NC State and Local Fiscal Modernization Study Commission
Wonderful. The solution to all the world's problems are just a committee meeting away. You see the newest NC state commission is going to meet soon. And they're going to solve all the financial problems of the state. This committee is meeting to determine if they will overhaul the entire fiscal structure of the state. According to bureaucrats, the state's fiscal structure was built on a agricultural society and since that has changed, so must the state. But watch for the part that shows freedom doesn't have a chance in this state:
Economists say an overhaul is needed or else the General Assembly will have to keep raiding trust funds and raising taxes to balance the state budget. Local governments argue that they'll have to keep driving up property taxes to pay for Medicaid, transportation and school construction needs.
In other words, there's absolutely no concept of fiscal discipline in NC state government. No one will ever consider for a second the actual freedom-based solution: STOP SPENDING MONEY! I know I'm living in a fantasy-world -- but hey, this is the only place I can find freedom these days.
