FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 7, 2007State Auditor Les Merritt to Seek Re-Election
RALEIGH, N.C. – State Auditor Les Merritt announced today that he plans to seek re-election in 2008. Merritt, a Republican, was elected in 2004.
“For the past two years our team and I have worked hard to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our state government, but there is still much work to be done,” said Merritt. “I am humbled to serve as State Auditor, and I respectfully ask the voters to allow us to continue working to improve the way our state manages the people’s money.”

I have had the privilege of hearing Les Merritt speak on two separate occasions. He is a very funny and engaging speaker, but that is not sufficient reason to reelect him. His fantastic record as the only CPA to ever hold the office of auditor is why we should reelect him. I wish every public servant was this conscientious and effective.
