No Money for Poor Healthcare

A bunch of people in Orlando are complaining that the poor don't have any money. Is that a shock to you? Did you think we called them "the poor" because they were loaded? And as usual, the vast majority of these "victims" are criminal aliens in Florida.

So what's the Democrat and Socialist solution? The one implied in the article -- that everyone else should be forced at gunpoint to give more cash to these "agencies" that are "helping" the poor. In other words, more taxes for those that work to pay for those that do not, yet again.

To make this clear -- I have absolutely no problem with anyone who wants to help someone. I can understand a hospital or agency that wants to open and help the poor. I give money and time to some such organizations. But these organizations can ONLY work when they are truly voluntary. If they take even one dollar from a government agency, then they are no longer "non-profit," nor are they even charitable.

When you accept money from a government, you are taking money that was forced from others. It was not given freely to you. If you want charity, you simply cannot accept it -- because it was taken by force, not willingly. In a free market and a free country, of the poor will be helped and others will not. If the US government decides to help every single person who needs money, they will punish those who work, making more "poor," AND they will encourage every person on the planet to come to this country for the free medical care (and cash).

That's wrong, plain and simple. I'm sorry there are those who are suffering. I'm sorry there are those who are poor and cannot afford medical care. But I refuse to take by force from one person to give to another -- that's plain wrong. I will give what I have to help people. I will help people. But I cannot participate in a system that will throw you in jail or shoot you if you do not give them money.

Government is completely and totally incapable of ANY sort of charity ANY time.

The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.

Matthew 26:11

But I hope I, personally, can claim as Job did:
I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the orphan who had no helper...I made the widow's heart sing for joy...I was eyes to the blind and feet to the lame. I was a father to the needy, and I investigated the case which I did not know.

Job 29:12-16

And that "I" is not the "royal" I, nor is it government -- it simply cannot be.

1 The only healthcare I have is what I pay for out of my own pocket. Can't afford health insurance and even if I could, my fees would still be exhorbitant. Pay for my medicine, too. Health insurance would cost me $1100+/month plus copays... just for me. My medical bills average about $50/month including prescription medicines, except for lab tests which happen once a year.

Given those facts, I wouldn't be buying insurance for myself but for other anonymous people whom insurance cos. are forced to cover through government subsidies at much lowered costs and they make up the difference by charging me 10 times what the government pays. Greed and socialized medicine are a perfect match. Thanks but no thanks. I'll keep paying for it out of pocket.

2 cos. = companies. your spam filter wouldn't let me post it correctly, lol.

3 You're a sucker. Well, at least according to Democrats. They honestly believe that you shouldn't have to pay for your own healthcare. Instead, everyone else should have to pay -- no matter what risky health options you choose. That's just wrong. But if Democrats get a majority and the presidency, you can absolutely count on it happening.

4 Of course I'm a sucker according to them. Wouldn't want it any other way. I certainly don't want to be grouped with them, all things considered, so I'll take the insult as a compliment instead.

5 How dare you have pride! That's not allowed in the socialist Utopia the Democrats envision!

6 my wife and i were forced to go to the free neo-natal clinic in Orlando a couple of years ago. i was working full time and in school but that didn't matter, the place i worked for didn't offer health insurance. it wouldn't have mattered much anyways as the clinic in question is the ONLY clinic for high risk patients in Central Florida. you see, this is the same clinic that every goes to for high risk issues regardless of weather they have insurance or not, the difference is, the ones with insurance go on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, while the uninsured go on Tuesday and Thursdays... you know things are bad when a 10:30AM doctors appointment is over with at 5pm and it isn't because of medical complications... its because the place sucks... we were forced to sit in the lobby with pregnant women from the drug rehab center that was located right across the street and the inmates from the county jail that would show up in their jumpsuits, handcuffed to an officer... personally, half of the women should have been in jail for child endangerment as they were obviously crack heads...it was a lovely experience, and every since then, my wife has understood why free health care is a shitty idea.

7 Good experience. Now don't get me wrong -- I have absolutely NOTHING against free healthcare. I'm opposed to the forced government funding of it.

Did you know that before the government got involved, poor people actually got health care? Yes, people, it is possible to live without government. It's just that the left, Democrats, and just about everyone in power don't want you to.

8 "we were forced to sit in the lobby with pregnant women from the drug rehab center that was located right across the street and the inmates from the county jail that would show up in their jumpsuits, handcuffed to an officer..."

About the only thing the French have ever done right is their abortion law. They allow abortions. When a woman first finds out she's pregnant she can have an abortion right then and there. If she chooses not to have one, if the baby is born with any defects that are caused by the mother's lifestyle... she goes to jail, right then and there.

Now, if the U.S. wants to support abortion, that's the way to do it. I wonder how many of those crack heads would still be pregnant?

Now, mind you, I'm not pro-abortion but it seems like it's here to stay whether I like it or not. So why not make it tougher on them instead of letting them have their cake and eat it too?

Posted by: Steph at March 13, 2007 05:58 PM (AC9Dc)

9 Why not? Because it's an innocent life. I believe that's a baby in there and aborting it is killing it. That baby didn't do anything wrong, so why should it be killed because the mother's a crappy person? Want to make them stop having babies? Take away welfare.

I can hear the cries already, "What about the children?"

One word: orphanages.

Posted by: Ogre at March 13, 2007 06:04 PM (oifEm)

10 Yeah, put them in orphanages and make the parents pay child support. This generation really has no concept of behavioral consequences, does it?

Posted by: Steph at March 13, 2007 07:25 PM (AC9Dc)

11 To the liberals, orphanages are evil. Mainly because they were historically run by private, religious charities!

12 ogre, thought youd like this one

"Pregnant Illegal Aliens Overwhelming Emergency Medicaid"

from the article:

"The study found that 99 percent of the 48,391 people who received emergency Medicaid in North Carolina over the four-year period were illegal immigrants, 95 percent were female and 93 percent were Hispanic.

More than 80 percent received care related to childbirth and complications of pregnancy. Spending on care for pregnant women increased 22 percent between 2001 and 2004."

Posted by: chris at March 14, 2007 04:20 PM (rBjHa)

13 And that's why we're going to raise taxes.

Did you know there's a regular bus service from Florida to NC? It's a daily run -- they pick up illegals from Florida and drop them off at DMVs in North Carolina. They get NC DLs and then get back on the bus and return to Florida -- all the in same day. I guess if they're pregnant, they're staying for the free ride.
