And one other note -- stop looking for someone to blame. Look, the ONLY person to blame is burning in hell right now. It's not the fault of the police, or the university, or the NRA, or Bush. It's the bastard who pulled the damn trigger. I really wish the press would SHUT UP about trying to blame someone or claim that someone "should have done something different."

Same with the "What can we do to prevent this in the future?" question from the press. SHUT UP. There's ONE way to prevent this, and one way alone: don't have colleges. People have been killing others since there have been people -- you simply cannot stop it. Stop trying to claim you can. Heck, local colleges here have instituted "increased security" to prevent this -- like checking IDs of everyone on campus. That would have had NO EFFECT. SHUT UP you people looking for answers -- they're not coming.

3 NO ONE should just lay back and say that there is nothing we can do to stop this from happening again. That's unacceptable. What sort of attitude is that - people will kill people, so there's no point trying to stop it?

Things could've been different if, say, someone with such a questionable mental history hadn't been able to obtain guns so easily, or if the university could've notified its students about the first incident straight away, or if the students responsible enough to carry a concealed weapon had been allowed to do so and protect themselves.

Saying 'nothing could've been done' is a cop-out, and doesn't help those of us who don't want to see a repeat of this tragedy.

4 It's reality. Sorry, but people have been killing people since Cain and Abel. As long as there have been people, there has been evil. To even suggest for a minute that there's something that can be done that will result in no one killing anyone else is just insane.

I remember watching a sci-fi show that featured such a world. Everyone was nice to everyone else. There was no strife. There was no murder. Well, of course, there was the government who immediately "removed" anyone who was remotely nice. It still didn't eliminate people killing people, it just made government the source of all evil.
