Fight the Home Tax

The Democrat-led North Carolina General Assembly is working hard to get more money from you. One of their current efforts is to put a tax on moving -- yes, any time you decide that you want to move, they want you to pay a rather large tax -- typically in the thousands of dollars. Of course, they won't dare call it a "moving tax" -- that would be too honest. They call it a "land transfer tax" -- hoping that most people won't understand what that means.

Well, some people are finally organizing against this. The NC Association of Realtors has started Stop the NC Home Tax (and note the domain name: it's a bad idea). They view it on a tax on your equity. I think they're just a little short on that concept -- you see, you don't even have to HAVE any equity for the Democrats to tax you! If you have ZERO equity on the house, you STILL pay the entire tax. And that will have a side effect that the Democrats LOVE -- it will make it more difficult for you to move.

Taking away freedom of movement -- just another service of the North Carolina Democrat.

So head on over and visit and help them out -- if you think you should be able to keep the money you earn.

1 We've been fighting this for some time now. Glad they finally joined the fight. OUr Chatham County Commissioner Mike Cross seems a tad upset that the state now wants to keep the money. Gee, Who would have suspected there were OTHER greedy politicians around?

We have a smaple letter up for people to use to contact their representatives. This must be stopped. Think about the fact that you pay for your property with money that has already been subjected to the income tax, then you pay property taxes the whole time you live there, then, when you sell it, they want you to pay a sales tax on it. (And late when you die, they want a piece of that money again.)

2 Thanks for that update, David!

I think the part that really bothers me (more than just the fact it's yet another tax) is that it's a tax on MOVING!

3 There is another difference between liberals and conservatives. Conservatives look for ways to decrease peoples tax burdens. Liberals spend time coming up with creative ways to tax people.

4 More taxes are ALWAYS better in the minds of liberals. And they KNOW that most people do not agree with that idea, so the liberals have to hide taxes and lie about them to get the money. And since they honestly believe the ends always justify the means, they have no problem completely lying about all taxes and tax increases.

I'll never forget a "debate" I had with a Democrat when I ran for office. I claimed he raised taxes 39 times and had the votes and bills in my hand to prove that he did. He absolutely and completely denied that he ever voted to raise taxes!
