Speaking of military-type stuff...

I have (yet) a (nother) question.

Stupid McGuyver just got Eric riled because they had a Navy Seal asking McGuyver for help. As if....
Even I know know ain't no Navy Seal needin' no stupid McGuyver for anything, except maybe 'moving target' practice, right? Right.

Well, Eric was in the Navy, so I asked him if it woulda made him feel better if it had been a Ranger askin' for McGuyver's help. And, he says "Yeah" real quick, then grins and says "Well..."
He thinks for a second and then says "Navy Seals really are the best trained fighting men we've got..." To which I replied "Like an Army guy wouldn't say the same thing about the Rangers or Special Forces or whomever?"
Then he told me they're all 'Special Forces' and there are really only two of them, the Seals and the Rangers.

So...now I wanna know. How many of these specialized groups are there and which one really is the most kick-ass, sneakiest, most numerous ways of killin ya before ya even know about it, baddest-assed ones?

(Lord, I just realized how glad I am that that MASH quiz also didn't say I'm like Col. Flagg...lol)

Anyway...Gentlemen? Care to enlighten me, please?

1 I know some people who would say the SEALs and Rangers are just Marines wanna-be's.

<ducks and runs>

2 I asked about that. Eric, Mr. Navy-man, swears the Marines are a branch of the Navy....I have no idea....which is why I'm askin'...lol.

3 Actually, the USMC is in the "Department of the Navy"...heh...the MEN's department...

but, we are NOT a brach of the Navy...for instance, NOWHERE is a sailor in a Marine's chain of command - unless they get some Admiral to be Chairman of the JCS..

6 Can't remember which network, think it was on Discovery, that I saw a show based on a yearly competition between Special Forces groups. Contest sections included one being dropped in the dark in a wilderness area, timed and graded upon getting back to the start having found certain objectives on the way.

The competition was set up in groups of two partners competing as a team against the other teams. One guy was so tough, he competed through several parts with a fractured ankle. He wouldn't let his teammate down, there's pride in finishing, even if it's finishing in last place.

Stevie, sorry I can't remember the Armed Forces these teams represented, but they were tough men. I'm just proud that they're American born and bred.
