Wow....

I really DO love the Marine Corps.

Last thing I did this morning before I left to drive in Philly traffic (morning commuter traffic, too, mind you) was to post that picture of Animal. (Man, I love that guy...)
AAAanyway, a friend of mine needed a ride home from work this morning, so I told him "Sure" and first off, I didn't get lost. I also didn't get run over, flipped off or shot. That's always good.

BUT...

on the way home, I turned on the radio and it was on 98.1 WOGL FM, which is THEE best radio station EVER anyway (I've said that before, and I'm sayin' it again...), and they had this trivia question about "pet peeves". The question was "What's the biggest pet peeve people have about their significant others in the bathroom?" They wanted the "47% said this" answer. About 4700 people called in, guessed and were WRONG.

I called. Yes, while I was driving... on 611... in morning commuter traffic. S'okay though. I DO have WOGL on speed dial. *grin* (I don't usually even bother trying to call in for contests. Ya just never get anything but a busy signal. The reason I put them on speed dial is the overnite DJ. He's a goof and he's always saying off-the-wall shit at 3:30am, making me laugh coffee out my nose, so I was putting HIM on speed dial when I did that, not so much the station itself to be calling in for contests, but... what da hell, right?)

I called, I got through and... I wound up on the radio this morning. Yes, I got it right. The biggest pet peeve of all people for all time about their S.O. in the bathroom is that the S.O. doesn't straighten up nuttin' in there when they're done. Not the toilet seat "up or down" debate, toilet paper being hung WRONG (I hate that, btw), toothpaste cap left off... just "being messy in general".

Gee, I wonder how I knew that? Hmmmm.... *sidelong, giggling glance at Eric*

Hell, I didn't even know what I was playing for, really. I just had the answer, so I called.

Seems I won a DVD of Chicago with "behind-the-scenes" cool shit and extras on it, which is really cool and all, except for oooone lil' thing....

I know you can play CD's on a pooter... can ya do the same with DVD's? I hope so, cause I don't own a DVD player. *lmao*

Can ya stand it? And, if not, is it the fact that a DVD-player-less person won a DVD or the fact that I'm really related to Fred Flintstone and don't own a player, that ya can't believe?

I'm torn between the two, myself.
This is soooo "my life".... *giggle*

So, thank you Animal, FMJ, the Marines and what- or whomever else shined on my karma this morning.

I think it was the Corps.

Either that, or else God really does appreciate all the spiders, grasshoppers, praying mantises, meeses and pigeons I've saved from my cats lately.

*shrug and a grin*

Whichever.

Now, about playing DVD's on a computer... yes or no?
(Oooh, and Paul... I need to catch up wit' you and find out how to post sound bytes. I've been pointed to page fulla "quotes" from Hartman and I can, off the top of my head, think of about 92 things he says that'd be totally appropriate to use in posts ever' now and again... *big toothy grin*)

1 Unless your computer is almost brand-spanking 'new', I don't think you'll be able to play a DVD on it.

I could be completely WRONG, but there's one way to find out.....pop it in and close the draw.

Worst case: it'll spin up and then you'll get a message that says 'unfamiliar media' or something like that.

3 No DVD player here either.
I had a free Mad-Mag disk a few years ago that supposedly had great graphics. It played audio in my CD player and computer. I don't think it was a DVCD, though.
So I guess I'd trust Buck's answer. Ah, well.

At least y'got on the radio!

4 There's DVD-playing software. I have a DVD player but my TV's too old to be compatible with it, so it's kind of here for decoration. Macs come with the Apple DVD player; I'm sure Windows has a similar component.

Anyway, that's so cool about getting on the air! Funny how you'd probably never made it on if you wanted whatever the prize would be.

5 Sorry, dudette - wrong player. No amount of software wizardry will make a cd drive play a DVD. (Although the reverse works just dandy.)
