NC Lottery Results

We already know that the NC lottery was a pack of lies. It was sold as an end to all school funding problems, and not one new dollar has appeared "for education." We also know that the little money it is generating is much less than it was project to generate. And a new report highlights the other effects of the lottery, exactly as were predicted here at Ogre's before the lottery was passed.

“Opponents of the lottery warned that it would be a tax on poor people, but it’s actually turned out worse – it is a tax on poor, unemployed people in Eastern North Carolina who already pay high taxes.”

So where's the Democrats to protect the poor? You can bet that if there were an individual doing business in North Carolina who was making most of their profit from poor people who "couldn't afford it," the Democrats would run them out of the state in a minute. AND THEY HAVE -- payday lenders. But this time, since it's the Democrat-run state government that's profiting off the poor, well that's just fine and dandy.

Read all the gory details here. It's not pretty -- but it's exactly what I predicted -- and EXACTLY what the Democrats want: more slaves dependent on government.

1 Where are the Democrats? In line, waiting to collect their kickbacks. Same as with the PA pols and the gambling kickbacks.

2 There's a reason that the administrators of the lottery make more than $100K -- they have to be able to afford the political donations. Cash from the taxpayer to the politician's personal pocket.

3 This is not a surprise to ANYONE who pays attention to these sorts of issues. The only issue was the complete dishonesty of those trying to pass it.

At least it is voluntary. Awfully sad for those families though.

4 I think it's much deeper and more evil than that. It's the state teaching the poor to put all their hope in government. And that's not a good place to put hope for anything.
