Reid's Useless Resolution
Clueless Senate Majority Leader (yes, it pains me to say that, but this is where National Politics has now taken us -- to have reduced the once-respected position of majority leader of the United States Senate down to a clueless, political posturing person seeking only advancement of his own political power at the expense of a once-great country) has proposed a resolution in the Senate that will, well, nothing. It will not only appear to do nothing, it will actually have no effect on anything in the world. And the lefties are supporting him fully.
First, it's a resolution. That means it just says how the Senate "feels" about something. That's all. It requires nothing of anyone. Regardless, it's still rather powerful. If the Senate passed a resolution that said that the French are smelly, the French would be really angry at us and might even surrender. So while Senate resolutions don't actually DO anything, they do send clear messages. So, what's this powerful, "anti-war" message that Reid wants to send? He wants US Troops used in Iraq to defend themselves, train Iraqis, and to participate in counter-terrorism operations. Harry? Mr. Reid? Earth to Mr. Reid. Hello? Anyone home? I would absolutely LOVE for someone to get to Mr. Reid and ask him to state what the US Troops are currently doing in Iraq. Are they training Iraqis? Are they participating in counter-terrorism operations? What else are they doing? Folks, Reid wants to pass a resolution in the United States Senate to DEMAND that the U.S. Troops in Iraq CONTINUE EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING NOW! And he demands that they start doing what they're doing now by March 31, 2008. This one really takes the cake on political posturing. You can bet if he passes this resolution, he will claim he supports the troops and he opposes the war. And he'll get more power and more money from the fools that actually believe him. Banana Republic? If only we had that much sense.

The more time the Dems waste the better. If they were actually going to repeal some laws, then I would be upset about them wasting time. But, given the alternatives of them actually passing bad legislation or wasting time on resolutions that have no meaning and no teeth, please, please, please, keep this debate going and waste all the time you want. I hope they spend the next two years endlessly debating whether to pass a resolution that the sky should be blue. The republic would be safer.

Birdwoman, do you suppose I'd get a response if I sent his "staff" an email?
