Government Phones
If I were in charge of government, this is how I would direct ALL government flunkies employees to answer the phone:
Good Morning. Thank you for calling an agency of the United States Government. Press "1" to continue in English, or Press "2" to disconnect until you have learned to speak English
Maybe that second option should be read in Spanish to make sure they get it...

Unless, of course that second option is translated to say "Yo quiero Taco Bell"

Nah, I want them to understand that you have to speak English to get anything from government in this country. And yes, I'm aware I'm dreaming, but I like to dream of freedom.

I deal a lot with the public in my job, and, lately, we have been getting a lot of people who only speak Spanish, and are incredulous that neither I nor no one on my staff speak Spanish.
I would so dearly like to say, just one time, "why they h*ll don't you speak English? It's not my responsibility to understand Spanish in an English speaking country."

See -- that's why they don't let me work with the public. I would learn how to tell them to get lost and learn English -- in Spanish -- and I'd tell them so.
