Who draws the crowd and plays so lud, baby it's the guitar man
Who's gonna steal the show, you know baby it's the guitar man
He can make you love, he can make you cry
He will bring you down then he'll get you high
Somethin' keeps him goin' miles and miles a day
To find another place to play. Night after night who treats you right, baby it's the guitar man
Who's on the radio, you go listen to the guitar man
Then he comes to town and you see his face
And you think you might like to take his place
Somethin' keeps him driftin' miles and miles away
Searchin' for the songs to play. Then you listen to the music and you like to play along
You want to get the meaning out of each and every song
Then you find yourself a message and some words
To call your own and take them home. He can make you love, he can get you high
He will bring you down then he'll make you cry
Somethin' keeps him movin' but no one seems to know
What it is that makes him go. Then the lights begin to flicker and the sound is getting dim
The voice begins to falter and the crowds are getting thin
But he never seems to notice he's just got to find
Another place to play, either way got to play
Either way got to play

It's been a damn long time since I heard that song. Was it "Bread" that played it back in the 60's?
I still miss Old Bowlegs. I still read his blog at least a couple of times a week.

I miss him so much. Thanks Stevie for helping to keep his spirit alive online. You do not know how much that mean to me and my family.

Assrot... yep, David Gates and Bread.
I love Bread.
So much so, that I even put up a post for David when he... died.
He had such a sweet voice... so perfect for the songs that Bread was famous for...
"If", "Sweet Surrender"... God.
(And, now I've got goosebumps and if I don't stop, I'm gonna end up in tears... Yeah, I love Bread.)
And Sam... I love your Dad.
Just doing what I do for the sake of doing it would be enough for me to KEEP doing it til I'm dead myself, but... you letting me know that other members of your family also find comfort in it... wow, ya know?
I'd have never assumed they see it.
I hadn't thought about that part.
I just do what I do because it's the "right-est" thing I've ever gotten to do in my life for someone.
Let alone a man like Rob... Lord.
When you tell me, or remind me, that others, especially your family, see it and LIKE it... Well, Darlin', that's just gas on the fire of my energy for this whole thing.
So, thank you for letting me know.
Now, let them know... I'm not doing anything hard, here.
It's all Rob.
He wrote the words, lived through the suffering, and survived it.
All I'm doing is holding up and showing (off) the pieces of his soul that he put into damned near every post he wrote.
He left me the most wonderful material to work with...
It's alllll him.
(Really, all I am is the lucky one who gets to do this for him and you and "y'all"... *grin*)
