1 Yessiree, that would be Indiana University!!!

Actually they aren't as bad as Ball State in Muncie, IN (close to where I live). They are the ones that tried to pelt David Horowitz with pies when he was there to speak about a week or two before Islamofacist Awareness Week. I would like to stage a protest there and hold up signs "Peace Not Pastries" and "Pastries have Rights too"!!! Braaahaha!!

2 The way to the dark side for me will be through funding. I've often considered going over to the dark side and living off taxpayers by doing government-funded "research." I just can't give up personal responsibility, though.

3 You would also have to give up accountability too. That and responsibility is an life long addition for some of us and simply cannot be abandoned. Now if you produced something of VALUE from the research, you would be doing something no other government employee has ever done and could make it into Guiness Book !!!

4 If I were producing something of value, government wouldn't fund that.

5 Oops!! I forgot, we are talking about our government and hand outs aren't we. You aren't related to someone in Congress or the House are ya? I think that can be helpful when working aroung these technicalities.

6 I'm pretty friendly with a couple CongressCritters (read: I gave them bribes, I mean campaign donations in the past).

7 LOL!!! That never hurts! Get a research grant for something legit and see if they would use an "earmark" to insure you get it! LOL!!! Oh that hurts even joking! It sounds so.... uh, er... LIBERAL!!! *disclaimer: Only kidding*

8 The dark side can be VERY tempting. Especially because I've looked into the grants -- you can do whatever you want with the money -- like give yourself a daily stipend of $500, if there's enough in the grant.

9 Like temptation from the Devil! Not good.

10 I fight it!

11 Hey, Ron Paul's campaign contributions are up to 7,680,756.32!!! And Gun Owners and Homeschoolers support him! Looking at his site really helps me to see more detail in where he stands.

12 LMAO!!

Much of the pork we see is given to universities to do so called research...what a crock most of it is. And the real folks who do the real research get screwed over. All the time.

13 I believe that many times "Interns and Instructors" do the research and the PHDs pocket the cash. I think some have it perfected too... absolute theivery. There is more white collar crime on campus's than anywhere else, IMHO.

14 I am actually "qualified" to do such research. I've looked into how they work. When people think that university people are underpaid, they just don't understand "the system."

You see, government paychecks are only half their income. These "Grants" -- at least every one I looked at -- include piles of cash as stipends. I've seen cases where university professors can make $50-$100K a year in stipends on research grants -- in addition to their salary. And yes, they can be doing (and often are) research on more than one thing at a time.

I'm telling you, the dark side is very tempting.

15 I don't know, I always preferred to date ugly people as it makes me look better!

16 Yeah, but this poll polled men...

Posted by: Ogre at November 09, 2007 02:23 PM (oifEm)

17 Yeah, and let's face it, many men can be pretty shallow when it comes to picking a date! LOL!!!
They tend to want to date Paris Hilton but marry someone with depth and a real career. (Just had to say that!)

Posted by: HoosierArmyMom at November 09, 2007 04:56 PM (eaqGd)

18 Heh. I think most men today don't actually want women with a career. I could be wrong, though, how about you give me a million or so in government cash and I'll take a survey.

Posted by: Ogre at November 09, 2007 05:14 PM (oifEm)

19 Well from my experience, it seems they either want you to have a career (which translates cash) or money (which translates the same). And many times they want you to look like Christie Brinkley too. Then there are those who want a woman to stay home and raise children too. I think I've been around the more shallow men in my lifetime though. LOL!
Well, you can forget getting government money from me... Unless you are the IRS. They do a pretty good job of getting my money! LOL!!!

Posted by: HoosierArmyMom at November 09, 2007 05:22 PM (eaqGd)

20 It's a government study. I bet I could find someone to point a gun at you and take the money from you to give to me...(Yes, that very same IRS).

Posted by: Ogre at November 09, 2007 05:27 PM (oifEm)

21 Ever hear you can't get blood from a turnip???
Well, consider me a turnip that has been bled dry by the government already! Maybe some of the liberals in Congress would contribute... oh, My Bad... they never pay out their money do they? They all get special tax exemptions for being public "servants" (should be task masters!) don't they?

Posted by: HoosierArmyMom at November 09, 2007 05:37 PM (eaqGd)

22 And medical benefits and retirement programs better than anyone else in the country!
