6 Good Morning Morons. Today is Saturday, February 07, 2015. On this day in 1935 the game Monopoly was invented in it's current form by the Parker Brothers. It actually has origins that go all the way back to 1903. What is amazing is that it is still going strong.

I hate it when I open a tab in the background and a few seconds later some salesman is yelling at me. I'm on the tablet. FUD is the best material available. That said, you might still get lines depending upon how the file is oriented, and on what axis, etc.

Also, the smaller the scale, the more evident the lines, but then again you won't really notice it from a normal viewing distance.

It's one of the quirks of the process, but in order to get something otherwise unavailable you deal with i.

N/Nn3 is Pennsy/East Broad Top/ Path Valley RR (Newport and Sherman's Valley/Perry County RR proposed extension that never was), I also have two modules in Burlington and now the Z scale which is in Nickel Plate livery. Late steam/early diesel; my diesels are SD/GP7 and E-7 (one GP18 which is actually too new but it's a nice little unit). I also built a layout for Model Railroad Hobbyist's $500 challenge that isn't done yet, a rock quarry set in the late 1800 to early 1900 time frame (Atlas 4-4-0 locos are way better than the old B-man 4-4-0's).

92 Nice.

I love 4-4-0s with a passion, but I like the older woodburners, particularly the ones from 1850 or so, which no one makes and are too small to make from a later model. most of the folks that want one improve an old mantua General, but it has a couple proportion problems that make it irredeemably toylike in my eyes. It looks like I am going to have to scratchbuild if I want one.

I have a rule about not shooting them in the living area. To please the women & children. Just over the wall in the pasture, fair game.

Interchange is a time honored practice. The railroads charge a fee for "foreign" rolling stock; the CN or CP cars you see were probably loaded with goods made in Canada to be shipped to a destination far south and when emptied they will be loaded for something headed back to Canada.

My 2¢ worth of train trivia.

Dad had a small O gauge set-up in the basement, but by the time I was old enough to enjoy it, the family was falling apart, and I didn't get to fully appreciate it. Wonder whatever happened to all Dad's trainboard stuff.

I got to play with a friends HO-scale set-up, though.

Never got a home with a trainboard for myself. One of those things you think you'll easily be able to have as an adult. Heh. No.

But here at the ranch, half a mile away, the full-scale trains rumble by every night. Just far enough away that the rumble and whistling are pleasant, not disturbing. That, to me, is life as it should be.

140 Kilroy was here

Afghanistan War Hero Stripped of Silver Star
Feature: Army Major Matt Golsteyn betrayed by cowardly leaders
Aaron MacLean, Free Beacon, 2-6-16
http://tinyurl.com/pjc23h8

"The Army's never wrong" -- soldiers bitterly told themselves while suffering each fubar during WWII.

That was then, this is now?

The charge against Golsteyn was bogus: it is criminal to kill the enemy in combat: flogging Bush's "Karzai" Rules of Engagement dead horse. The bogey-phantom distraction identified the enemy-Taliban as undeserving death in combat in order to cover the US Military order of US Military personnel to wear the Afghan uniform in combat. Did Aaron MacLean see that bogey, but held genug in his article?

The Brass by ordering US Military personnel into combat wearing Afghan uniforms broke international law. Evidently, all special forces actions will, in detail, eventually be used against special forces personnel when it serves corporatist-Brass interests to distance themselves from their own orders and goals. Special Forces do the dirtiest work, after all, "I was following orders," leaving them the easiest scapegoats for sacrifice on the dishonorable altar of military-corporate careerism. Nothing to see, move along. Just remember how horribly all things became (whether Germany, Italy) before the realists within attempted to decapitate their Head. (Japan in ruins was unique by code of honor: failed military leaders often took-sacrificed their own lives to prevent dishonoring the Emperor). Not only was Germany turned to rubble, starvation and death, but most of the world alongside suffered the carnage of authoritarian gluttony -- lust for monopoly did not "end" in 1945.

Update of MacLean requires deep breath.

Most Americans look at Golsteyn's record and recognize a worthy hero to his service. However, the insulated headmen who never share Goldsteyn's risks but order Golsteyn (US Forces) into hell to defeat demons (simultaneously supplying/training the same demonic opposition), this Brass whose pompous facade requires destruction of honesty, honesty threatening their never ending war profit income through blood spilling, of course these headmen traitors to the US Constitution will hurl hollow innuendoes at Golsteyn, in order to erase reality as a delusion, that Golsteyn's victorious emergence from hell saved his men from destruction while achieving successful execution of orders in battle plan. Washingtonian arm chair Brass, weighed by their own dishonorable leadership compounded by their insane "strategery" now publicly target Golsteyn in a manner that allows Golsteyn to mount no case on his own behalf. "Unworthy of loyalty" fails full disclosure given traitorous villainy ruling the United States of America.

Another one here. My basement layout is O gauge, 25 feet by 15 feet, running many if the Lionel engines and rolling stock I received in the 50's. Also run some newer Lionel Railsounds engines as well as some MTH. The Northern 4-8-4's are my favorite. Many of the structures on my layout are scratch built, including the roundhouse and turntable. A nice way to relax! Of course, my wife thinks I'm nuts, but after 42 years she's resigned herself to the fact that I'm not changing. Heh.
