"Non-Profits" in NC
In the Business Journal, there's a nice, friendly press-release article that announces the appointing of board members. However, way down in the article, it unknowingly points out the socialism infesting North Carolina:
Headquartered in Research Triangle Park, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center is a nonprofit corporation supported by the General Assembly.
Did you catch that? It's a "nonprofit," but it's supported by the General Assembly. In other words, this "corporation" is an extension of the state government. It's paid for completely by taxpayers. It does not earn any money, it just takes money from taxpayers. And it's called a nonprofit. Anyone want to guess what it does with the taxpayer money that it does not earn?
It supports the biotechnology industry throughout the state.
In other words, it uses taxpayer money to lobby the General Assembly to get more money for itself and other companies. Literally, YOUR money (because you can be sure some of it is federal money) is used so a company can give money to politicians in North Carolina. If we had a government that was doing what a free republic was supposed to do, the "North Carolina Biotechnology Center" would absolutely cease to exist. It has NO purpose other than to give taxpayer money to politicians to spend on themselves! Oh how I yearn for freedom.
