During the filming of 1956s Giant, Rock Hudson was especially nervous. Although one of Hollywood's most popular stars, he was also considered to be one of its worst actors, and his role - as wealthy rancherBick Benedict - was a chance to prove everyone wrong.

Elizabeth Taylor came to the rescue, with a little Method acting. If she and Hudson were supposed to be "movie" husband and wife, then they should hang out as much as possible off the set. And so they did, drinking and partying together, and basically spending nearly every moment of every day together. Even after filming on Giant moved off location to LA, Taylor and Hudson were like two peas in a pod, capping off one drinking marathon by hitting a string of Mexican restaurants, then challenging each other to a belching and farting contest (Taylor won).

Of course, all of this togetherness sparked rumors that Taylor and Hudson were an item, especially as La Liz was engaged in massive fights with her current husband Michael Wilding. But Hudson's own romantic proclivities were causing problems. Publicly, he was dating a woman named Phyllis Gates, the secretary of his agent, Henry Willson, and was being pressured to propose, especially by Willson himself. It seems that Willson had found out that Confidential magazine was offering $10,000 to two of Hudson's former (male) lovers if they'd come forward, and Willson was desperate to hold on to his meal ticket.

Came October 3. Life magazine ran a cover story on Hudson entitled "The Simple Life of a Busy Bachelor." In the opening was this damning sentence: "Fans are urging twenty-nine-year-old Hudson to get married - or explain why not."

That was it for Willson. Marry Gates or else, he ordered. And so Hudson did.

Henderson is a city Southeast of Vegas that is mostly nice. It also has a completely Dem city council and mayorship (ironically enough, the less Dem city of Las Vegas is 4D-2R-1I, and even North Las Vegas has GOP council members and one of th last Blue Dogs as Mayor (he was defeated in a state Senate primary by a Black Lesbian "preacher" and social activist).

If you want a MacAir with greater then basic RAM for example, they will usually have to order it.
Apple Online allows you to configure and order for pick-up at an Apple Store that you chose.

197 Almost all of our cats over the past two decades came to us, mostly dumped in the country and grateful to be taken in, some born here in unpreventable litters. Great affection for each and every one of the dozens we've cared for.

We have had outdoor-only cats, but none has been strictly indoor. We've had cats come home with battle scars, one with a broken leg, a few out of the dozens that didn't come home. Owls & hawks, possum & raccoon, cat stupidity - they've got enemies aplenty in the Outside. One dear feral cat (outdoor only) I thought I heard (can still hear) his death-scream, over the wall in the woods. I notice the ones that stay up close to the house and don't wander far afield tend to live longer with fewer scars. All quite Darwinian. I can see keeping the shedding little disease balls out of the house, but can't imagine confining a cat to the indoors. In the city, sure, but not with all this country around us.

I suppose we were lax in proper concern for diseases, though, or, just added that threat to the whole stew of threats in living. Whether brought in by pets or met directly in the yard, the outside abounds with that which is out to kill us. I shrug, scratch, and go on, but some folks even get phobic about the outdoors, I've heard. Like "Islamophobia," begs the question, are you still paranoid if they really are out to get you?
