Freedom: Charlotte Observer Hates It

For those who are new to the area, you may not realize the primary viewpoint of the local newspaper, the Charlotte Observer. The editors are strongly socialist. They honestly despise freedom. Seriously. This newspaper believes that you are too stupid and too irresponsible to be trusted with freedom, only they should be allowed freedom. Oh, and anyone they anoint as a leader (Democrats), too.

This can be seen nearly any day in their opinion section. Sunday's editorial shows that strong slant once again.

In this editorial, the Observer editors complain that people are free to make financial agreements with one another. They complain that people get mortgages that they cannot afford -- and that the all-powerful government should step in and make all determinations for the exact dollar amount that YOU can "Afford" -- no matter what you might like or want. You see, in the minds of the Observer editors, government knows everything. They know exactly how much money YOU can "afford" to borrow, and the Observer actually believes that the job of government is to protect you from borrowing "too much" money.

This is the absolute opposite of freedom -- which is consistently the position of the Charlotte Observer. If you truly want to be free, there is really just one place that's got a chance for freedom. Really.
