Tom Tancredo for President

He's only formed an exploratory committee so far, but America needs Tom Tancredo. He may not even run because so far his goal seems to be to get the candidates talking about his issues; but America needs Tom Tancredo.

His #1 issue, which is one of the most important in America today, is immigration:

I am absolutely opposed to amnesty or guest worker program in any form. In addition to rewarding those who broke our laws, amnesties simply do not solve the problem of illegal immigration. The only realistic solution to the problem of illegal immigration is a strategy of attrition, which seeks to reduce the flow of the illegal alien population over time by cutting off the incentives for coming to and staying in America - most importantly by eliminating the jobs magnet.

No other current leader in Washington nor any other announced candidate has this position. If you are opposed to Spanish as a new national languge; if you believe American citizenship should have meaning; if you think laws are to be obeyed regarding immigration; and if you think there's a problem with terrorists slipping over the border; you need to support Tom Tancredo.

Mr. Tancredo OPPOSED "No child left behind." He's a former government (public) school teacher, so he knows exactly what teachers face and the state of the education system. He supports tax credits for EVERYONE who wants to send their children ANYWHERE for education. Imagine that, freedom of choice.

He wants to actually fix social security and allow people choices:

One component is individually-controlled, voluntary personal retirement accounts, which will augment the Social Security safety net. Any solution must, however, protect current retirees, and provide greater retirement security for future retirees.

He hates high taxes. He supports a flat tax.

This is not a Republican or Democrat -- this is the ONLY candidate so far that actually wants America to have borders. If you like America as a country, you need Tom Tancredo.

1 Tancredo and Duncan Hunter appear to be the best men to declare so far. Unfortunately, Representatives don't usually make it to the White House in a single bound; they have to become Governors, Senators, or Vice-Presidents first. Either that, or command the Allied forces in Europe in a world war, but that option carries some extra baggage, to say nothing of the dearth of opportunities.

2 Well it looks to be a year of changes -- sitting Senators don't get elected president either. I'm not sure anyone's told Hillary or her entourage, the media.

3 Congress is not the place to look for leaders. They are committees. Look to the Governors. That makes it Gilmore by default. Pataki and Romney don't count since neither is a conservative.

The guy I really like isn't running. He has a bad last name. First name is cool though. Don't think we ever had a Jeb before.

4 Gilmore? I don't know much about him. I've heard lots of good things about Jeb, but yeah, his last name will completely stop him.

5 Ron Paul has an exploratory committee now too. See ronpaulexplore.com

I don't know much about Tancredo other than his stand on illegal immigration. Ron Paul is someone I could vote for in good conscience though, even if he runs as a Republican. There was a rumor that he might even run as the Constitution Party candidate.

6 I had heard Ron Paul was considering -- he has a horrible record on immigration, so I'm not sure I could support him. Of course, give Paul or the average Republican, yeah, I'd vote Paul in a minute.

7 I'm all for Tancredo over the current pack. I would love for Haley Barbour of Miss to run.

Also, I want Cheney to announce he is running, to see if Helen Thomas fulfills her promise to kill herself

8 You don't think when liberals actually speak they MEAN anything, do you? Can you name one liberal, in the last decade, that has actually done what they claimed they were going to do? "Vote or Die" comes to mind...

9 Well, not to disagree, but I do believe the Libs when they say they want to pull out from Vietraq immediately.

10 Oh yeah? I bet if Bush made a turnaround and announced he was immediately withdrawing every single US person in Iraq, the Democrats would disagree and demand that we send more troops.
