Government Signs

So have you ever seen a less useful government-made sign that this one?

1 Actually I have. In Wisconsin there is a sign on the side of one of the highways that says, "Low visibility when fog is present" It has flashing lights on it to get your attention.

2 Indeed that's a good one.

I like the "Bridge Freeze Before Road" -- when it's 104 degrees outside.

3 Yeah also in wisconsin, there is a sign by a a big over water bridge and right before it a sign that says " Watch for Blowing Wind and Snow!"

4 I think I can top that. At a huge intersection of a 4 lane hwy/road near me in nyc, there's a huge white rectangular sign for pedestrians that says:

"Caution: crossing the street against the light can be fatal. There have been many fatalities at this corner as a result."

When my young son read that sign for the first time, he asked why did they have a sign stating the obvious: "Don't they know to cross only on green and not in between?

So after we discussed it a bit he thought about it for awhile and then said: "What a waste of money" Yep, he's learning to think for himself and I'm so proud!

5 Blowing wind? You mean there's other kinds?

Good one, Michele. That reminds me of a conversation I had with a 7-year old where income taxes and withholding came up. After I explained to him about earnings vs. the actual check, the first words out of his mouth were, "That's not fair!"

6 Well - I have to say, I agree that these are all good, and I've seen one that says "stop for red light" and one that said "do not drive until light is green", but those pale in comparison. Also, I LEFT BLOGGER! It was a good weekend - HI OGRE!

7 "Stop for Red Light." That one really makes you wonder. I mean, if you see that at one intersection and not the next, does that mean you DON'T have to stop for red at the intersection that doesn't have the light?

8 On two lane roads in Lower Uppper Michigan (one road in each direction) there are signs that say "Do not pass when opposing traffic is present"

Got a picture, I will have to look it up.

9 Well it's a good thing that sign's there -- otherwise I'd be sure to pass into oncoming traffic! LOL
