolutions ever happen in third world countries, and murder and violence never ever happen in these paradises.
Pretty much every scene in "No Escape" has a real life analogue if you've read the news, even a tiny bit, over the last twenty years in India, Tunisia, Africa, Burma, etc etc etc.
The criticism of "No Escape" is profoundly stupid and grounded in ignorance and wistful white guilt dreamcasting.
Don't listen to it.
Go see "No Escape" because it is a very well-made, tense and thrilling time at the movies.
Check it out.
No guarantee there either. Thing about a world war is, one side is supposed to win. Then you get some change in the "world order," good or not. Too evenly matched, and the war just peters out, setting up the next one. "Negotiated settlement."
Absent the US, the world looks pretty evenly matched right now. Like Europe in 1916. At this point, the optimists are hoping for German and Japanese domination.
That's because the Dims have since Billy Jeff and Madeline Albright (along with the Euros)have been pursuing a
With the US out as number one and reassigned as one of many equals within our North America Sphere of Influence.
I think the difference is, if you register as a Democrat, you have a harder time making the case that you didn't know the evil your Party has been up to for the past, at least, 40+ years.
Republicans, on the other hand, as recently as the 2014 election could still be making the case that their Party holds the same values as they do.
Some people who STILL identify as Republicans may not yet have grasped just how lost and evil their Party has become. One could forgive them their ignorance.
It is much harder, however, to forgive the ignorance of Democrat voters who keep pretending their Party is working for what is good and right.
It's not about rejecting humans for their labels. It's about being critical of those who CHOOSE not to accept what is being done in THEIR name, by they Parties with which they choose to associate.
Find them jobs. Fill your hearts and your home with refugees.
It is only fair. Without your union backing you, you would be as desperate as they are, begging for help from hard hearted people who turn them away at the borders. Interestingly, Kim Davis has been divorced three times. Sometime after the third divorce, she became "religious".
I have to agree with HRC here. She took an oath to uphold her office. The existing KY law was declared invalid by the Supreme court and she cannot pick and choose which licenses to issue based on her religious or personal beliefs.
For example, this was why "Shall Issue" laws were created for Conceal Carry permits, because gun boards and law enforcement officials were using too much personal bias and discretion over issuing permits.
We don't want personal bias to be applied in issuing govt. permits. If you get right down to it, the issue is govt permits, not Kim Davis' relilgious beliefs.
If we had less govt interference, Kim could practice her religion freely, along with the rest of us.
Posted by: OregonMuse at September 07, 2015 10:58 AM (S+LWk)
He wasn't immediately cut. The other player competing for the 3rd was traded first, giving an impression that he may have earned it, then he was cut the following day.
232 I'm a Tebow fan, and am still clinging to hope that he gets picked up somewhere (at this point, I wouldn't even mind if he went to the CFL, like Doug Flutie, another guy the NFL couldn't find a spot for until he dominated up North), but I can understand teams not wanting him as a backup. The conventional wisdom/ reasoning is that he's a very specific type of player, and to best serve him you'd need an offense designed around his skills, but unless your other two QB's are similar type players (they are not), then you'd need to revamp your entire offensive scheme if/when Tebow was called on.
Posted by: Insomniac at September 07, 2015 11:07 AM (FGIR8)
234 As a Eagles fan I'll take that question.
A few things could lead to that conclusion. A player while performing well might not fit into a program like a qb who is a runner in a predominantly passing offensive. A player who likes to be front man maybe the coach likes "team" player. A player could be bringing personal baggage along that a coach will not except such as Vick but Reid did take on. That the Birds are going to need another qb to me is a no brainer but a coach might think only two ab's are needed for at least the immediate future. Why Chip does what he does is a good mystery to me and virtually every other fan and sportscaster.
235 IIRC the Iggles only have 2 QB's now. I hope they find themselves in a pickle over that decision real soon.
If they pick a different guy as their third QB, that'll pretty much convince me that the fix was in and that they used Tebow only as a publicity stunt.
This was more likely personal. Not having been in the locker room though, I have no way of knowing that. I just know human nature being what it is, too many egos generally means decisions getting made for reasons other than what is best for the team.
Yep, he's a running QB and I've heard more than one defensive player say he wouldn't want to be hit by Tebow. He's a big dude and IIRC, the Gators originally had him as a running back for that reason.
If I were a coach, I'd build an offense around him and find other QB's who liked to scramble around if they get flushed out of the pocket. Good things could happen to a team that decided to do that. But I suppose in a league where the players are all pretty much interchangeable, that's not going to happen.
So the other question is, Chip, you had a guy in camp who was working in your system, showing progress. When you bring in another guy to be your 3rd string QB, and you WILL bring in another guy, does it make more sense to you to get a guy who has NO experience in your system?
Really? Mr. You Mere Mortals Could Not Possibly Understand My Genius?
Tebow is an NFL-level athlete, he's proven that in Denver, but the other guys on the field might have just been camp bodies, as often happens in the 4th game. I am surprised they traded Barkley and then released TT, with no third QB option. Still a lot of signing going on among free agents, maybe he'll catch on somewhere. If not, I wish he'd seriously consider the CFL.
Fair enough, except it depends on what you mean by "committee." Essentially, every successful NFL team operates with a complex system of assistant coaches and coordinators. The head coach is the general, but he damn well better be listening to his colonels and captains. If not, he gets lost.
See Harbaugh, Jim. And countless others who could not successfully make the transition from college to pros.
I was just a receptionist for a good while and you don't only deal with the public, you also wind up being the knowledge sink for the whole unit since EVERYONE comes to you for information. Secretaries do that and make the office go round.
The menial positions are what keep people fed, and clean, and in sheets and printer paper and toner, and in really rarified offices, they are also the ones that make sure the brains run on time.
Some d**Ckhead that runs a secretary down should do his own supplies and deal with written meeting requests and scheduling personally.
Naw, they'd just find some other reason to delegitimize her views.
The Left has been lecturing us for the past year that gender is fluid, that regardless of your biological sex one can be a multitude of genders that are fluid/changing from one day to the next.
That they find someone's religious conversions is just a prime example of that everything they say is bullsh#t, just whatever it takes to implement their agenda.
*Exit question: What about the mass murder on death row who has a religious conversion during the decades it takes to execute him/her, does the Left not honor that major religious/moral awakening?
306 If I were a coach, I'd build an offense around him and find other QB's who liked to scramble around if they get flushed out of the pocket. Good things could happen to a team that decided to do that. But I suppose in a league where the players are all pretty much interchangeable, that's not going to happen.
Persecution: it doesn't always involve lions.
Note, Rich Gannon originally came out of a running offense in College, and in fact was drafted in the 4th round with the thought of converting him to RB.
He bounced around the league a bit... took a few years... but eventually had great success, and set a few records, playing with the Oakland Raiders in a semi West Coast offense.
I see that as two different things. Conversion can happen as a initial event., i.e., claiming Jesus as Lord and identifying as a Christian. The process of being conformed to the image of a Christ is a lifetime process. I'm trying to clarify your thoughts of this. You're saying it's not acceptable for her to be opposed to gay marriage because she suddenly became a Christian rather than being one for years?
I guess not. I have to go back to the ever-popular Lazy Coach Theorem: they're not going to change an offense that can accommodate some QB picked off the street if they need to.
TT would require a bit of tooling, but not enough to hurt. If I were coach, I'd at least use him in short yardage situations. I can remember when the NFL liked QB's who could scramble and take advantage of busted plays.
*sigh* I miss the old days...
328 Racist hate language from a Carson supporter:
Sometimes, however, these citations of Carson's biography can have an implicit - or not so implicit - racial undertone. "He would be a wonderful role model for everyone, especially for the black people," 72-year-old Peggy Kemmerly of Elongee said. "You know, to get them off entitlements. He could open doors. Well, doors have been opened for them, but unfortunately they haven't accessed them." And Kolar said that he hoped Carson "removes the hyphen in African-American to identify as "just American, to heal the racial divide we've been forced into."
And the arm. I'd draw up a play where he lines up at TE in a screen, gets a short pass, then throws to an open receiver. Sort of an expanded Wishbone play, if you will.
If the defense sniffed that one out, just have him run a regular screen. It ain't rocket surgery.
