19 Very nice landscape.
I have photographs that are similar, somewhat, kinda. Well they are pictures of trees in the fall.

Not to say that taking a picture with your iPhone is as artistic as putting brush and pigment to canvas.

Ok, never mind.

31 Very nice painting. You are definitely learned in the Frederick Church/Thomas Cole method of landscape painting. I am impressed.

In college, I worked summers as a nightwatchmen at Olana, the home of Frederick Church, and was able to learn a lot about the Hudson River School by going through the collections that were both on display and kept in cold storage. Great works of art.

70 From the sidebar: "Early Onset Clinton Fatigue."

It is something I touched on yesterday. a Hillary! Administration would be Year 9 of the Clinton Administration. There is a good reason why second term administrations fail around Year 6 - they're tired.

The enthusiasm and energy that propelled everyone has now been exhausted fighting against, well, everything. The scandals are starting to crop up, the benefit of the doubt can't be assumed any longer. The greatest partisans are now burned out and just going through the motions. The replacements have none of the fire of the early believers.

Too bad for Hillary! but she is the third term and no one really can generate what is needed to push her onwards.

It is sort of like the Kubler-Ross stages of grief, but for politics:

Enthusiasm, Energy, Determination, Desperation, Meh.

Hillary! and her followers are in Meh now.

They're firmly in "desperation" at this point - witness all of the reactions to any criticisms he receives - they go spastic at any. They aren't laughing it off like Robert Gibbs used to, they aren't confident and enthusiastic. They don't have the energy or even dogged stubbornness - they're flailing hysterically at any foes - they're in desperation. In another year they will hit "meh" and that will be it.

Going form the "Lightbringer" of 2008 with all of the adulation and worship to, in another year, quietly looking forward to it all ending.

223 Well, they have already removed the priority points you use to be
able to get with your CC. They have put back blackout dates and they
have reduced the number of priority categories to three.

I suspect my million points won't transfer nor will my priority, which means hours on the phone.

I use FF miles, and corporate pensions, as examples to my boys: do everything cash and carry, insofar as possible. Never do anything now based on a promise of jam tomorrow, because it's so easy for the promise-giver to renege: he can unilaterally change the deal, he can declare bankruptcy, or a new guy can come in and claim he knows nothing about your deal and/or isn't bound by it. You've done your part of the deal, and now he has no incentive to perform his part of the deal unless he feels like it.

You can't always avoid these situations, but I told them it's important NOT to allow such promises to influence their decision-making.

Classic example: a friend of mine in academia stuck it out at a place he hated, because if he put in N years there, they promised they'd give his kids free tuition - if they were accepted. Yup, you got it: they effectively don't accept faculty members' kids. Why give away $100,000-$200,000 per kid? What's the guy going to do, take back his N years of service?

I like the TV treatment of 12 Monkeys. It's fleshed out a little bit better and makes more sense than the flick (which they showed on cable a few weeks back, coincidentally).

It's almost turning into a love story.

I'd put forward the example of The Odd Couple, which, as a series, stands very well in its own right, even if not better than the movie (or original Neil Simon play).

And I consider The Addams Family series to be much better than the movies.

As far as I knew the building was going to become part of the Corcoran School, which would still exist, and the collection itself would be absorbed by the National Gallery of Art.

This is what it says at the NGA site:

The Corcoran galleries are now closed. The National Gallery of Art will renovate the second-floor gallery spaces of the 17th Street Flagg building, where it will present special exhibitions of modern and contemporary art as well as important works from the Corcoran collection. A date for opening will be set in the coming months.

The George Washington University Corcoran School of the Arts and Design remains open during this time.

IMO, even 27 is too old to play (convincingly) a wide-eyed teenage boy who's never had sex.

It just always rang false to me to see this obviously not young actor hugging his teddy bear and pretending to be a kid. They should have just re-written the role for an older man -- a 40 year old virgin, or something, still could have been funny.

I don't know if it's on Netflix, but there is a double-DVD release of the original Night Stalker TV movie along with its sequel, The Night Strangler, which takes place in Seattle and concerns a series of murders occurring every 21 years. Unfortunately, Strangler is not included in the "complete" DVD release of the series, so you have to buy it separately.
