Democrats Meet Reality
This year, the Democrat-led North Carolina General Assembly passed a new law to prevent people from freeing making contract for labor. They claimed that it would only help people and would not harm anyone. They call this interference with freedom and liberty a "minimum wage law." Once again, reality crushes Democrat spin.
However, Chicago passed a law making minimum wage $13 an hour (only for certain, evil companies), and now companies are running away from Chicago. Lowes is the latest company to stop development, refusing to sign leases for two large stores they had planned in the Chicago area. In addition, 20 Wal-Mart stores and at least 2 Target stores have stopped plans to build new stores AND CREATE MORE JOBS in the Chicago area, all of them saying that is was because of the $13 minimum wage law. That's AT LEAST 24 stores that have now been driven out of Chicago because of the minimum wage law. How many thousands of jobs were destroyed by that law? Sure, some smaller businesses may move in (because the law unfairly only applies to "certain" companies) -- but they can't move into those large locations where these big stores were going to show up -- instead those lots will remain empty. Once again, the hard truth of reality trumps the emotions of Democrats.
