P.C. madness strikes the U.K.

Ever hear of the historical atrocity called The Holocaust? If you're in certain British schools, you may not any longer -- especially if you have Muslim classmates:

Schools are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Governmentbacked study has revealed.

It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose beliefs include Holocaust denial.

There is also resistance to tackling the 11th century Crusades - where Christians fought Muslim armies for control of Jerusalem - because lessons often contradict what is taught in local mosques.

But I wonder if any of these Muslim students called another kid "gay" -- would they be treated like this 11 year old boy? (Sounds familiar, doesn't it?)

1 That's as silly as dropping evolution for fear of offending Christians.

2 I usually get a good chuckle out of these little isolated tidbits of ridiculousness that are the cornerstone of right-wing blogging and radio activism.

But this one is actually worth noting. That is just nuts.

3 if the left really believed in evolution, then global warming would be no big deal... we can just all evolve to deal with the chang in the weather.

4 Willy, I was just wondering why I've been getting taller and darker-skinned...

Back to the subject at hand, does this mean all of those Holy Grail documentaries on History Channel, etc, will stop bringing up the fact that the Templars stabled their horses in the al Aqsa Mosque? I mean, that's got to be totally offensive and insulting to Muslims.

Speaking of insults and Muslims, I had a radical and politically incorrect revelation the other night while watching, you guessed it, the History Channel. We all know why Jews and Christians venerate Jerusalem, but not many understand the Muslim claim to the Holy City. You see, before the Prophet Mohammed was taken up to heaven, he flew from Mecca to Jerusalem on the back of a magic horse-man creature. There, he planted his foot on the Temple Mount (there's a footprint in the stone marking the spot) and then went off to Paradise.

Politically incorrect revelation follows: Since showing someone the soles of your feet or touching them with the soles of your feet (remember all the Iraqis hitting the Saddam statue with their shoes) is a grave insult, isn't the al Aqsa Mosque a commemoration of Mohammed's mighty insult to Judaism? It's a wonder he didn't take time to fly across town and take a dump at the Holy Sepulchre.

5 Independent sources say the issue may be a bit blown out of proportion:

(hinting that the Holocaust isn't gone from the curriculum, just placed in a different course)

I found the secondary links considerably more chilling, especially police harrassment for childish insults. I wonder if that would be counted as libel in the States (no idea what it'd look like legally in Britain)
