Society used to impose norms, such as mourning periods. Now, victims of violent crime are being bullied into "forgiveness, moving over it/getting on withit/ making it a positive experience [WTF] the sorry list goes on.
The trend toward the disposibility of life, all life, is being accelerated. That i don't agree with or encourage.
I'd surmise also that during the time period involving your friend's decline and death, their marriage transformed to a caretaker relationship. In a ay, his period of mourning started long before she died.

91 Here's a new business idea to be marketed to ultra-high net worth individuals and corporations. I'd be interested in any feedback.

Killing/Torture Service (KTS)

Although kidnapping and recovery (K&R) insurance is available to the wealthy, it does little to prevent the crime or to exact revenge after a ransom has been paid.

KTS would kill anyone involved in a kidnapping that ended with the victim being unharmed, or torture and kill anyone involved in a kidnapping that resulted in harm to the victim.

Wealthy families could make it known that they are covered by KTS services or choose to keep their participation secret, depending on how they view their threat situation and preferred method of resolution.

K & R insurance covers ransom and expenses involved in recovery, but does nothing after the fact. Families and corporations who want closure on a kidnapping, no matter how long the process takes, could be assured that the criminals have been dealt with.

KTS would maintain a non-disclosed facility and personnel trained to perform the services. Clients would pay an initial fee plus a yearly maintenance charge per covered individual. KTS would make the names of covered clients who wish to be known available on their website.

Initial cost per entity (corporate or family) would be in the $4 million range with yearly maintenance fees of $100K per individual.

Sound like a good concept?

Depends on the client.

Some people would want their names known upfront to scare off any kidnappers. Others will pay the K&R insurance and just want revenge after their victim is recovered.

100 In a development that has largely been missed by mainstream media, the Pentagon early last month quietly declassified a Department of Defense top-secret document detailing Israel's nuclear program, a highly covert topic that Israel has never formally announced to avoid a regional nuclear arms race, and which the US until now has respected by remaining silent.

But by publishing the declassified document from 1987, the US reportedly breached the silent agreement to keep quiet on Israel's nuclear powers for the first time ever, detailing the nuclear program in great depth.

The timing of the revelation is highly suspect, given that it came as tensions spiraled out of control between Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama ahead of Netanyahu's March 3 address in Congress, in which he warned against the dangers of Iran's nuclear program and how the deal being formed on that program leaves the Islamic regime with nuclear breakout capabilities.

Another highly suspicious aspect of the document is that while the Pentagon saw fit to declassify sections on Israel's sensitive nuclear program, it kept sections on Italy, France, West Germany and other NATO countries classified, with those sections blocked out in the document.
