Dole on Immigration
From the North Carolina Republican convention last weekend in Charlotte:
Dole announces opposition to Amnesty Bill Senator Elizabeth Dole announced her opposition to the Amnesty Bill, during her speech at the GOP luncheon in Charlotte this weekend. She followed a speech by Representative Sue Myrick, which was well received by the attendees. Representative Myrick had clearly stated her opposition to this bill. Congresswoman Myrick spoke about her anti-terrorism caucus and the fact that 109 members of congress had joined. I was unable to ask her where were the other 426 member of congress on this important issue. Party Chair Daves announced the capture of the terrorists plotting the attack on Kennedy airport right after these two leaders spoke, which punctuated the seriousness of their speeches.
Sue Myrick has always been on the right side of this immigration crap. Dole appears to be on the right side and has been voting the right way recently. I do hope she keeps it up.

The Amnesty Bill has me damned depressed. And to think that this bill is going to be signed into law with a Republican in the White House!

My latest letter to the traitor Richard Burr:
"Dear Senator Burr,
On Monday, 4 June 2007, at around 7:25 am, George A. Smith of Cary, NC, was killed on I-40, by an illegal alien. Carolyn Hageman of Apex was also injured. Mr. Smith was killed because of you, Gov. Mike Easley, George Bush, and your political friends in Washington, Raleigh, and Wall Street.
I want you to think about the family that Mr. Smith left behind as well as all the others just killed in North Carolina due to illegal aliens. If they were not here, many others (Americans) people would be alive today. So when you and Sen. Teddy Kennedy are eating lobsters and drinking fine wine together, paid for by some Wall Street lobbyist, working out your plans for destroying America with your Amnesty/Immigration Bill, just think for a moment: How many more Mr. Smith’s and their families will be killed by illegal (soon to be legal) aliens?
How many Americans have to die Senator Burr?

I called his office with the same message. They were polite, respectful, and probably playing computer games rather then listening to me.

Hopefully we will not have to call anymore after the cloture vote failed a short time ago. Here's hoping the bill is dead.

I hope it's dead, but Harry Reid, after the last vote, said he looks forward to passing the bill -- it may be dead for this week, but it clearly will be back.
