Just wow...
Well, I've neither cleaned anything nor hung myself... yet. (How many loops again, is a noose supposed to have? 13 is it?)
Instead, immediately after closing the last browser window after my last post, I re-opened Moz and went here. You go here, too. It's fuckin' awesome!
I'd been here before, a few years back. I left a little note, said how much I liked Roger and why and MARY WROTE BACK! I was... speechless when I saw her email. This time, I checked out the juke box. That's what ya oughta do, even if that's all ya do. I, myself, started with "Husbands and Wives" and worked my way up the list to "Dang Me", saving "River in the Rain" (another song from Big River) for last. No matter what order you go in, do that, too... save "River in the Rain" for last. And, have some tissues available. I listened it that one a coupla times and, like I just told Mary in another note I left, each time I heard it, the image of my Pop-pop floatin' down the Big River on a raft with Roger and a few special others became clearer and clearer, even through the tears. And...On top of hearing five of Roger's best songs, you also get to hear him do a little intro for each one. It's sooo cool. Tell ya's what.
I don't care what it takes... I hafta own a copy of (or at least see) "Big River". It'd be worth it alone just to see John Goodman do "Guv'ment".
It'd be worth it alone just to have "River in the Rain" on any kinda tape.
It'll be worth whatever it takes... Go.
Listen.
Have those tissues handy....

Wow! What a find for a Roger Miller nut.I used to sing nearly all his songs, and I still would if Kareoke players had songs that old in their books. I still get to do quite a bit of Hank Williams, a few Ray Price tunes, Willie and Waylan, but so much of the songs they have are only five or six years old at the most. I've found a few Faron Young songs, George Jones,(I do
'He stopped lovin' her today' every time I sing. What a song.!) Now and then a Jim Reeves or two.
'Four Walls', and 'Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone' are in some books. I do like doin' 'I love this bar', and Kim loves it when I
ad lib 'I like to take her out to dinner, a little blow-job now and then...' But I digress.
Thanks so much for finding that Roger Miller net.
Love,
Dad
