Question....
What in God's name is a 'meme'? I see it in blogs constantly, have asked about 49 people what it means and have gotten not one word back in response.
Another thing I wanna know what da hell it is, is 'bling, bling'. WTF does this shit mean? I wanted to know when I first heard it. Now that I've seen an uber blonde bimbo-type bee-otch using it on VH1 (and sounding completly STOOPID, I might add) I've just gotta know what the hell it means. There are other mysteries of the universe I keep meaning to ask about, then I forget. Today, as they come back to me (or whenever they do), I'll be asking.Frick, I'm 40 years old. I should know this shit by now. Ya know?

Hey Stevie...I did a lil research, and found the definition of MEME over at http://www.davidgagne.net/main/dictionary.shtml
MEME: any expression (usually the smallest/shortest possible) that can convey meaning; an idea, behavior, style, or usage that spreads from person to person within a culture.
As far as the Bling Bling thing goes...I've heard several definitions. Near as I can tell, it just refers to anything expensive, shiny, or showy. I read this somewhere - colloquially, "bling" refers to the shine on jewels, gold, or other expensive shiny stuff. You know, when the light shines on a gem, in cartoons, the sound is "bling!" Rappers, hip-hop professionals, and fans of the genre use this term to refer to their valuables.
So there ya go! Hope it helps. And if it's any consolation, I had to ask about those two things at one point, too.

"meme", as far as blogs go, are those little things that get passed from blog to blog to blog... like those "which lord of the rings character are you" quizzes, or something as simple as the Friday Five.
bling bling, as far as i know, is just slang for jewelery.

'meme' is the root cause of blogging, it's sorta like a genetic defect in your DNA that makes you think the whole world gives a shit about your opinions. We all got it.
'bling bling' is the street name for my Mr. Winky. He needed the street cred.

A "meme" is a phrase or concept that has become conventional wisdom. A popular phrase in the blogosphere, and I hate it. It's pretentious and verbally unsatisfying.
"Bling bling" is what rappers call their goodies, especially flashy jewelry.
