Feds Strong-Arm NC. Again

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there was a country that was founded on individual freedom and rights. It was a loose collection of self-governing states that were united for their common defense. It was called the United States of America. That place no longer exists today.

Instead, we have a strong federal, centralized government. We have no local control. We have state government that simply exist to do the bidding of the all-powerful central government. That's why presidential and congressional elections have become more important -- they now run the entire country, unlike the system of government set out in the Constitution.

Yet again, this all-powerful centralized government has used it's ultimate power and authority (and your cash) to bribe a state into doing what the federal government wants.

Now, if I were to go up to a legislator and offer him $50,000 to pass a law for me, that would be blatantly illegal. I would go to jail and so would the legislator who received the bribe. I don't know anyone who would question that. However, for some reason, when some unelected federal government employees do EXACTLY that, no crime has been committed. I wonder what other crimes you get to commit for free if you're a member of the all-powerful federal government?

It's very clear what was done. It fits the very definition of bribery of a government official. I don't understand why the federal regulators aren't immediately arrested and jailed. Here's how it works: the federal regulator told the General Assembly that he would give the state one million dollars if they passed a law. The General Assembly passed the law, and the state gets the money. Someone please explain to me why they're allowed to bribe government officials with stolen money, but I'm not.

And for those interested, the law they used YOUR tax money to bribe North Carolina to pass is one that removes and exception to the child-safely seat law. You used to be able to take your child out of a child seat in a car if they had diarrhea all over the place or threw up on themselves. You're not allowed to do that any more in North Carolina, you must leave the child in the seat.

Well, that's just stupid! And cruel to the child as well.

2 Here's what makes it even more stupid: prior to this law, no child was hurt as a result of being removed from its carseat for a few minutes; however, in the recent past there have been 19 incidents of cars being struck that have pulled off to the side of the road for whatever reason.

So, naturally, what do the Feds insist you must do to deal with child in an emergency situation: pull of to the side of the road before removing the child from the seat.

3 AOW, you're right. I did mention it was the federal government that bribed North Carolina, right?

Seems logical to me, as I understand government, Cindi. They WANT victims. They WANT people to depend upon them. So if you're irresponsible, that's okay with the government. If you're responsible, then they're not needed -- and they cannot have that.
