Ya know, sometimes even I don't believe this shit...
Why, I do NOT know, since I've been here almost three years and I KNOW diary farmers are, like, brain damaged to begin with.... (Ummm, 'scuse me, here folks. It's now 12:35am and I just noticed something. I, uh... spelled "dairy" wrong. I've got "diary" farmers up there. So, I'd like to, at this time, thank ERIC *Hiya, Honey! gives a little wave with all five fingers at him* for forever dyslexic-ing those two words in my head. That is all... FOR NOW.)
But, I swear ta Gawd...
I was out driving my hay ride, right? Had an Oliver tractor, even. Hell, I even SWITCHED Olivers, because the first one has a problem starting, if it stalls. So, I get around a coupla fields, through the huge mud puddle and was about to make a right and cross the stream when THE TIRE FELL OFF. One of the front tires just fell OFF.
It's one of the kind that has both front tires right next to each other, together, instead of spread apart. When I left out with it, the last thing Bill said to me was that they'd just gotten this tractor back in service. Welllll... back to the shop, then. I'd noticed that the entire time I was driving it, I seemed to have to keep slowly turning the wheel to the left to stay straight, but it was turning okay. Especially to the right... I got through one big left, down a hill, through that mud puddle and around the next field. I swung left a little to make a wide turn, swung back to the right and bloop. I was non-plussed, to say the least. I was ASTOUNDED when Bill's answer to this was to "keep driving it..." on the OTHER tire WHICH WAS FLAT. Yeah, the one that retained air is the one that fell off.Figures. Jason brought out another tractor, we got him hooked to the wagon and away they went. (I didn't know how to drive that tractor, plus I was reeeeally wantin' a cuppa coffee about then, so I got a ride with Josh and came on home to cook spaghetti... and stuff.) Siiiigh... Only thing that's really making me wonder is... was it the fact that I was wearing my Wellacrest jacket that made all that happen? Probably. Thanks, Wal!!
Love ya, Buddy!!
