1 I wouldn't feed them. I'd squish them. But that's just me. :-)

3 Sheep. Crickets eat sheep.

Ask Cherry. It's true!

4 No, no, Jennifer! It's good luck to have crickets, and bad luck to kill them (at least, that's the Irish Superstition, and I'm stickin' with it). :-)

5 I thought crickets ate crackers.
It's fun to say, too... cricket crackers, cricket crakers.
I need to find that damn remote.

16 I know!i mainly feed my crickets oatmeal but they will eat apples oranges and yes potatos

I mix it up a bit. Sometimes I use fish flakes, oatmeal, dry catfood, and maybe a piece of quality lettuce like collards. For sake of keeping them hydrated I use potatos and apples.
PE

Potatoes don’t really add much nutrition, just water. You are better off using dark leafy greens or slices of orange as they contain much more in the way of vitamins and minerals while still providing a high moisture level. The bugs can fill up on starch and not get a good effective gutload going on.
I don’t like the commercial gutloading stuff. Most of it is too high in phosphorus and contains a controversial preservative called ethoxyquin.

Ethoxyquin toxicity

I use the same salad ingredients that I give bearded dragons and iguanas, plus some spirulina fish flakes, bearded dragon pellets or dry cat food, and sometimes some nonfat powdered milk if I have herps with an especially strong calcium need. I also sprinkle some calcium and vitamin powder over their food at least

19 i think crickets eat grass, but that's just what i've always heard from other people. they eat almost anything though, like old tomatoes and if they get in your house they will eat paper.

Posted by: pissed at May 16, 2004 04:30 PM (aTq3v)

23 Neither person discussing the lap dance are children. The guy is in the military and the female is 41.
Take a friggin' chill pill, or I'll ban you.
If you're looking for answers they're there. If you're looking to be an ass, I really will ban you.

Besides, the entire thing is about metaphorical crickets, not real ones.
Jesus.

If you want to know what i mean by thing its, ding dong. Well at least i know now you all know and um yeah. Oh e-mail me if you know anymore foods its great i know all them. I put cheese and water in there now, my first cricket was a cricket with a baby on its back, and thats all i have now just 1 adult and 1 baby it all ands up to 2. Okay now im only 9 but well watever. 33 crickets will eat just about any fruit or vegtable thats been sitting out for a day, they also eat almost any fabrics including cotton, rayon, polyester, silk etc. etc. . also each other if they get hungry enough.

Posted by: drkangloki at July 28, 2004 08:39 PM (W7MH2)

34 You could always just get some cricket food at the pet store. It's got the nutrients in it that they need.

37 My 6 year old has a cricket named Crigger. We were wondering the same thing, What in the world do they eat?

apples, oranges, potatoes and oatmeal? is that it?

Posted by: Lisa at August 12, 2004 11:28 AM (VvPKN)

38 crickets are omnivores, they eat just about anything. They're like kids, experiment to see what they eat. What Deadeye suggested sounds accurate, but they eat eachother too, FYI

39 Hey,I wanna know what crickets eat too, We found one at school and we named it Tekcirc. I thought it was either Chinese or Jappenese religeon to keep a cricket as a pet. My cricket's only a baby and very cute and sweet. We named it Tekcirc because its cricket backwords.

44 We caught a little field mouse. He was doing all right for about a week or two until we put a cricket in there with him. We thought that the mouse would eat the cricket. Instead, the cricket KILLED THE MOUSE!! I found the mouse dead with a bloody ear and blood all over his neck and the fur of his back. There's no way it could have been suicide because I'm sure my mouse was very happy. We took the cricket outside and SMOOSHED him dead. Bad cricket!

56 I am laughing my head off. This is hillarious. My six year old found a cricket at the mall and put it in his pant pocket. It got out at Taco Bell and my husband had to catch it. It was lost at home for a couple of days, but we found it. Durable little thing, so I guess we'll have to feed it. "Crick-Crick" will appreciate all your advise.

60 I breed a few crickets for my Chameleons and feed them dry crushed cat food with skim milk powder 10 parts to 1 part calcium vitamin powder, also any vegetables I might have left over. For their water use cotton balls in a small dish of water or a sponge or they will drown, just keep it moist.
keep them in a dry container with egg crates with the food and water at one end.
LOL good luck with not loosing any, my whole house is chirping.....
