Illegal Aliens? Criminal Aliens?

In years past, those who broke the law to enter this country were called "illegal aliens." I asked, if someone's not prosecuted for something if they're criminals. Only Contagion responded, and with what seems to be the prevailing thought -- that you're not criminal unless you're caught. So what are we left with?

They can't be called illegal aliens because in many places, like Charlotte, NC, they are NOT illegal -- the police department has an official policy that says they absolutely will not arrest, detain, or report any illegals, and if a police officer does, they WILL be reprimanded. So they're not illegals.

They can't be called "undocumented," because as Michelle Malkin has pointed out, they certainly have plenty of documents, even if they are forged (and they're immune to prosecution for breaking those laws too, according to the Charlotte PD).

They can't be called "workers" because so many of them are on welfare and receiving free education, food stamps, and healthcare that they have an overall net drain on the economy of the United States.

So what's left? Do we just call them "future citizens?"

1 If they keep saying that they are doing the work that americans won't do then why are they on welfare, because we know plenty of americans love being on welfare.

So are the "people who are not citizens and don't have green cards" lying? Because they are doing the "work" that americans love to do.

2 I'm thinking that the word "work" has quite a different meaning to some people...so we can't say they're doing the work other people won't, so should we say they're doing "things" other people won't do?

That would be pretty accurate because I know quite a few people who would never go on welfare or accept government handouts...
